STACEY: When I met Justin, it
was such a different feeling

than I'd ever had before.

It was a breath of fresh air.

I finally met somebody genuine.

♪ ♪

JUSTIN: It actually
says it's a boy.

STACEY: Aw!

My mom's always been a
bright light in our lives.

But it was 10 times
brighter with Justin.

STACEY: Justin
was a good doctor,

and he was a big kid at heart.

-[roaring]
-[giggles]

STACEY: He was
all I ever wanted.

LESLIE: He gave them
that perfect life.

But he's also the person
that took it away.

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

TYLER: I was just in,
like, absolute disbelief.

I mean, it makes
no f*cking sense.

ANDREA: To see what
someone was willing to do,

the instructions of taking
another person's life,

it was terrifying.

STACEY: They were to
k*ll him painlessly.

And then he wanted him
either buried in a forest

or burned in a barrel.

TOMMY: This is the type of
sh*t that rips families apart,

and they don't ever
go back together.

♪ ♪

STACEY: There are so many
sick people out there,

and I didn't realize that
one was living with us.

[suspenseful music]

♪ ♪

ANDREA: We have talked a lot

about the different
aspects of your story,

but the one thing I wanna spend
some time on understanding

is the love story
between you and Justin.

[soft music]

You were searching for so long
to find something like that.

Everybody knows
dating is horrible.

It's hard getting
to know somebody.

And genuinely, it was like
being with my best friend.

There was a comfort
that I had never felt.

This was who God made for me.

Stacey.

I can't believe he would
want to k*ll anybody,

let alone a child.

That was not
anybody that I knew.

And I think that he
still, to this day,

believes that in some way,

he's gonna explain
his way out of this.

I am Stacey Rutherford.

♪ ♪

I was born and raised
in Decatur, Illinois.

I have one sister.

Her and I had a lot
of fun together.

Like, she was my best friend.

We lived pretty much just
a very middle-class life.

We had a really good childhood.

ANDREA: As a kid,
she had a happy home

and a supportive family,

but she often struggled
with how she looked

and how she thought
about herself.

And I think that
that is so relatable.

I have always struggled
with my weight,

but I lost a lot of
weight in high school,

and I had huge
confidence boost in that.

That's when I met my
high school boyfriend.

But he ended up
breaking up with me

the end of our senior
year for another girl.

And of course, you know,

anybody takes stuff
like that hard.

And I think I internalized
it that it was my fault.

He left because you
weren't funny enough.

He left 'cause you
weren't pretty enough.

So I think that's where a lot
of the insecurities came from.

ANDREA: Shortly after Stacey
graduates high school,

she goes to a party and she
just happens to meet this guy,

and they really hit it off.

STACEY: We grew up together.

Our dads coached ball together.

But he had went
off to the military

and I hadn't seen him
for a really long time.

And he realized who I was,

and he was like,
oh, my gosh, you're,

like, little Stacy Fleener.

And we just got to talking
and started dating from there.

We got married while
I was still 18.

And then I had Mikayla

about two weeks before
my 19th birthday.

I say that Mikayla and
I grew up together,

especially when we
moved to Virginia...

And I had no one.

MIKAYLA: We would always go to
the aquarium, go to the zoo.

We were kind of besties.

STACEY: And then Tyler was born

when Mikayla was 6.

So I was a young mom.

HEATHER: I think that's when
things were kind of rough.

He worked a lot, and she
was home with the kids,

and it was tough.

We didn't have much, but
we could make anything fun.

And I feel we
still are that way.

STACEY: My first husband and I,

we didn't have
the best marriage,

but we didn't have
a terrible marriage.

I don't think that we had a
lot of love and passion there.

You know, if I wouldn't have
got pregnant with Mikayla,

I don't know if we
would have ever got

to a point of being married.

Summer of 2007,
my husband started

to become really distant.

And one night we
were laying in bed,

and he just rolled
over and he said,

"I'm not happy,

and I haven't been for
a really long time."

♪ ♪

It was almost like he hated
me, and I didn't know why.

And I ended up
finding phone records

of him talking to
the woman I thought

he was having an affair with.

I was like, okay, we
can work this out.

We can try to stay together.

And he was like, nope.

I thought it was my weight.

I remember I went three
weeks without eating.

Because I thought, if I
could just get skinny quick,

he would stay.

And he said, it's not
your weight, Stacey.

I felt like my world was
spinning out of control

and I didn't know
how to make it stop.

MIKAYLA: It's
definitely a scary time.

As a kid, you just
know that you're

getting in a car with
your mom and your brother

and your dad's staying back.

It was just me,
my mom, my sister.

But I think we made the
best out of the situation.

HEATHER: She dated some,

but she just kind of let
guys treat her like crap.

STACEY: I knew deep down
that I deserved better,

but I think there was a
part of me that didn't think

I deserved better
because I failed.

I failed at marriage.

I failed at keeping
a family together.

I failed at keeping
a husband happy.

LESLIE: When we were
working together,

she vented to me a lot.

Just, what did I do wrong?

I just wanted to
always be a wife.

I thought I did
everything right.

So we were always
trying to connect her

with the single
guys that came in.

TYLER: I just love her so much,

but she didn't have quite
the best choice in men.

And my sister was not fond
of really any of them.

Every time that I knew
she was on a date,

I tried everything
to ruin it for her.

So for example, there was one
time where she had told me

to stay home and watch Tyler.

And then the whole
date, I'm, like,

blowing her phone
up and telling her,

oh, Tyler stubbed his toe.

Like, you need to come
home. I think it's broken.

I mean, she would
just try her hardest

to be the biggest
annoyance possible.

MIKAYLA: I don't think Tyler
really cared that Mom dated.

He just genuinely wanted
her to just move on

and be happy and find everything

that she deserved in life.

I remember he even
told me one time,

come on, quit being so
mean. Quit being so mean.

And like, that's sad
that a seven-year-old

had to tell me that.

But I was not listening
to him at all.

STACEY: I felt
like I was getting

the short end of the stick.

And I remember having
a moment with God,

and I just said, if it's meant
for me to be with somebody,

you can bring them to me.

♪ ♪

That night, my friend
Karen, she said,

I have this med student
that I'm at work with.

I think you would
really like him.

And I already gave
him your number.

So a couple days later, I ended
up going on a date with him.

He just was like,
hey, I'm Justin.

And we immediately hit it off.

His personality was
the same as mine.

We laughed the entire time.

We talked about, like,
tables next to us.

We'd, like, play these
little scenarios,

what they were
saying to each other.

And I called my dad on the
way home, and I was just like,

I think I found my husband.

And that's when he was like,
did you say that to him?

I was like, oh, no,
it's all up here.

And it just went from there.

And we pretty much spent

as much time
together as we could.

♪ ♪

When I met Justin, he
was a bigger guy too.

And he never had a
problem with my weight

or anything like that.

It was kind of, for me,
the first time in my life

where I felt like somebody
just saw me for me.

LESLIE: It was like
a soul connection.

He was home for her.

So it was good to
see her smile again.

That's all I ever
wanted as a friend.

I felt dead inside
for a long time

after my first husband
and I got divorced,

and it made me feel alive again.

Justin knew that I had
children because of my friend

that had set us up.

And he was like,
no, I love kids.

I don't have a problem.
I got nieces and nephews.

But I'd heard so many
stories of horrible stepdads,

so I wanted to make sure that
it was something that was good.

So it had been a few months.

MIKAYLA: I remember
being like, oh, heck no.

I don't wanna meet this guy.

Like, he's probably ugly,
and he's probably mean.

And all he's probably
gonna do is just, like,

walk all over Mom
and then leave.

And he introduced himself
and just kind of, like,

sat there and was like,
any questions you have,

I'll answer them.

I'm an open book.

And it was, like,
immediate relief.

So he's not just some
d*uche bag who's coming in,

you know, trying to, like,
bang my mom and then leave.

It was nice seeing my
mom happy with someone

because we usually
didn't see it.

We were seeing her getting hurt.

So it was nice to see
that change for once.

He just made my mom
smile. He made her laugh.

He made her happy.

And he was down to go play
football with me outside.

And no man other
than, like, my father

had ever just been
willing to do that.

MIKAYLA: When he left, he
gave us hugs and told us

he was excited to see us again.

And we all were just,
like, in awe that

this was actually
even happening.

[laughing] Ooh, yes.

LESLIE: I did feel that he
was a little bit immature,

but he was gonna be a doctor
and he was so intelligent.

So I didn't really think
that was a bad thing.

He knew about computers.

He knew about anything
to do with programming.

He just was smart.

STACEY: He was almost
like a big brother

but also a dad figure.

Mikayla always had this
hunger for wanting a dad.

Her dad was just not
necessarily nonexistent,

but very cut off.

So I think when she realized,

hey, this guy isn't too bad,

she just grabbed a
hold of it and hung on.

♪ ♪

MIKAYLA: I was actually going
through a lot in high school.

I was very angry at the
world for whatever reason.

Like, life hated
me and I hated it.

And getting his
perspective on things

inspired me to go to school
for psychology and get a degree

and live my best
life, essentially.

[laughter]

STACEY: I think he
saw things in Mikayla

that she didn't see.

You know, same thing with Tyler.

TYLER: We got along
like father and son,

and we also got
along like friends.

[laughing]

He was always willing to
help me with my schoolwork

when I was struggling,

and he pushed me
to be good at that.

And I was, due to his efforts.

[suspenseful music]

At that point, I
didn't know anything.

I never would have imagined

that it would have went
the way that it did.

♪ ♪

[calm music]

♪ ♪

MIKAYLA: When I was a teenager,

Mom let me know, hey,
Justin got matched

at a residency program
in Pennsylvania.

Like, we're moving.

And I was like, oh. Okay, yeah.

This is definitely serious

and marriage is
definitely on the way

if we're moving in with him.

I do remember being excited

just to start a
new life together

and have a little family.

We rented a house, and it was
in a beautiful neighborhood.

Then Mom and Justin announced
to us that they were pregnant,

and that added a whole new
happiness in our house.

STACEY: I never thought
I'd get to have more kids.

So I was so excited
to be a mom again.

And I know that
Mikayla and Tyler,

they just wanted
siblings so bad too.

TYLER: For whatever
reason, I always wanted

to be a big brother.

I guess a little trial run
for one day having kids.

STACEY: Justin had already
talked to the doctor.

She's like, yeah, you can
step in and deliver the baby.

So Justin was there, and
Mikayla and Tyler were there.

For me, it was one of the
most beautiful moments.

STACEY: You want a little
brother or little sister?

She's like, no.

Not long after they
have their first child,

Stacey gets pregnant again.

STACEY: Stop it. Quit cheating.

JUSTIN: You can't
see anything anyway.

STACEY: Just spill it out.

Just turn it upside down.

Don't cheat.

JUSTIN: Oh, God.

It's pink again.

[laughter]

STACEY: No. I know.

That's why she's there.

JUSTIN: Oh, God.
Thank you, Jesus.

It actually says it's a boy.

STACEY: Aw.

JUSTIN: I was about
two seconds away

from actually dropping
to the ground.

Her decision to have
kids with Justin

was proving how much she
trusted in their relationship

and in him.

STACEY: Yay!

Little brother!

Yay!

In our house, we also
had Justin's godmother.

So Justin and I's second
date, he asked me,

hey, can my godmother
come along with us?

And I was like, I guess.

And she just became kind
of a permanent fixture

in our relationship.

Nanny was Justin's
mom's best friend.

They lived together.

They basically
raised him together.

She was there when he was born.

TYLER: Deborah and
Justin's relationship

was almost like a
mother-son relationship.

She watched the kids.
She cleaned the house.

She took care of things
for Stacey and Justin.

We called her Nanny McDee
because she just reminded us

of the movie Nanny McPhee.

She was the nanny of the house.

Nanny McPhee will
keep you all in order.

Won't you, Nanny McPhee?

I shall do my best, sir.

ANDREA: She has got
this tough personality,

but she would do
anything for the family.

STACEY: We would always
say, if you want loyal,

Nanny was your lady.

And when Justin's
mom passed away,

she asked her to look after him.

And she took that
role very seriously.

[soft music]

STACEY: So at the time
of our engagement,

we had been together
three years.

And we would always go
for our anniversary dinner

at Cheesecake Factory.

ANDREA: Justin's in residency.

They have two little kids.

Life is really hectic.

But finally they have this one
moment to have a date night

and Justin pops the question.

♪ ♪

STACEY: I was excited.

I was happy.

You know, that's
all I ever wanted,

was to get married
and have kids.

So I loved it.

When I found out
that she was engaged

and going to get married,
I was super stoked.

I mean, I was so happy.

MIKAYLA: The marriage came,
and it was at a courthouse.

And the goal was to
have, like, a big party

when they could afford
it after residency.

STACEY: It was
the life I wanted.

It was the person that I wanted.

So it didn't matter
to me where it was.

And that day, for
me, was so exciting.

It's like, it's official.

Like, I mean, you've
been my father figure,

and you've been my mom's
husband in my eyes,

but, like, finally, on
paper, legally, you are.

STACEY: After all of those
years that I was single

and going through horrible
date after horrible date

and disappointment and
getting excited for things

and then being let
down, I felt safe.

And he made me feel that
nothing was impossible,

that we were gonna
have this amazing life,

and that there were so many
more good moments ahead.

♪ ♪

ANDREA: Once Justin graduates
and has done residency,

they know that they need a house

to really build their life.

And so they find
this dream home.

This neighborhood
is amazing, Stacey.

I loved it.

Like, I knew when we first
came here for our walkthrough,

I could just see my
kids growing up here.

-And this is the house.
-Yeah.

[soft music]

HEATHER: We didn't
come from money.

And Stacey had struggled
for many, many years.

And I think she thought,
God's rewarding me.

You know, we went
from a two-bedroom

apartment to a townhouse.

We've lived in trailers
when we were younger.

Like, we didn't have the
most perfect, lavish house.

And I remember getting
to the Douglasville house

and just seeing
how massive it was.

It almost felt like
it wasn't even real.

Even when Tommy moved
in, it never felt like

we were over top of each other.

I'm Tommy Harris, and
I'm Mikayla's husband.

[soft music]

I met her at a barbecue.

We started talking and dating,
and then I moved in with them.

I met her mom, and
me and her got along

very well immediately.

Justin, it was, you know,
just meeting the dad.

He's not much older than me,

so it kind of threw
me for a loop there.

But other than that,
he's a pretty cool dude.

I mean, easy to live with.

And then Tyler, we would
always bicker back and forth,

but there was camaraderie.

Like, we busted each
other's ba*ls all the time.

You know, he was like
a little brother.

It was really good, you know?

LESLIE: I didn't get
to visit it much,

but when I did come
and visit, I was like,

whoa, this is gorgeous...

especially the
heated pool. [laughs]

TYLER: As a kid,
it was like a dream

to have a house with a pool.

I felt like we made it.

MIKAYLA: I remember, like,
telling Tyler, you A-hole.

You get this growing up.

I, like, was slumming it
compared to you right now.

TYLER: Man, that
thing got some use.

I had a big group of friends.

And if we all wanted
to have a good time

and didn't know what to do,
we just came to my house.

Stacey's house was
definitely a gathering place.

ALL: Hi, Aunt Heather.

LESLIE: It was
just a happy place.

There was no darkness.

ALL: ♪ Happy birthday to you ♪

[cheering]

ANDREA: It's so apparent

how much this house
has meant to you guys

and what it symbolized for you.

Yeah.

Is it hard to be here?

STACEY: A little bit.

[somber music]

This was something that...

something that I thought
was unattainable.

And then it happened.

There he is.

Merry Christmas.

[siren wailing]

ANDREA: This house
had a lot of love.

STACEY: Oh, so much.

I thought.

I had so many plans
for that house.

I remember thinking that I
couldn't believe it was mine.

Sorry.

ANDREA: The family moved into
the house in June of 2019.

And then in the summer of 2021,

that's when things
went sideways.

The life that she
thought she was living

essentially vanished.

[ominous music]

♪ ♪

STACEY: I went to work.

And I am on my way home,
and we were gonna have

BLTs and baked potatoes.

And I was stopping
to get tomatoes.

Nanny never called me.

And she called me.

She said, hey, where are you at?

I said, is everything okay?

She said, just come home.

I pull in the neighborhood,

and there were cars
in my driveway,

SUVs, vans, things like that.

I remember thinking,
something's not right.

But I didn't know what.

And as I got out of my car,

an officer came
out the front door.

And he just said, ma'am,
everything's okay.

Just come with me.

And I walk inside,

and I could tell that people
were raiding our house.

They took me immediately
around the corner,

down to the man cave.

And when we got down the
stairs, the detective said,

I'm sure you know
why we're here.

I said, I absolutely don't
know why you're here.

And he said, this
is what happened.

And I was just like, what?

No way.

♪ ♪

[ominous music]

♪ ♪

TYLER: I was working
a landscaping job

over the summer.

And I got home from work,
and I noticed there was

a bunch of cars in the
driveway and up the street.

And I figured it was
just one of our parties

I wasn't aware of.

And then I opened the door,
and it's a bunch of cops.

♪ ♪

One talked to me and told me
that my mom was downstairs

and I needed to go
talk to her real quick.

STACEY: When they
took me downstairs,

the detective had all the
photos laid out on the table.

The first photo just looked like

a regular cell phone charger.

I didn't understand
the relevance of that.

Then it looked like
they had taken it apart.

And then...

there were pictures
of my children naked.

♪ ♪

It was just this sick feeling.

TYLER: I go downstairs.

I see my mom, and
she looks broken.

ANDREA: Stacey didn't know it,

but this day was
coming for three weeks.

Ever since Tyler's friend
found a hidden camera

in the bathroom and reported it.

♪ ♪

JEFFREY: My name's
Jeffrey Smith.

I am the chief of police
for Amity Township

Police Department
in Pennsylvania.

We got a call to see a parent
because their teenage son

found a suspicious device
at a friend's house.

Essentially, it looked
like a, uh, phone charger.

But upon closer look...

There was a camera
installed on it.

The child that was
visiting the friend's house

was able to bring
it home with them,

showed it to his mom.

And when they verified that
there was an SD card inside,

you know, they were terrified
about it and they contacted us.

MIKE: My name is Mike Fick.

I'm a sergeant with
the Berks County

District Attorney's Office.

Amity asked us if we
would take the case

'cause we have more knowledge
and experience in this field.

Detective Weaver
agreed to take it.

And then in the course
of his investigation,

he saw people in
this state of nudity,

which we have an
invasion of privacy.

Some of the individuals
were under the age of 18,

which would make it
child abuse material.

And a lot of it was
family members, you know,

in the home that would
use the bathroom.

I know the nanny that was in
the home, she was in there.

A lot of the boys would go in,

and of course, when
they stand to urinate,

it would capture that.

And coming out of the shower,
those people were captured.

So we ex*cuted a search
warrant at the house.

And at that time, we
were in there to take

every electronic device.

But we couldn't
prove at that point

who did, in fact, place
that camera there.

Instantly I thought, well,

maybe the people that
lived here before us

put cameras in the house.

And then I see this one shot...

Of a man's hand in a photo
where his hand was like this.

And how they got that
shot was from a video.

He had taken his hand to place
the motion-activated camera.

And I knew that was
Justin's wedding ring.

I thought, no, there's no way.

It was hard to believe
that this is who he was,

and this is what
could be happening,

especially when that
person has done nothing

but be a good doctor,
a good husband,

and push your kids to be good
people, deliver your babies.

ANDREA: Earlier that day, she
thought she had a happy life,

a great family, a safe home.

But seeing his hand
in that photograph

shattered that
reality instantly.

MIKE: I felt she
honestly had no knowledge

of a camera being there.

She was visibly upset.

She was embarrassed.

She's the wife, the mother.

And I think she was
blaming herself,

like how couldn't she know this?

And at that time, we
did talk to the nanny

that was in the
home, Deborah Klein.

She had no knowledge
of the camera.

Justin Rutherford was there.

He didn't wanna talk to us.

He said he was gonna have
a lawyer, so of course,

we couldn't question
him any further.

Now, that's your
right, but immediately,

he took a standoffish
stance with us.

And when we went to
take his cell phone,

he actually tried to delete
something from it quick.

And that, you know,
threw the red flags up.

STACEY: I felt disgusted,
violated, scared for my kids.

What were you doing
with their photos?

There are so many
sick people out there,

and I didn't realize that

one was living with us.

♪ ♪

[suspenseful music]

ANDREA: The hidden
camera imploded

this dream life for Stacey.

Almost instantly, this
betrayal transforms Justin

from a loving husband
into a complete stranger.

So who is this person?

At that point, had you seen him

or had any interaction
with him at all?

The only interaction I
had with him at the time

was when I walked in the house.

He was at the table with cops
all around him at the table.

So you identify
the wedding ring,

and then did they just
ask a few questions

and then, like, head out?

Pretty much at that point,

they had been there for a while,

so they kind of
wrapped everything up.

And in the basement,
they had told me

this was just a warrant to
get some of the electronics.

So we're not taking him with
us tonight when we leave.

MIKE: There was
additional forensic work

we had to do from the items
that we seized in the home.

And also, Detective Weaver
had to identify every person

that was captured on video.

TYLER: At that
point, CPS had come

and started asking me questions.

It was stuff like,
you know, has anything

ever happened in the house?

Do you feel unsafe?

I didn't even get up yet,
and he's already rolling.

TYLER: And I told them
I felt safe and whatnot,

but shocked like everyone else.

STACEY: They packed
everything up.

And at that time was
when I went upstairs

and he was standing
in the kitchen.

He was like, this isn't
true. You know me.

You know I wouldn't
do anything like this.

This could ruin my career

if people hear this
and believe this.

And I said, no, I need
you to shut the f*ck up

and get out of my house.

And he said, Stacey,
you're really gonna ruin

your marriage over this?

And I said, no, you
ruined our marriage.

I need you to either get out

or I'm gonna leave
with the kids.

And he said, okay, I'll go.

And he stayed at one of
his co-residents' house.

At that time, I went out
and I called my sister.

HEATHER: She told me
that they had found

some cameras in her home,
and I was devastated.

My heart broke for the journey

that she was getting
ready to be on.

STACEY: She said, we've
gotta get you guys

out of that house.

And Tyler needs to get
here, because it was

the end of the
summer and, you know,

Tyler was getting ready
to start school soon.

We've gotta get him
enrolled in school.

He can't fall behind.

I mean, I was kind of
pissed. I didn't wanna leave.

I had all my friends.

I had all my stuff there.

So I was every emotion you
could think of but happy.

STACEY: So Tyler left.

And I remember laying
in bed thinking,

where am I gonna live?

How am I gonna take
care of the kids?

And I just thought,
my life's about ready

to fall apart again.

I actually found out
about the police raid

a month after it happened.

TOMMY: We were living in
Harrisburg at the time,

and drove to Douglasville
to visit the kids

and Mom and everybody.

We get there and it's,
like, awkwardly silent.

TOMMY: The only person there was

the two little ones and Stacey.

We were sitting on the
couch and she said,

I need to talk to you.

I said, sh*t, do I
need to grab a beer?

'Cause I got beer.

So she's like, yeah,
you're gonna need

to grab a beer for this one.

She's like, so this isn't
really something I just,

like, call you and tell you.

Then she starts telling
the story of how a camera

was found in the bathroom.

And I just was like, wait, what?

I did not think it was Justin.

And then that's when she
tells me that he was, like,

prime suspect at the time.

What do you say to your
mom who just found out

that her husband may
possibly be recording people

in their bathroom?

It took a while to process it.

Like, I wouldn't
think that Justin

would be capable of
something like this.

MIKAYLA: A couple days
later, I'm driving to work.

At the time, I was a
front desk associate

at an outpatient
psychiatry office.

And I saw a Snapchat come
through from Tyler's friend.

And I opened it.

And he explains that

one night, Justin
had got him drunk,

and while he was
under the influence,

Justin had abused him.

TOMMY: That's when
it was like, okay,

he's not just,
like, a peeping Tom.

This dude's a monster.

♪ ♪

[suspenseful music]

MIKAYLA: After Tyler's friend
messaged me on Snapchat

and told me that
Justin had abused him,

I remember I was sitting
so long at that light

that somebody behind me honked.

[horn honking]

And then I kind of, like,
snapped back to reality.

I messaged back and I went
kind of, like, into work mode.

I told him countless
times, you're strong.

I want you to know that
I'm very proud of you.

But with this, I
have to report it.

I could lose my job if I don't.

I cried it out a bit, and
then I composed myself,

and I drove to
the police station

to meet with detectives.

I was like, hi, I am Justin
Rutherford's stepdaughter.

I just had a boy come
forward and tell me

that he had been touched by him.

And then after I gave all the
evidence about Tyler's friend,

then they laid the binder
out in front of me.

I start flipping through
and they're like, okay,

we're gonna have you identify

all the people who
were on the camera.

So many naked people.

And so many innocent
people that just...

using a bathroom, man.

And it, like, made me
sick to my stomach.

And then they flip out
a whole new binder.

And that was all me.

Then towards the back
of it was me and Tommy.

There was video
recording of him and I

doing sexual acts
in the bathroom.

And then it started to sink in
like, oh, my God, I'm a victim.

And then I started
to get, like, angry.

Was all of this
just a grand scheme?

Like, were we just
part of a master plan?

All of it was just like
a mind f*ck, basically.

STACEY: Mikayla
called me at work,

and then she told me about the
message from Tyler's friend.

As soon as I heard that,

I just had this sick feeling
in the pit of my stomach.

And immediately, she's
like, I'm leaving work.

I'm packing the kids.
Like, we gotta go.

ANDREA: At this point,
Justin's not arrested.

He's still out.

And Stacey does not
feel safe in her home.

She doesn't trust Justin.
She doesn't know Justin.

So she quickly packs up
her bags, her kids' bags,

and she makes an excuse.

And she heads to
Mikayla's house.

MIKAYLA: When we all got
back to the apartment,

I was like, Mom, it's bad.

I wrote a whole research
paper on sexual as*ault,

and I'm telling you that
once one comes forward,

it is a domino effect.

And I was like, do
you think, like,

something happened to Tyler?

And Mom says social
services talked to him

and he passed with
flying colors.

And they told me that
he loved his stepdad

and everything was fine.

And I'm like, oh,
thank God. Okay.

And now I'm freaking
out. Who else is it?

Who are these other
dominoes going to be?

MIKE: Before the
victim came forward,

we didn't know that
we actually had people

that were being sexually
abused by Justin.

But there was nothing
captured on the video

as far as sexual abuse.

And at that point,
I was thinking,

do we have enough
to charge Justin?

ANDREA: The problem with
the case against Justin

was that the victim
that had come forward,

there was no physical evidence.

And also, the
victim claimed that

he was under the influence.

And so authorities said there
was an issue of credibility

to the testimony, and the
prosecution was worried

that it wasn't a slam dunk.

So even with all the evidence,
with the 3,000 videos,

the 1,400 photos, the
defense could argue

that Justin meant
to record adults.

STACEY: The detectives told
me that he could get off

with probation
because he had never

had any brushes with the law.

He was a doctor. He was
an upstanding citizen.

And when I called
my sister, I said,

if it's a misdemeanor charge
and he just gets probation,

he's gonna have our kids,

and I have to let them go
stay the night with him.

And I was sick
thinking that I would

have to send my kids to him.

HEATHER: After I got off
the phone with my sister,

Tyler asked what was going on.

And I said, well, your
friend has come forward

and said that Justin has
been inappropriate with him.

TYLER: She was talking about how

even if the charges with
my friend come to light,

it doesn't help that he
was under the influence.

And the charges with the cameras

will only be a misdemeanor.

HEATHER: And I said to
him, I said, you know what

the sad part about this is?

If they only get him
for lewd behavior,

he will have visitation

with your brother
and sister someday.

And his eyes filled
up with tears.

And we both just started
crying, because I knew.

TYLER: I told her,
once I tell the police

what I have to say,
he'll never get out.
