I'm kinda wary of what's gonna happen to our friendship.

- WILLIE: Oh, how I miss Philadelphia.

- SHAVONDA: We got back from our trip to Fiji,

and I had the best time ever.

I got closer to some roommates, and I grew further apart

from some roommates.

- Too much, just relax, you know?

- Hooked with Landon.

- ♪

- This is what I've been saying to her since day one.

Even before this trip.

I was like, "Shavonda, Shaun is gonna be seeing

"what you've been doing.

"And how do you think that's gonna make him feel when he's

"with his boys and talking about this girl he loves when he sees

"you in Fiji kissing him?

And then on the last night before, having sex?"

[laughs] She's slutting herself out.

Where I come from, I would never ever, ever,

ever said that about a sister.

And came here, I had to find that one sister that would make

me say that.

I thought Shaun was what made me happy.

But...I don't know.

I don't know, I don't know, it's very different, very different.

Lot of stuff's like changing and--

- SHAUN: Like what? Let's talk about it.

- I don't know if you're the right person for me to be

talking about this with, you know, it involves you, you know?

- SHAUN: If it involves me, then I should be the one

to talk about it.

- Like I've never been more confused ever, you know?

I don't know what's best for me, you know?

But what's scary is, all of the sudden, I feel this other thing.

And it's like, you know, like...I want this too,

and I want that, and I want this and--

- SHAUN: Okay, well, you can't have it all.

- I know. I know.

- SHAUN: Well, you lost me. - I know.

- Karamo's just pissed.

Pissed about the whole thing.

- Not--not 'cause it's you, Landon.

Because exactly what we're talking about right now.

He's like 'cause-- - He's just upset with her.

That she's doing that to Shaun?

- Yes, that's exactly why.

Because I said straight up, I said,

"Is it because he's white?"

And, "Is it because he's Landon?"

And he's like--he's like, "No, not at all."

- He said it was because of the relationship thing.

I think it's a little bit of, um, everything, you know,

I think it's a little bit of the fact that I am white.

Shavonda's black.

And that him and Vonda used to have a good relationship.

And now there basically is no relationship there at all.

I think he's a little jealous of what I have with her.

Just my gut feeling, as a guy, and like the way Karamo's been

looking at me the last like three days, four days,

I just think--

- He doesn't care anything about you.

He's like-- - I know he doesn't.

- He doesn't blame you. He blames Shavonda.

- How was your conversation?

- It was fine.

Fiji's a very romantic place to be.

And you know the week and half that we shared together was

something I'll never forget.

- I have mixed feelings about hooking up with Vonda.

Is it a good thing?

- It would just be very interesting to see where Landon

and Shavonda's relationship kinda goes from here,

because we are back in Philly.

We're no longer in Fiji anymore.

It's just a whole different way of life.

- Like I was telling everybody, I knew it was gonna happen.

I told you before we left for the trip. [laughs]

See, I don't--honestly, I don't remember.

- That whole night was just like...a cl*max of emotion.

Like we had the table with--the most beautiful table,

and good food and wine, and--

- What's scary is...like...

I really don't--never mind.

It was fun.

- I really don't what?

- Like I just don't know if I regret it.

- That doesn't make me feel very good about myself,

and...I don't know if she's saying it just to distance

herself from me.

- This is uncomfortable for me just even talking about it,

'cause I didn't want it to get this serious.

That is completely up to you.

And like I will respect you, you know,

for whatever decision you make.

And...more than that, just like up to that point,

like--if you're like, "I don't know yet.

I don't know." I will respect you.

- I think it's really cool like what we had, Fiji.

- Ed is one of my Puerto Rican friends.

I've known him since like the second week that I've been here.

Ed is more hip-hop culture, he's a Puerto Rican.

I've been missing the more urban side of Philly,

the more urban side of life...period.

Nice to meet ya, Ed.

It's just really interesting to me to see how Karamo points his

finger at Landon and Shavonda for having like an interracial

love affair, and then he brings home Ed,

who is obviously not black.

- I don't know what Ed is, but I know he's not black.

- He looked white.

Ed's Puerto Rican, but I mean, he looks like a white boy.

I think Karamo's full of crap.

- ♪

- Ed is just another shining example of something that Karamo

said he'd never do, and definitely has.

- ♪

- FEMALE VOICE: Next stop, th Street.

For free interchange--

- He wasn't being funny, he was saying it over and over again.

And I was like, "Are you serious?"

He goes, "Yeah, I hate her. I -- hate her."

- Why?

- Karamo cannot stand the fact that Landon and Shavonda...

have had sex.

So, he's just looking for anything to hate her over.

- He already said he was jealous.

For what reason, I don't know.

Of me and like M--no, Landon and M.J.

- Because of the comradery that you guys have?

- Yeah.

He's like, "'Cause I thought it was gonna be me and you,

"and now you're always hanging around them,

you're playing with them."

- But you've always been hanging around them

since the beginning. - That's what bothers him.

- But is it an interracial thing?

- I--okay, he says--I feel like he uses the interracial thing,

but I think it's more of a personal thing.

- But he dates--he's dating a Puerto Rican.

- It doesn't make sense to me.

I just know that he was serious.

And to me, like he knows that I like Shavonda.

And for him to sit there and speak so hatefully of somebody,

I'm not--I'm not ratting on him.

- But it's one thing--it's one thing to dislike,

it's another thing to like hate.

- I like Karamo, but ever since he said that he wants to slit

Landon's throat that night at that dinner--

- WILLIE: Three times.

- --he's been spewing hate--hateful things about

people in the house that I care about--

- WILLIE: It's like scary.

- --it's harder for me to be close with him

when he's doing that.

He's angry.

He's a very angry person.

- ♪

- SHAVONDA: Hello?

- SHAUN: Look, I don't want you to think that I don't understand

what you're going through.

I totally understand like your mindset right now.

You had everything from me.

Like you had my heart.

It's just so unexpected.

- Shaun, I've told you, I'm sorry.

What you're not getting is it's extremely scary for me,

because I'm about to make a lifelong commitment to you,

Shaun, like--

- SHAUN: Were about to.

- Were about to.

A life-long commitment.

And it was scary, and I just wanted to be on my own.

And if you can't understand that, I'm sorry.

Then that means, unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.

- SHAUN: Okay.

- It's not like it just happened, you know?

And, "Oh, it's over."

It's like feelings are changing, my independence,

my liking to just be on my own, it's pulling me

further away from you.

I know I'm not gonna have anybody when I get home.

I know I'm gonna be by myself.

And...that is what--the price I'm paying to figure out

who I am right now.

- SHAUN: I get it.

- I believe that me and Shaun were together for a reason.

And I believe I was--I came here for a reason.

- SHAUN: Really do.

- SHAVONDA: God put me in this situation for four months

for some reasons.

And maybe God's saying, "You need to be single right now,

"'cause you might well have found the man of your dreams,

but you need to--you know, play the field for a little while."

I just wanna start working on, you know,

being there for myself rather than seeking a man

to be there for me.

The dynamic of me and Landon right now, he's like lonely.

I'm lonely.

When we were in Fiji, being in that environment,

wanting it to share it with someone, and being lonely,

that's why we were drawn to each other,

because we could both comfort each other

and be affectionate to each other.

But I told him, you know, "I don't give myself to people and

give them the option to go out and get with other people."

Sex changes emotions.

Even a little bit to me. - It does.

- And I'm like, "And I don't wanna do the bull -- where we go

"to a nightclub and we're dancing,

and I see you kiss a girl and be like uh," you know?

You know how it is.

You know how it is when you feel that, and you're like,

"Oh my God."

Or if Landon brings a girl home, and me and you are in the room,

and I see the girl and it's like--everyone's looking at me

like, "How does Shavonda feel about this?"

"If you wanna hook up with me, I'm gonna be the only person

"you're hooking up intimately.

"I'm not giving you ultimatums, I'm just saying this is what

"I stand for, and if you can't deal with that, it's cool,

"we could still be totally tight,

but we won't be intimate at all."

All I'm trying to do is like protect myself and not get hurt.

I don't play second fiddle to -- .

I don't play games with boys, and I don't -- around,

and I don't get -- with.

- A lot of people don't know where I come from, my history,

my past, what I had to put up through when we first came from

Puerto Rico here.

- I am dating someone outside of my race.

And it is new for me.

- ED: --not speaking English 'til I was ten years old.

That's why I'm so like focused on getting another degree.

I still gotta practice a lot.

Your background?

- I grew up in the suburbs.

Because of my own background and upbringing, I really didn't, um,

surround myself with any of my--

- Peers. - --white classmates.

Part of me sincerely wants to really get to know my roommates

and for them to get to know me.

But part of me is jaded, and really could care less about

getting to know them.

Ed is helping me with that part that is sincere to outweigh that

part that is jaded.

Ed is really, really, really helping me.

As much as both Landon and Shavonda act like they really

don't care if they see the other person talking to another guy or

girl, they really do.

I know it, it's bluffing.
