[car engine revving]

We're gonna go hit up
the Dizzy Rooster tonight, like always.

Every night, same thing.

[indistinct chatter]

[crowd laughing]

[exclaims]

[crowd cheering]

[shower running]

[Danny] It kind of sucks,
watching them, you know, go out

and party and have a good time.
And knowing that I'm just gonna stay home.

But, you know, I'll be better
in a couple weeks, and you know,

we'll tear it up then.

-[indistinct chatter]
-I want to go home and cuddle with Danny.

[Rachel] Melinda has been able to go out,

and the whole time,
she thinks about Danny.

"I miss Danny. I want to go talk to Danny.
Let's go home to Danny."

-[car horn honks]
-[rock music fades]

When I go out,
and Danny is still in the house,

I feel like I don't want to go,
and I just want to spend

all my time with Danny.

[soft music playing]

[Melinda]
Danny's always in the back of my head.

Like, "Oh, I wonder what he's doing.
I hope he's having a good time."

[shower running]

[Danny] I just feel like
I'm missing out on so much.

My goal right now is to get better
and then to get out and,

you know, party and drink
and have a good time.

It's like puppy love,
you know, that feeling that you get.

And it's just... It's really exciting.

-[kisses]
-[Melinda] Are you staying in here?

[kisses]

-[Danny] Mm, sure.
-[chuckles] Okay.

-[soft music fades]
-[rock song playing]

[Danny sighs]

-[Melinda] I missed you.
-[Danny] Yeah, naked in the shower.

[chuckles]

She's gorgeous. At the same time,
her personality's amazing.

So, it makes it really,
really hard not to get attached,

and it makes it really hard not
to be attracted to her in every way.

-[Melinda chuckling]
-[Wes yelling]

[Danny kissing]

Then, like, I go out,
and the only person I think about is you.

-Okay?
-Yeah, but I have to be given

-the opportunity to go out...

-And that's what I'm saying is that...
-...and, like... [sighs]

Hey. I'm not making it a big deal.
I'm just saying that I want you to go out,

and I want you to have fun.
And when you get better,

and you... you can go out,
and you can drink,

I don't want you to feel like...
like something's holding you back.

Do I like Melinda? Yes, I like her a lot.
And do I want to get to know her? Yes.

Do I want to keep going,
what we're doing? Yes.

But the same time,
I feel like I've been missing out.

[Melinda] Okay,
so you like me to a certain extent,

but if you go out,
and you get drunk, and you see this girl,

and you want to be with her,

I don't want to have
to deal with it that night.

[Danny] Why don't we cross
that problem if we come to it?

I just know it's gonna happen.

[Danny] You don't... God. [inhales]

-[Melinda] Don't...
-[Danny] I'm going to get more ice.

-[Melinda] Are you gonna come back?
-[Danny] Yeah.

-[Melinda] Don't be mad at me.

I'm just getting a drink,
getting more ice, and... [sighs]

[Melinda] I really feel right now
that the ball is just in Danny's court.

And he needs to figure out
if he does want to continue

having a relationship with me,
or if he wants to go out

and be like Nehemiah or Wes
and get all these groupies all the time.

[rock music fades]

[upbeat music playing]

[indistinct chatter]

So, give me a summary of what you guys
have been doing over the week.

[Lacey] Well, we tried
to make an appointment

-for the South by Southwest offices.
-Okay.

I have to find a meeting time
to meet with them to learn more about it

because none of us really know
what it is other than a music festival.

What about the training?

And what do you make
of what you've been doing?

[Wes] I'd have to say at first,
it was pretty overwhelming.

But then when we got to do the hands-on,
anything that you couldn't figure out,

three people would say,
"Okay, I know how to do that."

We're working with the cameras.
We're working with the sound.

We're working with everything
that there is to work with.

That's great because
the way this all works is collaboration.

[Danny] He really wants us
to get involved with the whole festival.

And he's really stoked about it,

so I think it's kind
of making us excited about it too.

[Johanna] I was talking to my roommates,

and they were asking me
how the whole Melinda

-and Danny thing is going.
-[Lacey chuckles]

-[Johanna] And I'm like...
-[Lacey] He's so shady.

He flips out if you call her
his girlfriend ever.

Like today, like, Wes goes,
"Well, at least you have a girlfriend

to [bleep] on Valentine's Day."

And he goes,
"Dude, stop it! Not my girlfriend."

[indistinct chatter]

All right. So, while I'm here,
you guys are my brothers.

You got to help me out. What do I do?

I like Mel, but at the same time,
it's, like, I do want to go out.

That's what I told her.
I'm like, "I'm gonna go out."

"There's gonna be nights
where it's gonna just be the guys."

"We're gonna go out.
We're gonna have girls,

like, talking to us, obviously."

And then, she's like, "Well, fine,

if you're gonna do that,
then I'll end this right now."

I can't help that I like the girl.
And I don't know how it's gonna turn out.

But I can't abandon it either.

[Lacey] I'm like, "Oh, come on."

"You can say you don't want a girlfriend

without, like, flipping out
like she's a leper," you know?

-Like, it's so rude.
-[Johanna] If she's not your girlfriend,

-don't treat her like one.
-[Lacey] Right.

It's kind of a Catch-22.
It's like either I'm gonna...

You know, she's wicked cool.
I'm gonna give her up. You know or...

[Nehemiah] And not find someone like that.

And not find something.

But you're not looking for
something like that, so...

[Danny] But that's the thing.
You find it when you're not looking.

Danny may want
to have his cake and eat it too.

But then again, he doesn't
wanna leave something special

that he has now
and find nothing but BS along the road.

[Johanna] Everything will
come out of its nest...

-[Lacey sighs]
-...in a week

-when they start going out.
-[Lacey] I know.

They keep saying,
"Oh, we're saving you a girl.

-We're saving you a girl."
-Yeah. And he's like, "Yeah."

When Danny goes out,
he's gonna be having girls thrown at him.

And Melinda,
she has to compete with these girls.

-[indistinct chatter]
-[Danny] What do I do?

Well, as your friend, I say dump her
and go [bleep] as many girls as you can.

Is that the decision you would make?

-Yeah.
-[crowd laughs]

[hip-hop music fades]

[upbeat music playing]

[Rachel] Danny,
are you coming out tonight?

No.

Tomorrow night,
you're going out, though, right?

-[Danny] I don't know yet.
-You better. At least with the boys.

[Rachel] Danny doesn't want to go out
in public because of his eye.

I think he still feels very ugly.

Us girls are gonna have
Sex and the City night tomorrow night

-in the warehouse district.
-[Wes] Oh, that's the stupidest thing

I've ever heard in my life.

-We're gonna have Laguna Beach night.
-[Rachel chuckles]

[Danny] I tell him every night to,
like, to go out and do their own thing.

And Mel doesn't have to, like,
you know, babysit me.

[Danny] Hmm.

[Melinda chuckles]
Why didn't you say that earlier?

[upbeat music fades]

[Danny] I think Mel is a gorgeous girl.

And, you know what?
Every guy on 6th street is gonna be

And it kind of makes me jealous in a way,

and it kind of makes me, you know, worry.

[Danny] Hi, Greg. This is Danny.
I was actually calling in regards

to making a reservation for Monday night.

I am taking Mel to Oasis
for Valentine's Day because I know

she really, really wants to go.

[man] Ninety-nine dollars per couple.
You can't beat it in town.

I'm making plans to take Mel out

and show her a little bit
of the romantic side.

[upbeat music playing]

Danny has stitching
along this side of his eye.

They also put stitches
on the side of his head.

So, he needs to get his stitches off.

-[knocking on door]
-[Dr. Shepler] Hey, guys.

-[Danny] Hey.
-Hi.

-How are ya doing?
-Good. How are you?

-[Danny] Good.
-Good.

-Wow, a lot less swollen.
-[door closes]

Put your head back like this
so I can take a look at them.

-Do you want to take them out?
-No.

-[chuckles]
-[Dr. Shepler] Just kidding.

Uh-uh.

[Dr. Shepler] All right, guys.

He can start
exercising again if he wants to?

[Dr. Shepler] As far as exercise goes,
there's no limitations

except for contact sports.

-Why did he look at me too? [laughs]
-[Danny chuckles]

I feel so much better now.
I can go out, you know,

and we can just, like,
just do... do the things

that we were doing the first couple nights
before, like, you know, I got hurt.

[Wes] Nehemiah and myself
are out to get some burgers.

This girl comes up and hits on us.
We're like, "Well, meet us up

at this bar later tonight."

And then she goes,

"Yeah. You want to see my friends?

of collegiate cheerleaders.

I'm gonna list off the girls
that we think are cute

to Amber, and be like,
"These are recommendations."

We call back the original cheerleader,
and we give our recommendations.

[Nehemiah] The bigger
the group, the better it is.

So, what do you think about

Tonight is girls' night out.

And all of us are gonna get
dressed up to the hilt.

Melinda looks hot for a girls' night out.

I have never seen Melinda look
so beautiful as she does tonight.

[Melinda] My greatest fear
of Danny going out tonight

for guys' night out is that
he will definitely get really wasted

and kiss another girl.

I hope he does have a good time,
but still wants to come back

to the house, to me.

as hell from the first night back,

which makes me proud
because I know I did a good job

of reintroducing him to the wild.

[Lacey] The cabs are here.

and Danny's still in the shower.

This afternoon, we are all going to meet
with the organizers of South by Southwest

to talk to them about our documentary.

[Danny] I'm taking Mel to dinner.

Do you think
it's kind of a lost cause now?

[Lacey] No.

-Nothing bad happened last night.
-[Danny] I don't know what happened.

Wes and Danny are drunk
when we get ready to go to our job.

[Danny] I'm gonna reek
of booze at that meeting.

[Lacey] What do you want me to do?

[Lacey] Basically, what we need to know
is how we're gonna be allowed to sh**t.

And I know you said
to turn in, um, a paper.

I think my role and my job

is just to make sure
that everything gets done.

I hate not getting things done,

and I hate people
being disappointed in me.

[inhales] So, if anybody starts
to kind of slack off,

I'll kind of keep everybody on track.

[Danny] I don't really want space.

And it's hard for me to say that
because that's what I came here wanting.

And that was a good move
to get way hotted up.
