in the middle of the night.

the same after surgery?

I am nervous about the surgery,

but it's something that definitely needs

I don't really have the best
relationship with my mom.

[Danny] My mom was an alcoholic
and was never really at home.

They got divorced when I was 18.
I don't see her much, though.

I don't wanna be such a disappointment.

I'm definitely worried what my dad
might think.

I feel I did let my family
and my dad down.

When I do look back at the situation,
I feel like I maybe could've avoided it.

To make a long story short,
the kid was hoverin' over me and then just

drilled me in the side of the head.
You know, it wasn't a square fight,

and that's what sucks about it.

'Cause I just want him to know
what really happened

instead of lookin' at it
as a disappointment.

[Wes] Rachel's aggressiveness
is not something that I find sexy.

that most guys find sexy.

She's going about trying to meet new guys
in the completely wrong way.

She just loves, like, the thrill of, like,

[Wes] Well, I think that being
from the army,

there's not that many girls in the army,
and those guys are pretty horny.

[Wes] I'm sure she's used to guys
throwing their selves at her,

for guys like Johanna.

Johanna is just the kind

and I think that she could teach me a lot,

both on a close emotional level
but maybe a physical one as well.

to see if there's

and get to know them
on a more personal,

[breathes deeply]

I think he feels scared.
He feels nervous for me.

You know, I'm his son,
and he does care a lot about me.

How am I supposed to look
tough in something like this?

-[nurse] It's a common thing.

if you don't do anything
right now, there's two problems.

Number one, he won't be able
to open his mouth,

and he'll have blurry vision

'cause his two eyes won't be
able to focus correctly.

And he'll have headaches all the time.
He won't be able to read.

[nurse] Do you get light-headed
with needles?

-[Danny] Kinda.
-[Melinda chuckles]

[nurse] Just relax your hand.

We'll basically have to go in

through an incision
on the inside of his mouth

and then one on the inside
surface of his eye.

Once we get it in proper alignment,

we're gonna put a plate here,
probably a plate here,

and maybe a plate here.

-I look like a dork.
-[ECG machine beeping]

[chuckles] I think you still look hot,
even though you're wearing a muumuu.

[chuckles softly]

I feel so close to him.
If he would've never gotten hit,

I might never have gotten this opportunity
to get to know Danny on such a deep level.

-I'm gonna be your anesthesiologist.

I was feeling strong,

and I am no longer feeling strong.

Something bad can just totally happen.

This could be the last time
I ever see him.

-We found your dad.
-[doctor] There you go.

[Danny] Just to know he's here,
it is comforting and,

you know, I love him to death,
and I couldn't ask

for a better person to be here
to walk me through this whole thing.

We're all finished. He did great.

-He's awake in recovery now.

pretty good-sized fracture.

he's got his eye patch on.

-[doctor] He's gonna be a little groggy

for, you know, the next hour
or two as he wakes up.

[breathes deeply] Okay.

[ECG machine beeping]

-[Jim] Hello.
-[Melinda] Hi.

-You okay?
-[Jim] I don't know if he's awake.

Dan, Mel came by to see you.

[both chuckle]

[Melinda] He's tryin' to respond.

I'm very happy that his father

did take time away from work
to come all the way down here.

He wants to be very supportive
for his son.

-This has to be hard for you to see.
-[Jim] It is.

All of a sudden, you're mad.
Then you're sad, and you're,

you know, pissed off.
It's like I'd love to grab the guy

-and strangle him, you know?
