04x41 - The Heartbreak of Brock

Post by bunniefuu »

- Our heroes have been traveling
all day on their journey

toward the Johto Gym
in Olivine City.

Now it's getting late,

and they need a place
to spend the night.

- Did you figure out where the
Pokémon Center is yet, Brock?

- Not yet.

- Ah.
- Pika.

- Excuse me.

Could you tell us where
the Pokémon Center is?

- Pokémon Center?

- Huh?
Oh.

- Forget the Pokémon Center.

I'm Brock.

I'm new in town,
and I'm free for dinner tonight.

You look hungry.

Pick a place, any place at all.

- Uh, uh--

- I think she has reservations
about dinner.

- I'm sorry,
but unfortunately,

there isn't
a Pokémon Center here.

There's one about ten miles away
in the next town.

- We've been walking all day.

Ten miles is way too far.

Where're we gonna stay tonight?

- We don't have a choice.

Guess we'll have to stay here.

- Well, at least
we're in a beautiful park

with nice clean running water.

- Nida, Nida.

Nida, Nida.

- Hey, a Nidorina.

- Hey, come on, Nidorina.

We have to go home.

[yelps]

- Look out!

[both grunt]

- Hey, you almost fell in.

- Yeah, thanks a--

[squeals]

- It's a lucky thing I was here
to catch you, wasn't it?

- Oh, yes, it was
the luckiest thing ever.

- My name's Temacu.

What's the name of
the dashing hero who saved me?

- Uh, well, Temacu,
my name's Brock.

- I love that name,

and I love the man
it belongs to.

- Uh, that's me.

- Huh?
- Pika?

- Togi?

[singing]
- Pokémon, Pokémon, Pokémon

- Let's do it.

I wanna be the very best

Like no one ever was

Ever was, ever was

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

My whole life has led to this

Time to test my skills

I know I just can't miss

Gonna show the world

Born to be a winner

- Johto

- Born to be a champion

Born to be a winner

Born to be the very best

- Pokémon
- Johto

- Born to be a winner

Pokémon

- The name "Temacu" comes
from a combination of names

of Pokémon
that have my personality.

- Huh?

- The "Te" comes from
cute Teddiursa,

the "ma" comes from
super-cuddly Mareep,

and the "cu" comes
from the lonely little Cubone.

That's why I'm "Temacu."

- That's very--

- Your name should be something
like "Exbracloy."

You wanna know why?

I'll be glad to explain it.

- Well--

- You're tough on the outside
like Exeggcute.

You're brainy and handsome
like Abra,

and you're beautiful
on the inside

just like the beautiful pearl
that's inside a Cloyster.

- But you don't have to change
your first name, Brock.

I'll be glad to change
my last name.

- [stammers]

- I can see us now,
you in a pure white tuxedo

and me
in a pale pink wedding gown.

Oh!

- Wow, imagine Brock married?

-You and I will be married
someday too.

- Mm-hmm.

Huh?

- I've been looking all over
for you.

Ready to go home?

- I'm glad you're here.

Daddy, I'd like you to meet
Brock.

- Hello, Brock.

Very nice to meet you.

Huh, does this tent
belong to you?

- Yes, sir.

There's no Pokémon Center here

so we're gonna camp out.

- I have an idea.

Brock, why don't come and stay
at our house?

Can they, Daddy?

Please, can they stay?

- Sure, that's a fine idea.

You're more than welcome
to stay with us.

- Thank you very much, sir.

- Pikachu.

- This is great, isn't it?

Hey, Brock,
what's the matter?

You look like you're in a daze.

Snap out of it.

- [stammering]

- Isn't this exciting?

Come on, let's go.
- [yelps]

- Brock's gonna spend
the night in a daze.

- Togi.

- Wow, you sure have
a lot of Pokémon.

- That's because my father does
his Pokémon research here.

- So this is really
a Pokémon laboratory.

- I suppose
you could call it that.

Unfortunately,
I have some work to do,

but please make yourselves
at home.

[Pokémon chattering]

- I hope you all like the dinner
I made.

I was thinking of Brock
the whole time I was making it.

- Yeah, it's fine.

- Do you really like it, Brock?

- It's okay.

- You really do, Brock?

I could make this for you
every night.

- No, thank you.

- [Pokémon chattering]

- Here.

- Oh, thanks a lot.

- How many lumps of sugar

would you like, Brock?

- Uh.

- Tell her.

How many lumps do you want?

- I'd like , please.

- That's a lot of sugar.

- Maybe I should cut back.

How 'bout ?
[groans]

- Oh, Brock.

I just love
your wacky sense of humor.

- Why don't you just start
with one?

- How's it feel, Brock?

After chasing after
so many girls for so long,

you finally have a girl who's
chasing after you for a change.

- [groans]

- Brock is great.

He can do practically anything.

He cooks, he cleans, he sews,

and even makes
his own Pokémon food.

- Wow, you sound like
the perfect guy, Brock.

- Eh.

- The wedding I have planned
is perfect too.

I'm wearing a perfect pink
wedding dress,

and the perfect guy's
next to me.

- Together we climb up
a long, long stairway.

At the top,
our wedding cake awaits us.

It's perfect.

- Wouldn't it be, Brock?

- Uh.

- Uh?
Hmm.

- Brock.
- Huh?

- We need to talk.
- [grunts]

[Pokémon chattering]

- What's the matter with you,
Brock?

That girl really likes you.

Why can't you talk to her

instead of grunting
and groaning?

- Well, I don't know.

I've never been in a situation
like this before.

I don't exactly know
what to say to her.

- That's lame.

Just say anything

She's lobbing you
one big softball after another

and all you have to do
is step up to the plate

and take a swing, and you'll hit
a home run every time.

- You think so?

- Of course.

Listen up.

If you strike out with her,
the game's over.

You'll never play
in the love league again.

- [yells]

Oh, no!

- This is your last chance!

- Oh, maybe not.

- Brock, think about it.

How many of the girls who
you've fallen madly in love with

have ever fallen
madly in love with you?

- Not one.

- Take it from me.

It's a lot easier to like
someone who likes you

than to like someone
who doesn't.

- How do you know?

- Uh, well,
that's what I've heard.

- Love isn't always easy,
is it, Misty?

- Wooper, Wooper.

- I have about Pokémon now,

but I plan to expand
my laboratory

so I'll be able to accommodate
more than a hundred.

- That'd be great.

- With all those new Pokémon,

it'd be nice to have
a smart assistant.

- That's true.

I'll need help.

- Brock is a super-fantastic
Pokémon Breeder, Daddy.

I think he'd be
the perfect person

to help you manage
the Pokémon lab.

- Me?
Perfect?

- Don't you think it'd be great

to spend every day
working side-by-side

so we could get to know
each other better and better?

- Uh, maybe.

- Excuse us.

- [pained grunt]

Not the ear.

- What's wrong, Brock?

You're still not stepping up
to the plate.

- Well, actually,
I was thinking about this thing

all night long.

- Just stop thinking,

and just start doing.

Get in there
and swing at those pitches.

- But maybe a relationship
should start out

with both people liking
each other, maybe.

- She's your only hope!

Force yourself to like her!

- Look at this.

I raised this Nidorina
all by myself.

If you had a Nidorino,
we could match them up

and raise them together.

- That's a good idea,
but I don't have a Nidorino.

- Don't worry, Brock.

I thought you might not
have one,

so I went ahead
and raised a Nidorino too.

- Come on out, Nidorino.

- Nido, Nido-Nido.

- Nida, Nida!
- Nido.

[Pokémon cooing]

- Aren't they cute?

Isn't it nice to see
love like that?

We could all learn a lesson
from them.

Don't you think so,
Brock?

- Uh, maybe.

[Pokémon exclaiming]

- Oh, what's happening?

- [laughs]

Prepare for trouble.

- And make it double.

- To protect the world
from devastation.

- To unite all peoples
within our nation.

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love.

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.

- James.

- Team Rocket, blast off
at the speed of light.

- Surrender now, or prepare
to fight, fight, fight.

- Meowth, that's right.

Hiyah!

- I should've figured.

- What're you wearing
those costumes for?

- Because we felt like it,
twerp.

- I thought we was getting
jobs at a Mongolian barbecue.

- What do you want?

What're you planning
to do with my Pokémon?

- We're planning
to take them away.

- And as a bonus, we're taking
Pikachu with us too.

- Let's take 'em away.

- Totodile,
I choose you.

- Totodile-dile-dile-dile-
dile-dile-dile.

- Well then, I choose Arbok.

- Sss-Arbok-ok.

- Totodile,
use your Water g*n attack.

- Totodile.

- Sss-Arbok!

[Team Rocket gasps]

- Dile, dile, dile, dile,
dile, dile, dile.

- I have an idea.

Weezing,
use your SmokeScreen.

- Wee.

- This smoke is really thick.

- Pikachu, where are you?

- Pikachu!

- Nidorina, Nidorino!

- Ready?

- Let's haul in the Pokémon.

- [yelps]

- Poliwhirl,
Bubble this SmokeScreen away.

- Poliwhirl.

[Team Rocket cackling]

- Hey, come back here!

Bring back Pikachu!

Huh?

- Pika!

- Oh, Pikachu!

- Oh, all my Pokémon are here,
every single one.

- That's good news.

Team Rocket didn't get away
with anything.

- Togepi.

- [yells]

They got Temacu.

[both gasp]

- Team Rocket took my baby?

- [chuckling]

That was the easiest catch ever.

- I told you it would be
a succe--

Huh?

Hey, my net ripped through!

- Too bad, Jess.

Luckily, my net was nice and--

It seems to be sticking.

[grunts]

- [whimpers]

- Huh?

both: Huh?
- Hey, who's she?

- [both yelp]

- Careful, don't fall.

- Oh, you rescued me.

You're my knight
in shining armor.

- Who, me?

Armor?

- Thank you for saving me.

My name's Temacu.

"Te" like Teddiursa,

"ma" like a Mareep,
and "cu" like a Cubone.

"Temacu."

- That's lovely.

- You haven't told me
what your name is.

- Oh, my name's James.

- "James."
That's nice.

But your name should be
something that suits you better,

Something like Madewvusu.

You have the potential
of a Magikarp.

You're gentle as a Dewgong.

You're cute as a Vulpix,

and you're as hard to catch
as a Sudowoodo.

"Madewvusu."

I like that,

and I like you.

- Eep!
- Imagine that.

James has himself a girlfriend.

- Yeah, uh-huh.

Huh?

- [whimpers]

- Maybe you--

maybe you could be
my new fiancé.

- Fiancé?

- Now where's my darling fiancé?

- [shudders]

Fiancé!

Just the word gives me
the heebie-jeebies.

[shuddering]

- James?

Just imagine how wonderfully
beautifully perfect

our wedding day will be.

I'll be wearing the prettiest
pale-blue wedding gown

to complement your hair.

We'll climb to the top
of a long stairway

where our wedding cake
will await us.

We'll be the cutest couple ever.

I can't wait.

Can you, darling?

- D-Darling?

- That girl means business.

This looks like trouble.

- Maybe, or an opportunity.

- Huh?

- Her father owns
a Pokémon laboratory.

- If James marries her,
the Pokémon

will belong to James someday,

and what belongs to James
belongs to us.

So if we get James to marry her,

we get the Pokémon
as a wedding present.

- Good thinking.

- Well, we've got
a lot of planning to do

if there's going to be
a wedding.

- Oh, yes, I know.

- Don't you realize that
I belong to Team Rocket?

- Oh, that's fine.

I'll root for you at every game.

- Listen, Team Rocket
is a secret organization

dedicated to evil.

- That's fine.

Every husband
should have a hobby.

- [laughs]

What a girl.

I'm delighted you're joining
our little family.

- Me too.

- Well, I'm not.

- Oh, just play along with it.

Once we get inside
the laboratory,

we can grab all the Pokémon

and you can say good-bye
to her forever.

- Okay.

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Mareep!

- My poor baby.

Where could they have taken her?

- Don't you worry.

We'll bring your daughter back,
sir.

We'll have the whole town out
looking for her.

- We'll search the whole city.

- We'll do whatever we have to
to find her.

- I'm very grateful to you all.

- Don't just stand there.

Go look for her.

- Yeah, good idea.

[all calling for Temacu]

- [trills]

- Noctowl, go look
for Team Rocket's balloon.

- [trilling]

- Temacu!

- Temacu!

Hello?

- [trilling]

- Temacu!

- [trills]

- Oh!

- [trills]

- Noctowl,
did you find Team Rocket?

- [trills]

- Come on.

- Pika.

- Oh, Temacu,
where can you be?

Where can you be?

I don't want visitors now.

- Hi, Daddy,
I'm back home.

- Oh, Temacu,
I can't believe it's you.

And who are these nice people?

- Daddy,
I want you to meet James.

- Yes,
he's your daughter's new fiancé.

- Fiancé?

- I'm maid of honor.

- But how did this all happen?

- It was just like
a romance novel.

We were minding our own business
when we heard the cry

of a beautiful young
damsel in distress.

When we ran to see
what was the matter,

we saw that horrible Team Rocket

had kidnapped
your poor daughter.

- Instantly,
James sprung into action.

He knocked Team Rocket around

like they were made
of cardboard.

Your daughter was saved.

Then they met.

It was perfect, beautiful,

like something someone
with an overactive imagination

would dream up
in her unfulfilled fantasies.

- That's a wonderful story,
Jessie.

You two must be very happy.

- We are.

- Uh.

- And where'd that Meowth
come from?

- Team Rocket abandoned
this poor ignorant Pokémon

so we took pity on it.

- How kind.

There aren't many people
like you.

- Oh, you don't know
how right you are.

[laughs]

- Noctowl, take 'em down!

- [trilling]

[balloon crashes]

[all gasp]
- Pika!

- That's not Team Rocket.

- They could've taken her
anywhere by now.

- Hey there.

One of the guys just heard
that Temacu's back home

with her father.

[Trainers gasp]

- And she's got a fiancé.

- A fiancé?

- That didn't take her
very long.

both: Huh?

- All the Pokémon

conveniently packed
in their Pokéballs.

- A little wedding gift for us,
huh?

[both chuckle evilly]

- That was easy.

- It sure was.

[both gasp]

- I've been looking for you two.

- Uh--

- My daughter's made
a special dinner.

She's waiting.

- Oh, goody.

Oh, goody!

- Make that double.

- Let's dig in.

[both munching]

both: h*-h*!

- Imagine how happy we'd be
if we ate like this every day?

- That'd be peachy.

- You're welcome to come
and eat here anytime.

We'll be like
one big happy family.

- Mmm.

Boy, I sure could
get used to this.

- Wobbuffet.

- I'll never get used to that.

- Hmm?

Shouldn't we be
getting ready to go?

- It'd be rude to leave before
finishing all the food she made.

- Oh!
- Can I get you anything else?

- Seconds, please.

- What's going on?

[Team Rocket cringes]

- Oh, hi, guys.

I'd like to introduce you
my darling fiancé

and my beautiful maid of honor.

- Oh, it's a pleasure.

- Ah, Temacu.

- The two of you
look very familiar to me.

Hmm.

Mm-hmm.

Let's see now.

- [yelps]

- See?

I knew you were Team Rocket.

- This is Team Rocket?

[Team Rocket groans]

- [groans]

I've lost Temacu.

- Brock, I thought
you didn't like her.

- I know, but if
she's good enough for James,

maybe she's good enough for me.

- Oh.

You've done some low things,
but this is the lowest,

tricking an innocent girl
into getting engaged.

- It wasn't me.

It was her.

- James,
the wedding party's over.

Let's get going.
Oh!

- Oh, Team Rocket's trying
to steal all my Pokéballs.

- Thanks for dinner.

all: Thanks for the memories.

- Hey, give back
those Pokéballs.

- Something's wrong.

There must be
a misunderstanding.

- Chikorita, I choose you.

- Chiko!

- Come out, Poliwhirl.

I choose you.

- Poli.

- Quick, Weezing,
use your SmokeScreen.

- Weezing, Wee.

- We won't fall for that trick
again.

Poliwhirl, use your Bubble.

- Poliwhirl.

- Wee.

- Get that Chikorita.

- Sss-Arbok-ok.

- Chikorita, use Tackle Attack.

- Chiko!

- Sss-Ar!

- [grunts]

- Chikorita, stop Weezing
with your Razor Leaf.

- Chiko!

- Weezing.

- Weezing, fight!

- Don't worry.

I'll fight them too, James.

Nidorina,
Tackle attack!

- Nida!

- Whirl.

- Hey, don't fight us.

We're trying to save you.

Poliwhirl, use your Water g*n
attack on James.

- Poliwhirl.

- Weezing.

- [yells]

- Look out.

[screams]

[all gasp]

- Temacu!

- [groans]

- Temacu, are you okay?

- Now we're in trouble.

- Now you're gonna pay
for what you did.

Chikorita, use your Vine Whip.

- Chiko!

- Sss-Ar!
- Wee!

[both groan]

[Team Rocket yelps]

- Poliwhirl, Water g*n.

- Pikachu,
use your Thunderbolt attack.

- Pika!
- Poliwhirl.

- Pikachu!

- Oh!

- They prepared for trouble
and made ours double.

- At least I'm still single.

both: Team Rocket's blasting off
again!

- I know why this happened.

My daughter and I recently
attended my niece's wedding.

Temacu was so excited
and impressed by it

that all she's been able
to think or talk about

is weddings and getting married.

- So that's what it was.

- I love her.
- Huh?

- You love her?

- At first I was too shocked
and surprised

to understand how
I felt about her,

but now I've decided to accept
the love and affection

your daughter
has offered me.

- Oh, oh!

- I'm glad to see you're awake.

I was worried about you.

- Yeah, me too.

- Doctor.

Doctor,
I know that we just met,

but I strongly believe
in love at first sight.

both: Huh?

- I can see it now,
me in a golden gown

and you at my side.

- Temacu, my darling,

I know this is sudden,
but will you marry me?

- Yes, Doctor.

- [yells]

I can't believe she's gone.

- Brock, even a Pokémon Breeder
can't compete with a doctor.

- Thanks again, kids.

- Take care, guys.

- You too, Temacu.

- Thanks for everything.

- Bye-bye.

- [groans]

- Cheer up.

She wasn't for you.

- You'll find another girl
someplace.

- Pikachu.

- Togepi.

- You're right.

I bet there're girls
in the next town

who would love to meet
an eligible bachelor like me.

Look out, girls!
Here I come!

- Brock!
- Hey, wait for us!

- Brock may've lost his love
today,

but he'll find more love
along the way.

In the meantime,
the journey to Johto rolls on.

- Let's do it.
