03x07 - Denied & Declined

Post by bunniefuu »

I was wondering
if you'd, uh, marry me?

Absolutely.

I want to marry Kristianna
on the day she gets out.

Hey, there we go!
MAN ULULATING

KRISTIANNA: 'I have to make it
to the facility on time.'

I've been to this halfway house
at least four times.

'It's a trap. There's drug users
in there, drug dealers.'

And it's why I've never
successfully completed a parole.

How long have you
and Kristianna known each other?

Three months. Surprise!

She's not really in a place

where she can make
her own decisions right now.

I'm very excited
about Lindsey's release.

In the last two years,
I would say Scott

has sent me
around $15,000 to $20,000.

Thirty people come off that plane,
and I'm like, "What the BLEEP?"

You spent a lot of money
on this girl.

You sure it's not a scam
or something?

I'm a little concerned on my part
that Lindsey is pulling a fast one.

It's almost time for Quaylon
to come home.

I don't like it. You guilty
until I prove you innocent.

SHAVEL: Quaylon!

Mmm!

- Is marriage in the plan?
- Well, um...

Oh, my God. Oh!

Hi!

- Shawn, how old are you?
- I'm 45.

What the BLEEP?
You told me you were 36.

- Do you have kids?
- I have six kids.

DESTINIE: 'He told me originally
that he had two kids.'

Why did you lie about your kids?

I wanna get BLEEP up.

- How many girlfriends you have?
- Dude, I don't have girlfriends.

Shawn does not know this,
but the last time

I had sex with a woman was in prison
a couple weeks ago.

I think I'm, like, trisexual maybe.

JESSICA: 'Maurice and I got married
while he was in prison.'

They said you can't go to Vegas?

What does that mean?
- I don't know.

He is not allowed to leave
the state of California yet.

MAURICE: BLEEP parole.
What's the worst that's gon' happen?

'I take risks, and the risk
I'ma take is going to Vegas.'

Simple as that.

- I'm gonna get off.
- No!

If Maurice gets caught,
he'll be in there

for the rest of his life.

Don't get off.
What the BLEEP you doing?

JESSICA:
It was stupid for us to do this.

SIREN WAILS
Man, just go, just go.

Just keep going.
- What if you go back to jail?

You with me or you against me?
Let me hear it.

You about to pass the state line.

All right?

- I'm with you.
- I can't hear you.

- I'm with you.
- My ride or die?

- Ride or die.
- That's right.

MAURICE:
I'm still in California right now?

Yeah, and then when you cross
that line, you're in Nevada.

You ready?
- Yeah, let me see how I feel.

JESSICA: So, now you're in Nevada.

Ah! Drove a long way.
We goin' this way.

My wife does not like me
crossing the border,

saying, "BLEEP parole."

If I get caught being out here,
this can be a violation

and I'ma go back to jail.

So, over here, I'm at home.

CAR HORN HONKS

Right here, I ain't.

'I'm taking a huge risk,
and I'm gambling with my life.

'But my wife getting dragged
around with me over in Compton.'

It's like,
I want her to be comfortable.

You know, I just wanna give her
what she deserves.

I think we need to go back.

No, we not going back.
I'm pissing on California.

I waited four and a half years

to finally be able to start
my life with my wife.

Man, California did nothing for me
but gave me two strikes,

put me in jail,
took my family from me.

'I don't want nothing to do
with California no more.'

JESSICA: 'Even though
we're violating Maurice's parole,

'we're here together finally.'

We get to sleep next to each other
in the same bed.

I'm happy I'm home, man.
I can't wait to go in here.

I've been dreaming of this moment
for four and a half years,

so it's overwhelmingly exciting.

Come into your new house.

Oh, yeah, this is fly right here.

MAURICE: I walk into my house

that my wife
been putting together for me,

it's just like, "Damn."

It's fly up in here.
This is my palace, huh?

El plaza. El jefe plaza.

I really didn't wanna, like,
really show it

cos I didn't wanna look like
a little-bitty-a*s kid,

but I'm like,
the walls painted fly,

the carpets soft as hell,
thick-a*s carpet.

I see the guest room
with a little gym.

Got all this food in here for you.

OK, I'm looking at the refrigerator,
it's snacked up, meated up.

Oh, you want some vodka? It's warm!

Oh, Lord.

No.
- Mmm!

I'm like, "OK, look at us."

We got a washer and dryer.
This is in here.

- Oh, a laundry room? What?
- Yeah.

And then where it all goes down.

THEY LAUGH

JESSICA: Don't break the bed.

I ain't gon' break it.
I ain't gon' break it.

My wife really put her life
on hold for me. Like, literally.

- Do you like your house?
- Mm-hm. Thank you.

- Our house.
- Mm-hm.

It was a blessing meeting this girl.
It was a blessing.

- I hope so.
- I feel at home.

You taste like vodka.
SHE LAUGHS

You ready to meet the parents?

Something like that.
HE EXHALES

I've been wanting
to do this forever.

Take your shoes off?
You wanna go take a shower?

Yeah, let's go get in the shower.

My parents have no idea

that Maurice is violating his parole
right now to be here.

'I'm just worried how they'll react
and what they'll think of Maurice.'

I am a little nervous about
my dad and him meeting

cos my dad can be kind of hard
meeting a new guy.

But I'm really hoping
they will get over it, I guess.

I hope everybody gets along
and everything goes well.

I'm finna get a*s naked,
straight up.

I'm ready to go see
my father-in-law and my mom-in-law.

I wanna make
a nice impression to where,

like, it's about
how you present yourself, you know?

Go over there clean-cut,
standing tall,

they're gon' be like,
"OK, this guy got class.

"This guy's a gentleman."

I finna give you a back rub, baby.
A back rub!

SHAWN: Hey. Rise and shine.

Why are you waking me up?

DESTINIE GROANS

You had a crazy night last night,
didn't you?

I know.
You should let me sleep it off.

I have a little bit
of a hangover.

That's your fault.

No, it's really not.

It's the bartender's fault for...
SHE SCOFFS

..serving me such a strong drink.

SHAWN: 'Waking up next to Destinie
just... it's so surreal.'

Like, we've waited
so long to be together,

and just being able
to watch her sleep

and just knowing that, you know,
she's finally here just...

it just makes me
the happiest man around.

But I am worried that Destinie's
priorities are all screwed up.

Yeah, how did I get
in these clothes?

My first night in Vegas
was BLEEP amazing.

I had such a... a blast.
Like, I got so BLEEP drunk.

'Now that I've seen Vegas, like,
I'm starting to be myself again.'

I could go anywhere and party,

but being in Vegas and partying
is just... it's crazy out here.

You need to get up
and start the day.

Oh, BLEEP you.

I need to get up
and get ready for work.

You're leaving the car, right?

No.

Yeah, you are, because
I'm gonna go do some things.

Maybe I can go buy
some things for the house,

or I don't know,
I wanted to get some pictures,

and, like, I like nice BLEEP.

I'll give you some money.

No, I want some...
I want a credit card, too.

Are you allowed
to have credit cards?

Well, I think it's been
in my stipulations before,

"no credit cards or cheques,"
but I think I'm gonna be good, OK?

- All right.
- I need you to give those to me.

I just don't want you
to get in trouble.

Oh, shut the BLEEP up.

I am not on parole or probation,

but, like,
I do have some stipulations,

and it is that
I cannot be in possession

of a bank account
with a chequing or savings

because to take care
of my drug habit,

I got charged with 598 felony counts
of cheque fraud.

The government writes bad cheques
all the time.

They do it and get away with it
all the time. I don't understand.

There's this app
I could put on your phone.

You don't even need the card.

You could just swipe the phone over
where you put the card.

Oh, I've been down
for three years in prison.

I've never even heard of this.

- Mm-hm.
- OK, and I just use the phone

to scan it,
and they're like, "Oh, OK"?

- Yeah.
- All right. Is there a limit?

- There is a little limit.
- What's little to you?

Little to you and little to me is...
- Like, $1,500.

That's it?

Dude, no.
That's not gonna work, Shawn.

So...
- What are you thinking?

I was thinking maybe,
like, five or ten.

Thousand?

Well, yeah, not $500.

$1,500 to you.
That's, like, nothing.

Baby. Can you at least
make it like $3,500?

Please. And I'll make up for it.

BOTH LAUGH

SHAWN: 'I think
my financial status is stable.'

I have enough kind of put aside
for my kids.

I know kind of what
they're gonna need,

and it has been very expensive
to date Destinie.

I got to get going.
- OK. I love you.

Have a good day at work, OK?
- I love you, too.

- See you when you get home.
- All right.

So far, I've had to pull out of
my 401k and my savings,

and, you know, when you pull out of
your 401k early,

they tax you like crazy.

So probably only
a couple more months

I can afford to do it like this.

But I'm afraid if I tell her,
she could just ditch me

and leave me
and not show up to court,

and then I'm gonna lose my,
you know, $50,000

and the person that I love.

RINGING TONE

KELLY: 'Hello?'
- I just figured I'd call you.

I haven't heard from you
in a couple days, so...

How much is it?

All right.

Destinie does not know
I talk to Kelly every single day

because Destinie is
a very jealous person.

She knows that Kelly and I have been

on and off again
for the last 20 years,

and I just think
it really bothers her.

Destinie, she got out, everything.

Are you mad?

RECEIVER CLICKS

I feel like
I'm in two relationships,

just not two romantic ones.

The one is the mother of my kids,

and I have to have
that relationship for my kids.

And the other one is with Destinie,
the love of my life.

But Destinie's
gonna have to meet Kelly

in order to meet my kids,
and it's really important to me

that they get along,
just for my kids' sake.

Kelly is very pissed off at me.
She doesn't even wanna talk to me.

So at this point,
I'll have to try to fix that

so I can at least see my kids.

When did you get smart with her?

So, do you need money?

- Did you ever have girlfriends?
- Yes.

I would love to date Shawn
and a woman at the same time.

You don't worry about my boyfriend,
and we're going on a date.

You giving him a car?
He haven't even showed you BLEEP.

What's next, a house?
That makes no sense at all.

SHE LAUGHS

I'ma let you have some alone time

with your family today.
- OK.

And then we're gonna hook back up.

Aight.

Later on?
- Mm-hm.

I'm about to see my sister
for the first time in 12 years.

That's my big sister,
so she knows me for real.

'We was as thick as thieves.

'She was my road dog.
That was my ace.'

Is that them? That is?

Ooh! Yeah, that's them, that's them.
Let's go.

ALL SCREAMING

QUINANDRIA: Oh, my goodness.

I feel happy, man, just to be free
and be around family.

You all right?
SHE SOBS

- I'm all right.
- Good to see you. Look at you!

I can't complain about nothing.

- Hey, baby, how you doing?
- Hi. Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you, give me a hug.

You, as well.

- You ready?
- Yeah, I'm ready.

Just don't forget that you got to
come back here at three o'clock.

- OK, I got you.
- We'll have him back.

- Don't forget.
- We'll have him back.

QUAYLON: All right, love you.

I'm ready for my family
to meet Quaylon's family

at his "welcome home" party.

But I'm kind of nervous
because I don't know what to expect.

'And when it comes to
Quaylon's mother, I am concerned.'

I feel like she's controlling
and in everybody's business,

and I'm not about to deal with that.

QUALANDRIA:
I see stuff I like already.

QUAYLON: It's all about me today.
- It's all about you today.

'I'ma go shopping for clothes
for the party.'

This is my first time
in a store in 12 years,

and it feel good
to spend some alone time

with my mom and my sister.

What do you think
about these jackets?

- You look skinny now.
- I've been eating.

I've been eating good.

DOOR BELL RINGS

Coming.

Yes, you got the balloons!

- Hey.
- Hey, Mom.

- We got the balloons.
- Thank you.

SHAVEL: 'My family's here,
my cousin's here to help.'

I really want this to be nice
and everything that he wants.

So I got the tablecloths.

This right here
is gonna be the food.

I want the banners set up
right here

so that when he walk in,
he'll be seeing "welcome home".

- OK, got you.
- Dmark, I've got a surprise

for Quaylon later,

so I want you to go with me
to handle something real quick.

All right.

What's been going on?

Trying to get adjusted
back to society,

you know,
taking it one day at a time.

I was surprised to learn
that you had a girlfriend. But...

What was you shocked about?
Like...?

That it was established
before you got out.

I mean, she was there for me

when I was going through some
things, you know what I'm saying?

She held it down,
she came to see me.

We built, you know what I'm saying,
a good bond.

- So, you see her...
- Right.

..as being the one for you?

Yeah, she the one for me. Yeah.

I'm happy
that you wanna make it work.

But I want you to come to Houston.

Kansas City is not a viable place
for you to be successful.

And I understand that you
are older, more grounded,

but that does not mean
you're not gon' come across somebody

who ain't on your level.

And there's too many
of those type people

in these streets right now.

And I would hate
to just lose you right off the bat

because of the people
in the streets.

I don't know why you and Mama
think that way.

She got the same concerns,
and you got to understand

that your baby brother grown now,

and I got obligations,
you know what I'm saying?

I made promises. I got to be a man
and stand on my word.

I am not happy about Quaylon
staying in Kansas City.

I feel it is
a very dangerous city.

Quaylon seems very hell-bent
on making this work

because he feels as if he has to.

That kind of shows me
it's based on Shavel

being able
to support him financially.

It's not based out of love.

I don't want Quaylon to feel like

he is obligated to do anything
for anybody.

A couple days ago,

Brenda and I called
the Federal Bureau of Prisons

to find out exactly what's going on
with Lindsey.

Uh, I wanna know if she's there.

She is, OK.

Could you give us any information
as to what happened?

SCOTT: 'It's been close to a week
since I heard from Lindsey.'

Unfortunately, we've got to wait
for Lindsey to reach out to us

and let us know what's going on.

So it's elevated my stress
a little bit.

PHONE RINGING

Oh, that's Lindsey.

Hello, dear.
What... What is going on?

Why?

When did you get smart with her?

LINDSEY:
I was in the SHU for fighting.

I was back under
disciplinary action,

but they told me
I was gonna get to leave, anyway.

So then when the morning rolled
around I was supposed to leave,

they told me to pack up,
and I was waiting to go,

and then they said, "Well,
I don't think you're leaving,"

because I had gotten smart with her.

I sat at the airport...
Oh, I don't know.

..a half-hour waiting for you
to get off the plane.

You know?
- No, I know.

I gotcha.

Oh, I missed you, too.

I've missed you
for the last month and a half.

I haven't been able to talk to you.

Yeah, and you have
no second out-date yet, right?

I know Lindsey's OK and safe

and where she is.

But with all of these delays,
changes,

I'm just very disappointed,
but I'm more concerned.

I would hope she's being honest
and forthcoming with me.

'Frankly, I don't...
I just don't know.'

So, do you need money?

LINDSEY: 'Yeah, I'm gonna go
to the store Monday.

'I have some,
but God knows I need some more.'

- All right.
- 'I love you.'

Lindsey needs to get out.

We need to get married,
get the ball rolling with our life.

I've moved to Mississippi,

spent all kinds of time

and financial
and emotional resources.

'I'm exhausted and tired.'

It's been extremely frustrating
for us to, you know,

continue as a couple.

Call me tonight.

We can have more of a, you know,
in-depth conversation.

I'm working really hard
to stay under the radar.

I'm not causing no problems.
I haven't got...

I'm not getting in
any more fights, like...

I feel like, this time,
it's really going to happen.

Wanna see a picture?

- Yeah.
- Yeah, I know you do.

I've never had sex with him.

What should I wear?

DYLAN:

Babe, I love you so much.
I'll see you tomorrow.

So, how you feel taking
a Black man home right now?

'I'm nervous on meeting
Jessica's parents.'

Just got out of prison.
JESSICA: Just don't slip up.

Hi, babe.
Babe, I found this G-string.

The crotch is made out of diamonds.

DYLAN:

Aww, you always know what to say.

Should I get you a banana hammock?

DYLAN: 'Uh...'
- Why not? So, you're not gonna...

Yeah, to wear.

I'm definitely a romantic.

When I fall in love with someone,

I just want to give them
the whole world.

I never had trouble meeting people.

I just had trouble keeping them.

I just don't really have
an interest in BLEEP.

What should I wear?

That's...
I think that's too specific.

Fish... I like fishnets.
It's good for me.

I wanna be with someone
who I can work with,

who I can grow with,
and I found that with Dylan.

What is this? Just, like, a b*llet?
- Mm-hm.

It's one of the most powerful
b*ll*ts that we have.

- It's like a Bluetooth. Hello.
- Yeah, right?

I have one.
Would you believe it if I told you

I had a b*llet
that I carry in my purse?

I keep it in here.

Oh, my God.
SHE LAUGHS

- I never know.
- Yeah.

You know what I mean.

I met Dylan at this party
at his apartment.

One of my friends
was really close with Dylan.

I went to use the bathroom,
and he was in the shower,

and he was just like,
"What the BLEEP?"

He opened the curtain and peeked
his head out, and it was me.

He was sexy and strong.

It's like BLEEP it, you know.
You just like, "Oof."

I have this one,
and I have the pink one.

I have the Jive and I...
What's the pink one?

- The Lush.
- Lush! See, you are an expert.

Get it, girl.
- Oh, thanks.

When I started talking to Dylan,

it was like
I was the best thing ever.

Like, he could speak to parts of me

in ways that nobody else
has ever been able to.

I felt like a goddess.

- Their quality went down...
- Babe, I love you so much.

- OK, I'm sorry, one second.
- It's OK.

I'll see you tomorrow.
I'll see you tomorrow.

DYLAN: 'Yeah, yeah.'

- Bye.
- So, you're gonna pick up your man?

Yeah. In Joliet.
He's been in there for five years.

- Oh, my God.
- You wanna see a picture?

- Yeah.
- Yeah, you do. I know you do.

Oh, my God.

So then I've been waiting
and waiting to have sex with him.

I've never had sex with him.
- Never?

- Never.
- Oh, my God, what a crazy story.

So that's why we're here. Isn't it?

A few weeks after I met him,

he's in jail for selling ecstasy
to an undercover cop.

I found out that Dylan
had been arrested.

I don't even know how many times,
but a lot of times.

And he was facing five years.

Three months later,
he asked me to marry him.

- This is sexy.
- Yeah, I really like it.

Oh, my God!

Do you think
I could pick him up like this?

Oh, my God, yes!

"Hey, babe."

I love it.
- Dude, that's actually really hot.

Right.

I've been visiting Dylan in prison
for the last five years,

every Saturday and Sunday,
because I love him.

And I feel like
even though we are not married,

Dylan and I are already married
in our minds.

He's been calling me his wife

since a few months after I met him.

And Dylan's coming home
from prison tomorrow.

I'm so excited.

I get to hug him.
Oh, my God, I'm so excited.

I hope that...

the connection that we had
while he was in prison

will be just as strong
because I'm just ready to just,

you know, touch him
and lay with him.

Yeah, I like this a lot.

Cos the small...
- That's hot.

Cos the small will fit me on top,

but it's definitely not gonna fit me
on the bottom.

- OK, I'm gonna get it.
- OK.

Give him a bath, bathtub.

BLEEP his BLEEP
and just cook food for him.

'That's crazy. Oh, my God.'

I don't wanna talk about it on TV,
I'm gonna be so embarrassed.

Oh. Yes. Very excited.

- Thank you.
- I know he's gonna love it.

- Have a great day.
- Thanks, you too.

Thanks, bye.

- Hi, baby.
- Hey.

Come here.

Do I look beautiful, babe?
- Absolutely.

John and I just got married
yesterday,

but we haven't even been able
to have sex

because I have to stay
at the halfway house.

Baby, so, the night was
a little crazy last night.

- Yeah?
- Like, all these girls came in...

I was kind of overwhelmed, you know,

because I just wanted
to get back out and see you,

you know what I mean?
- Right.

It's a little concerning

she's in there with
some of the people she used to, uh,

hang out with
and that she knows from the streets.

But I've got to have faith
in my wife

that she is strong enough
to overcome temptations.

By the way,
I thought this might help...

- Baby!
- ..make your...

Oh, my Lord. Oh, thank you.

They're so beautiful.
- If you look back there,

there's a pink envelope, too.
You might wanna grab that.

Honey, thank you. You're the best.

I love flowers.

I can't keep the flowers
in the facility

because they won't let us
have them in there.

It's, like, restricted.
- Well, give them to your mom.

OK.

I get to see my mom for
the first time in four years.

But because of the restrictions
at the halfway house,

it's very difficult to see her.

I have to actually sneak around
as I go out and look for jobs.

KRISTIANNA SIGHS
All right, have fun.

My relationship with my mom
is actually very close.

You know, my... my mom raised me,

and my dad was never in the picture.

So me and my mom had...
always really had a good bond.

- Oh, you look beautiful.
- Thank you.

I'm glad you're back.

- I love you.
- I love you, too.

Here, these are for you.

- Oh, thank you.
- You're welcome.

- Oh, Mom, I love you.
- I love you.

You're back for good?

Yeah. Yeah.

KRISTIANNA LAUGHS
You look good.

Thank you.

- Very good.
- I love you so much, Mom.

TAMMY: 'She's been in out of prison
close to half of her life.'

I'm so very happy to see her...

..and for her to be out of prison
and be back home.

So, how was the experience
with John?

Oh...

Ah, it was all right.

I was really surprised
that the two of youse got married

after you got out of prison
yesterday.

Well, we've only been talking
for three and a half months.

So I understand.

He got down on one knee and...
and proposed to me,

and I just said yeah.

I'm just really grateful to have
this chance with John, you know?

- Yeah.
- I just don't wanna ever go back.

Well, I wish youse the best of luck.

My biggest concern is...

for her to get through

what the halfway house's rules
and regulations are

and be able to put up with them.

I feel like this time
could be different.

I pray that
it's going to be different.

But I do worry about Kristianna.

You just have to work together.

I think it's gonna take more so
with you than him.

Mm-hm.

You know, it's gonna be
a challenge.

But I know it's gonna be worth it,
too.

But I know you can do it.

KRISTIANNA: 'My mom is my world.'

And I'm scared I'm gonna lose her.

KRISTIANNA SIGHS

I don't think about that
when I'm going out and using,

think about what I'm gonna lose.

I don't think about it
until I get locked up,

and I'm confined and...

That's the BLEEP part about it.

You know...

I don't wanna end up
calling prison your home forever.

Yeah.

You're better than that.
You're stronger than that.

I've been clean
for eight and a half months.

And just everything's
very overwhelming right now.

'I have never finished out
my parole.

'I relapse and always run away
from the halfway house.'

But when I relapsed before,

I've never really had
anybody like John in my corner.

'Somebody who's not an addict.'

Somebody who does understand
where I'm coming from

and the stress of it all.

This time is different, you know.
- Yeah.

This time is a lot different.

She definitely has a long road
ahead of her.

She truly does.

Don't blow it.

I know.

As long as me and Quaylon good,
that's all that matters.

You're the only person
making y'all good.

He haven't even showed you BLEEP.

I'm here to, you know,
help you kind of figure out,

get back in that groove of what kind
of girl things we like to do.

I would love to date Shawn
and a woman at the same time.

We can all three just kind of, like,

be together, you know?
- Yeah.

My beauty routine
is always a part of my life.

Even though I'm locked down
in a cell every day,

I still put on make-up.

It makes me feel human,
it makes me feel normal.

I learned to make make-up
through pencils, pens,

and deodorant
with magazine scrapings.

You take deodorant on your Q-tip

and you rub it against
the magazine colour,

and you can literally make
eye shadow out of it.

You make mascara
with toothpaste mixed with ink

and use pencil for your eyeliner.

People are like,
"That's gonna mess up your eyes."

Well, my eyes never got messed up,
so I beg to differ.

But just making yourself,
you know,

go through your beauty routine,
it made me feel better.

Even locked down, even sad,
even when I'm a damn wreck,

on goes the lip gloss
and the mascara.

Looking better
is feeling better.

- Hello. How are you?
- Hi.

Good, how are you?
- Anything I can help you find?

My boyfriend bought a house here,
so I'm just trying to decorate it.

We can just kind of browse,
look around and see what we've got.

What I've missed most
from the outside world

since I've been in prison
is just shopping.

And even though Shawn
tried to give me a limit

of, like, $1,500 that I could spend,

I'm gonna spend whatever I want.

There's mirrors, art, clocks.

I mean, we have a little bit
of everything.

If you can kind of give me an idea
of what you're looking for, like,

then I can probably point you
in a better direction of...

Well, the thing is, is I...
To be honest with you,

like, I've been in prison
the last three years.

- OK.
- I don't know what they've got now,

these days, like...
- Yeah.

- Everything changes so frequently.
- So fast.

I've been in that boat. So I get it.
I was locked up for three years.

So...
- Oh, wow.

When I got out, everything
was different. So I get it.

And I'm here to, you know,
help you kind of figure out,

get back in that groove of what kind
of girl things we like to do.

Thank you. Well, that makes me
feel a lot better.

I like that mirror right there.
- Oh, yeah.

I love these big mirrors.
I have one in my room.

So, like, when you were in prison,

did you ever have, like,
girlfriends or...?

Yes. I did.

- That's... Are you engaged?
- Actually, no.

I got this ring here

because I had a lot
of my customers hitting on me.

So I bought it for myself,
and I put it on, so now...

You didn't like that
when people would hit on you?

Not my customers.
Not a lot of my customers.

Well, I'm your customer.

Well, I had 50-year-old guys
coming in here.

So it's OK that I'm hitting on you,
is what you're saying.

- It's OK.
- All right.

- I'm not mad.
- All right.

I've liked girls
pretty much my whole life.

Since I was younger, I always
would do things with my friends,

and I've been intimate
with women more than I have men.

I would love to date Shawn
and a woman at the same time.

I wanna marry this guy, you know.

Like, I really love him,
I care about him.

But now that I'm out,
I'm definitely gonna need

to have my little flings with girls.

And I'm definitely gonna have to,
like, ease our way into,

I mean, just be like...
- What, telling him or...?

My boyfriend's straight-edged,

I never wanted to tell him
about being with women...

You guys have never had
that conversation about it?

Mm-mm. No.

Like, I mean, eventually,
I'm hoping that we can, maybe...

I can bring somebody
in the relationship,

and he can kind of...
We can all three just kind of,

like, be together, you know?
- Yeah.

Like, what if he decides,
"This is not what I want"?

You're gonna have to go out
and find...

Girl, we're getting married.

He's spent like $50,000 on me
in prison.

I believe that.

Boxes after boxes
in other people's names.

Like, I was so spoiled.
- Right.

You just don't worry about
my boyfriend, and we like...

Let's worry about this, you know?
- About hanging out?

Yeah, let's...
No, a date, we're going on a date.

Who's paying? You, your boyfriend?

No, I... Well, he's gonna pay,
but you're gonna think I'm paying.

Do you like sushi food cos...?

- I love sushi.
- Me too. I wanna go...

Let's go to a sushi thing because
my boyfriend doesn't eat seafood.

- Oh, that's weird.
- So it's gonna have to be soon.

- OK, we can do that.
- OK.

'I'm a nympho,
so it doesn't matter, really.'

I could BLEEP a man, BLEEP a woman,
BLEEP them both.

They could BLEEP each other.
Whatever.

So, I just gave you
an additional 20% off of some of it.

Oh, is that cos
I'm taking you out on a date?

Yeah, I might as well give you
a little bit of a discount.

So your total with tax is $175.99.

Oh, that's good.

You can come right around this way
and then just enter your PIN.

OK.

So, wait, so it's not letting me.

It's, like, saying
transaction "declined." So...

Yeah. It says the card has probably
been cancelled by the issuer.

That is embarrassing.
I am super BLEEP pissed.

- 'Hello.'
- Shawn?

'Hey.'

Why is this card
saying it's declined?

'Huh.'

I'm gonna go.
I'll see you when you get home.

'All right.'
- It's not a problem.

I'll put it on hold,
and then we'll just leave it here

till you can come back tomorrow,
the next day, whichever.

- Yeah, tomorrow will be fine.
- OK.

- All right.
- Do that.

- Oh, yeah, and your number.
- Yeah, I'll give that to you.

DESTINIE: 'At first, Shawn seemed
way wealthier than I thought.

'Like, how his house is so big
and his car is so nice.'

But, like, since
I've been out of prison,

I've probably spent about $800,
$900 of Shawn's money.

Maybe Shawn cut me off
for some reason.

It's ridiculous.

Oh, my God, dude.

I'm excited about the party,
but then again, it's like, "Oh."

I am kind of nervous, you know,
with you guys meeting each other.

Just because you ain't never liked
none of my boyfriends.

None of them.

You're right, no, I'm always on ten
when it come to you, so...

- Right.
- ..this BLEEP better not make no...

no slight movement the wrong way.

That's just how I feel.

Is that a car lot?
- Just stay tuned.

Why we going to a car lot?

Shavel, what the BLEEP is this?

You buying a car?

You bought a car for yourself?
- No.

MAN: How's it going today, guys?
- Hi. How are you?

Not too bad. What can we do for you?

I came here to pick up this truck.

My name is Shavel.
- Awesome.

Everything's already done,
squared away for you.

Let me go grab the keys
for you guys,

and we'll get you out the door.

Awesome. I'll be right back.
- Whoo!

I really can't believe, like,
you just got him a car.

He got a whole starter pack.
Like, he... he's good.

This could be like
an escape vehicle for him.

He can just take
the vehicle and slide.

- He's not gonna do that.
- You don't know!

I do know. He's not gonna do that.

All you know is visitation
and phone calls.

The other night was
your first night out together

so that's all you BLEEP know.
- Absolutely.

But we know each other.

Like, that time
that I spent with Quaylon in jail,

like, we got to know each other.
But when he came home,

we got to know each other
a little bit more.

You're giving him a car?
He ain't even showed you BLEEP.

What's next? A house?
You gon' buy him a house, too?

That makes no sense at all!

As long as me and Quaylon good,
that's all that matters.

And it is what it is.
- How is he gonna make y'all good?

You're the only person
making y'all good.

You making y'all good,
he not making y'all good.

OK, and you got to...
you got to give somebody a chance.

Yes, I'm walk...
I'm walking out here on faith.

So you got to give Quaylon a chance.

I'm just gon' tell you right now,

I'm not with this BLEEP,
I'm not for this BLEEP.

I want you to know
that you have to trust me.

Just know that
I'm not gonna be gullible.

I'm just helping him
like I would help you.

You ain't even let him
show you BLEEP.

He haven't showed you nothing.

Out the gate, boom, he's coming home
right to a BLEEP car.

But listen, he's already been
showing me a little bit.

You just haven't seen it,
and you only acting like that

because you ain't never met him.
- I already don't like him.

No, everything gon' be straight
when you meet him.

BLEEP is crazy.

I look at Dmark as a brother,
and I'm worried.

She even bought him a BLEEP car.

$5,000.

I just don't know what to expect
when Dmark and Quaylon meet.

So... I'm a little nervous.

DMARK:
Man, it ain't even about the truck.

It's about she just spent $5,000

on somebody she barely
even BLEEP knows.

That's gullible as BLEEP to me.
Haven't showed you nothing.

Haven't showed you, like,
nothing they got to offer,

and you just give, give, give,
give, give, give, give.

With me knowing what I know now,

like, I don't even...
I don't even know,

like, how I'm about to react
to even seeing him or meeting him.

I don't even know if I even BLEEP
wanna meet him no more.

JESSICA: I think telling my parents
that you broke the parole rules

would be a bad idea.

How you feel taking
a Black man home right now?

DOOR BELL RINGS
I'm nervous.

- Babe?
- Huh?

- You ready?
- Mm-hm.

What are you doing?

HE GAGS

You don't have to spit
in the toilet, honey.

You OK?

- Yeah, for sure.
- You're not nervous?

I look like a hoodlum,
but it's all right, though.

- Just take off the... thing.
- I'm going there like this, babe.

- No, you're taking that off.
- I'm going in there with this on.

I got to let my hair lay down, baby.

- It's fine.
- I'm gon' take it off, though.

I'm gon' take it off.

Yeah. I just got to...
- OK.

I mean, it's not an issue.
I'm just saying.

- That's how I get my BLEEP right.
- I know.

All right, let's go.

All right, honey,
make sure the garage is locked.

So, Maurice and I just got to Vegas,

and now it's time for us
to meet my parents.

And I'm feeling a little anxious.

I believe Maurice is gonna
have to prove himself

for them to trust him
and take him in as a son-in-law.

I think telling my parents
that you broke the parole rules

would be a bad idea.
- I know, babe.

JESSICA:
OK. Just don't let it slip up.

I'm worried that my parents

will be pretty upset
when they find out

that Maurice is violating his parole
right now to be here.

And I really don't wanna have
to say anything to them now

because he's on strike two of three,

and if he was to get
that third strike,

he's in there for life.

This is a nice neighbourhood.

That's a four-car garage.
BLEEP damn.

That thing phat. Ooh!
That's MTV Cribs!

So, how you feel taking
a Black man home right now?

I don't feel any type of way.

You don't?

- No.
- You sure?

'Maurice and I come
from different worlds.'

Maurice's life growing up
was a lot harder than mine was.

'They didn't have a lot of money.'

Why would it be any different
if you were white?

BLEEP white go with white, don't it?
- No.

- Nah, I'm just talking.
SHE LAUGHS

Damn.

Mm-mm-mm.

JESSICA: 'So, my parents
have a right to be concerned

'because, you know,
my relationship with Maurice.'

But, I mean, I hope that
it's mainly because of his past

and that's the only reason why.

MAURICE: 'I'm nervous on
meeting Jessica's parents.'

Just on the simple fact
that, you know,

I wouldn't know how to feel
if my daughter brung a man home

a different race
and just got out of prison

and done some things
that he's not proud of.

DOOR BELL CHIMES

'But hopefully,
if they do accept me,

'it'll make everything more easier.'

LINDSEY:
'Hi, honey. So, I have news.'

My nerves are shot. They're gone.

HEATHER: Babe!

Hell's gonna come down
if something happens.

Are you just gonna send me
some money or what?

- BLEEP. I'm caught.
JOHN: That's not good.

'This is gonna be
a nerve-wracking day.'

She could possibly
go back to prison.

- I don't see you staying at all.
- Who said I ain't?

I just hope she is
who you think she is.

- Sorry-a*s BLEEP.
- Stop.

Have her call you, you lying BLEEP.
