is that we need the swelling to go down

before we do the surgery.

How long is the healing process for this?

How long till I'm back to normal?

[Dr. Shepler] I would say probably,

you know, after the surgery,
it would be another week, okay?

-[Danny] Bye.

[Danny] I am definitely nervous
about the upcoming surgery.

The Austin Film Society

I'm a combat veteran,

Be ready to make
a 15-minute video documentary.

And the best possible thing you could make
that documentary about,

of course, is the best music festival
in the entire country.

-[John] That'll be South by Southwest.

I'm excited for South by Southwest

only because it's probably something
I would attend even if it wasn't my job.

South by Southwest
is basically a main stage

for all different types of bands

who come to show what they do

and hopefully,
get some sort of record deal.

Okay, you got to do it all. Somebody's got
to figure out how to sh**t it,

produce it, direct it. I don't think

maybe you could do it
entirely on your own.

We have somebody

who's also a great documentarian
in his own right

and also runs the production program
here at the University of Texas.

That's Mr. Paul Stekler.

at the doc motel.

his production facility

there on the campus.

Again, my name is Paul Stekler.

I'm a film professor,
and I'm also a documentary filmmaker.

And these are two of your trainers.

This is P.J. Ravel.
He's gonna be your camera trainer.

This is Jenn Garrison.
Jenn is an experienced sound person.

[Johanna] Our boss, Paul,
he's a professor at UT in the film school,

and he seems to have a lot of experience
working with documentaries.

The whole idea of going from zero
to doing a documentary this quickly is...

[Rachel] Absurd?

Well, it's a really interesting challenge.

Let's talk about South by Southwest.
How much do you guys know

about the South by Southwest festival?

[Johanna] Film and music festival
that's supposed to expose

those that really... they have a talent.

I mean,
it's actually on two different levels.

I mean, the first level is that,

you know, you bring people in
by having famous bands.

And the same thing with the film festival.

But at the same time,
it's a venue for people

that are up-and-coming filmmakers
and up-and-coming bands,

which is something for you to think about
because the access to famous bands,

probably don't get very much.

But the access for bands
that want to make it?

You know, this is probably
where your story's gonna be.

You're gonna be going
to a camera workshop,

and you'll be doing sound.
So, go out there and do some good work.

-[hip-hop music playing]

from Jason, and he's saying...

and that he apologizes for everything,

and I just don't want to deal with it,

And it's just, like, how come

when this what I wanted,

that this isn't what he
was willing to give me?

We were together
