17x13 - Opening Day

Post by bunniefuu »

Previously onThe Real World:

JANELLE: There will definitely be

a little bit of clashing.

I can intimidate people at times.

Hi, how can I help you today?

ZACH: We'’re doing a soft opening,

and then a bigger grand opening

the following weekend.

Kiss my [bleep] damn a*s.

JOSE: Paula is angry and drunk.

Get your act to- [bleep]-damn-gether.

You know what? I always get the "be quiet, Jose,"

but, you know what: I'’m going to say it the way it is.

You know what? Enough is enough.

I have to say what I feel

and stop being in the background.

Captioning sponsored by MTV TELEVISION NETWORKS

This is the true story...

Gorgeous, man.

Of seven strangers...[ laughter ]

Picked to live in a house...

Work together and have their lives taped...

Whoa!

To find out what happens...[ gasping ]

When people stop being polite...

And start getting real.

ALL: The Real World: Key West.

As assistant manager,

I feel that I'’m not doing enough,

that I'’m being very unproductive,

and I really want to help out

with this grand opening and get things done.

Zach-- he has to realize that we are a team,

and we are here to work together.

JANELLE: What is, what has Jose

been doing as, um,

our assistant manager? He and I were going

to be working on the grand opening,

but I kind of took over that,

which I blame myself for, but...

ZACH: I feel like I'’m taking on too many tasks.

I'’m not delegating as well as I should be.

But we are going to be ready for our gala event on Wednesday

and our grand opening.

Can I ask you: if Jose is not really doing anything,

could you get him to do some marketing?

Yeah.

Like send him to all the businesses?

That'’s a great suggestion.Because I can'’t do that,

because I really need to do the hotels and concierges.

JANELLE: I'’ve been running crazy

marketing to all the local businesses.

It'’s very simple: just within a two-mile radius,

all the local businesses.

Just hit them up and give them fliers.

I don'’t really see his part in the, um,

the role of the assistant manager.

Jose is very young and impressionable,

and, two, he'’s only one year older than you are.

Not even-- I'’m going to be in December. Exactly.

I think he'’s insecure.

Really?Like, oh, my God.

All these personalities are so intense.

And then, Jose, mainly, "I'’m just a normal guy,"

and he doesn'’t know how to just be a normal guy.

No. He speaks like, like...

Here is Jose, and he just, like, goes over the surface.

You know what I mean?

Like, it has no meaning in it.

It'’s like, "I am happy."It'’s empty.

Right. Right.Really?

It makes you feel uncomfortable.

There'’s going to be that one day

where he'’s just going to let go and be Jose.

I want him to be mean. I don'’t want him to be funny.

I want him to be...I think it'’s going to be like Jose is the kind of person

that you don'’t want to see him mad,

because it'’ll end up taking him to a place he never wants to go.

JANELLE: I just never see you in action,

so what do you do?

JOSE: The first thing that comes out of Janelle'’s mouth is,

"So, Jose, what are you doing as assistant manager?"

You know, just very sarcastically.

All I'’m telling you is what, what I'’ve...

Number one, I'’ve asked you what you'’re doing.

I'’m, you know, out of the bubble,

it seems like everybody'’s taking things

upon themselves, and then,

I'’m getting looked at like

Jose isn'’t doing anything as assistant manager.

You'’re kind of real defensive over there.

ZACH: I am not getting involved.

I don'’t want to get on her bad side.

I just want to make sure I know what'’s going on,

because it seems like I don'’t.

I say the only way to know what'’s going on

as assistant manager is to ask people.

It'’s not that I have.

JANELLE: Jose sort of really doesn'’t know what to do,

so he kind of ends up just sort of dabbling

here and there in things.

And when you market, you have to focus.

And I'’m starting at the top.

And the top right now is hotel

and concierges, dermatologists.

JOSE: The way Janelle carries herself:

"Oh, I'’m better than everybody,"

and, you know, she thinks that she is a diva.

It would be beneficial to go within a two-mile radius

of our business,

and just go to other local businesses.

I did that yesterday.

I talked to a lot of businesses, um, spread the word about...

Make sure you give them our fliers. Absolutely.

We have to kind of realize where we'’re going,

because if we just saturate the businesses...

Well, now that that, now the two-mile radius

is your position,

so that'’s for you to control.Okay, well, good.

JOSE: She'’s just so rude and ridiculous.

That really gets to me and bugs me and angers me.

ZACH: Don'’t try to be so willy-nilly, Tyler.

I'’m nervous for them.

JANELLE: Is this your first time seeing them?

You haven'’t seen them yet? No.

TYLER: My friends are coming into town,

and I'’m excited to get a taste of home,

and have some good conversation and even better laughs.

Okay, so what do you want me to say?

"Can I help you?"

And then you come peering like, "Who are these?"

TYLER:Yeah, "Who the hell is at the door?"

And they'’ll be like, "We'’re here to see Tyler."

Be like, "Um, Tyler who?""Who?"

[knocking]

Hi.We'’re just here to see Tyler.

Who'’s Tyler?

Is he in here? Did he put you up to this?

I think you guys...ZACH: Close the door.

I think you guys got the wrong house!

[laughter]

[all chattering]

I'’m Janelle.

Hi! Nice to meet you.

JANELLE: It is very nice seeing Tyler with his friends.

I know it'’s probably very refreshing to him

to have some sort of, you know, comfort from home around him.

I'’m tall.

JOHN: Tyler'’s friends, they all seemreally cool.

You know, the guys seem awesome; the girls are sweethearts.

ALL: Hey!

Cheers to that.

It'’s all about Paula. Give me a kiss.

We like Paula.

They'’re offering me shots, and I was like, "No, sorry.

I don'’t do that," and they'’re like, "Come on."

Paula goes walnuts, so she needs some time away.

What brings this on? Like what instigates...

It'’s alcohol in the mix of company.

TYLER: She'’s very passive when she doesn'’t drink,

but when she drinks, it'’s like,

oh, [bleep], watch out.

That'’s fun, though.I grow horns.

Drink up, Paula!

All I have to say is I don'’t do that anymore.

PAULA: Dr. Covan tells me no more shots.

I haven'’t done a shot in two weeks.

Paula needs some, like, peaceful time.

We'’ll peace out, but we still love Paula.

To have, you know, my roommates

be happy for me and proud of me,

it makes it feel that much better.

[laughter]

ZACH: We'’re boozing it up.

Tyler'’s friends,

I think they'’re going to be feeling it pretty soon.

JANELLE: Oh, my God!

SVETLANA: Oh, my God!

Oh, my God!

TYLER: We'’re acting like freshmen in college.
