05x09 - Plant It Now... Diglett Later

Post by bunniefuu »

male narrator: And so
with the Whirl Cup competition

behind them, our heroes
finally say good-bye

to Scarlet City, reflecting
on the new friendships

they have made and the battles
they have fought.

Their time
spent on Red Rock Isle

was a valuable one.

Their journey now continues
as Ash, Brock and Misty

head north to Transit Town
in hopes of catching a ferry

that will take them back
to Olivine City.

Although Ash and Misty were
unable to capture first prize,

the experience
our two young trainers gained

will help them
in future battles.

There is, however, one battle

that Ash is hungering to win
right away.

[stomach rumbles]

- I need food.

- Me too.

We're almost
to Transit Town.

- Almost?
Be more specific.

- Yeah, Brock,
how close is "almost"?

- Pika.

- Oh, this is just
too much fun.

They're all tuckered out.

Perfect timing.

Shake it with those shovels.

The twerps are nearly here.
Aren't you done?

- You know, Jessie,

anytime you'd like to help out,
just say the word.

- Yeah, we got plenty of room
down here for the three of us.

- Ah, nothing like digging
a good pitfall.

- It'll be nice for them
to drop in.

- Here they come.

- [groaning]

- [snickers]

[stomach rumbles]

- All right.
Who's stomach was that?

- Not mine.
Was it you, Meowth?

- It was mine.

all: Ah!

[all scream]

- What's a big hole doing
in the middle of this field?

- It could only be...

- Team Rocket.

- Well, that was easy.

- It happened so quickly,
I barely had time to prepare.

- I've never been
more proud.

- They're caught.
We win.

- I propose a toast.

[together] Here's to us.
Now let's go eat.

Yum, yum.

[all scream]

- I guess we'll need
a rain check.

- What's going on here?

- Well, I know
this is the hole we dug,

'cause here's my mark.

It's a thing of beauty,
don't you think?

- Meowth, it's a thing of pity,
if you're asking me.

- How many of these pitfalls
do you think we dug so far?

- Who knows?
- They're everywhere.

- Yes, exactly, and thousands
of years from now,

people will discover these holes
and find my mark.

I'll be the object of everyone's
love and affection,

and they'll be calling
this whole country Meowthland.

[together] Dream on.

- I don't get it.

If Team Rocket
dug the hole they're in,

then who could have dug
this one?

- Did you and Meowth
possibly dig two holes?

- Don't be ridiculous,
Jessie.

- Uh...

- Huh?

- Diglett.

[together] Diglett!
- Pika!

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question
my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I've got a chance to win

I'm on my way to victory

- Pokémon!

- I can be a Champion

If I just believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

I'm gonna be the very best

'Cause all I've got to do

is believe in me

- Pokémon

- Did they say Diglett?

- I think so.

- Whoa.

- It's a Diglett ladder.

- I'm sorry.

We're the ones
who dug this giant hole.

- So many people were just
coming through our home

that we had to.

- There's no need
for explanation.

Beauty such as yours
needs to be protected.

Hi, my name is Brock.

What's yours?

- Uh, I'm Rita.

That's Sue.

- Huh?
- That's right.

Hi, Brock.

- Wow!
Double wow!

- The Diglett had nothing to do
with digging this hole,

but sorry anyway.

- You said that people were
coming through your home.

What did you mean by that?

- I'll be happy to explain,

but first, I need to ask you
a favor.

- Just name it.

- You seem to be
expert Pokémon trainers.

- Uh, expert?

- Actually, I'm a breeder.

But as far as breeders go,
hmm, yes, an expert.

- I guess.

"Expert" is kind of strong,

but we did battle
for the Whirl Cup.

- Pika!

- And I would say
the long hours of training

I put in with my Corsola
gave me the edge.

- Togepi.

- Right now, we really need
your dedication and expertise.

- We didn't know
what we were going to do

until you came along.

- We'll even have a banquet
in your honor.

- A banquet?

[stomachs rumble]

[together] We'll do it!
both: Hooray!

Then let's be on our way.

- Diglett, Diglett, Diglett.

- This is the village
we were telling you about.

[all gasping]

And here's the banquet
that we promised you.

- Well, I guess it's time
to dig in.

- Yum, looks good.

- Aren't you forgetting
something?

- Hmm, what do you mean?

- Dining with the enemy.

- Yeah, we'll be feasting
with our foes.

- Right.
And just look at them.

all: Hmm.

- Pika!

- Well, twerps or no twerps,

it's a shame to let all this
food go to waste.

- We could ignore them.

- Who deserves this grub more,

the illustrious Team Rocket
or them?

- That settles it.
- Huh?

- This is yummy.

Please pass the salt.
I haven't had this in ages.

Oh, look,
they're eating it all.

- No, they're not.

[all groaning]

- I'm stuffed.

- Pika.

- Is there anything else
I can get you all?

- A stretcher
and someone to carry me.

- Would a simple antacid
be too much trouble?

- No, I'll go get one
for you.

- Wait.
You're not leaving, are you?

- It's getting late,
and we need to get home.

But don't you worry.

The mayor will take over
from here.

- Ah, yes, we are most pleased
that you've joined us.

- Welcome, and thank you so much
for being here.

- They're all so old.

- Who are those men?

[together] We present the mayor
and the town council.

- Thank you, Sue and Rita.

[together] You're welcome.
Our pleasure.

- You two are most helpful.

We appreciate it.

- Yes, now the rest of you
with your full stomachs,

we would like to ask
one simple favor

after feeding you so well.

[together] After that meal
we fed you,

how could you possibly say no?

- Of course we want to help.
Just tell us what we can do.

- We need a rocket.

- A rocket?

- Then prepare for trouble.

- And then make it double.

- To protect the world
from devastation.

- To unite all peoples
within our nation.

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love.

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.
- James.

- Team Rocket blast off
at the speed of light.

- Surrender now, or prepare
to fight, fight, fight.

- Meowth, that's right.

- Not a rocket.
all: Good-bye.

[all scream]

- No, we don't need
a rocket.

- True, we have no desire here
to fly into space.

- Well, what then?

- I must not
be making myself clear.

I know.
Yes.

Racquet.

- Right.
A tennis match.

- No, not that.

- A biscuit?

- It's too late
for a snack right now,

and I fear that we're leading
our friends

down another confusing path.

- You're right.

- Robot? Roper?

- This isn't a rodeo.
- Oh, that's enough!

You all need serious help.

- You said "help."

Help. That's it.

A helper.

- Ah.
Is that it?

- Yes.
Brilliant.

We need a helper.

- And you are perfect
for the job.

- We are?

- Help with what?

- Hold on.
- Huh?

- Don't listen
to those old fools.

They'll just talk you
in circles

until you're as confused
as they are.

- Who are you?

- We're a band
of Diglett thieves

known as the Band
of Diglett Thieves.

- Now there's
an original name.

- We used to be known
by a much more creative name,

but those old fogies in there
just kept getting confused.

- That makes sense.

- See those Diglett there
at your feet?

After they've evolved
into Dugtrio,

they become the world's
greatest earth movers.

So we pay those old codgers
a little visit once a year

to steal them for ourselves.

- Diglett.
- Pika! Pika! Pika!

- This year's crop of Diglett
seem plump and healthy.

We'll be back for them
tomorrow.

Farewell.

- Thieves that book
in advance?

- That's very considerate.

- Togepi.

- For many years we have
coexisted happily

with the many Diglett
in our area,

as they helped us
to cultivate our fields.

- We'd like to continue to raise
our crops and stay in our homes.

- But it's been hard now
that our children

have left our village
for the bright lights

and excitement of the city.

- The only young ones
we ever see are Sue and Rita,

and the Band
of Diglett Thieves.

- We dearly love Sue and Rita,

but those thieves
are a big problem.

By stealing
all of our strongest

and healthiest Diglett
every year,

we are not able to grow
enough food for our village.

- How were you able to make
that giant feast for us?

- That one might possibly
be our last.

- If you won't help us,

we have no other choice

but to consider you
thankless and insensitive.

- I'm sorry, did he just say
thankless and insensitive?

I have never heard anything
so insulting in all of my life.

- Really, James?

I heard that one
a million times.

- Not true.

We may have
our selfish moments,

but I'd like to think we would
never ignore someone in need

who had just given us
a banquet.

- But sometimes we like
to eat and run.

- Quiet.

- This red rose
symbolizes the red blood

that runs through
all of us.

It knows not
of good or evil.

It is true I am a member
of Team Rocket,

but I am also
a Pokémon trainer

with a burning desire
to help my fellow man.

I will rise to the call
of the rose within my heart

and do whatever
is needed of me.

Or at least give it
my best shot.

- Do you mean it?

You're actually going to help
some old people

just because they fed you?

- Exactamundo.

- Oh, that's great.
Thank you.

- And I vow
to protect you all

from those thieves.

- I'll help too.
- So will I.

- Pika!

- Are you with me?

- You know I am.

- All right.

- [groans]

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Sandshrew.

- This is
our present location.

And here is our enemy.

The Band of Diglett Thieves
numbers more than ,

while at last count, our ranks
consist of senior citizens,

three members of Team Rocket,

and three twerps,
for a total of .

- It seems obvious
that we shouldn't try

and face them directly.

We're so outnumbered
we don't stand a chance.

- Check.

And that is why tonight,
we must put aside

our differences and commence

with Operation
No-No Dodrio.

- That sounds dangerous.

- It is, but only for that trio
of three brave souls

who have been randomly selected
for this mission.

It's you three
and the Diglett.

And we thank you very much
for your courage.

- Yes, sir.

- When was it that the twerps
were chosen for this mission?

- It was when the mission
became scary.

Anyway, you'll sneak up
and release

the enemy's main mode
of transport: Dodrio.

- Yes, sir.

- I feel bad for those Dodrio,

but it looks like we may have
no other choice, sir.

- Correct,
we have no other choice

if we all wish to see
the light of another day.

all: Good luck.

- I hate to say it
but I almost feel bad

about sending the twerps
while we relax.

- No relaxing.

We'll be busy
digging pitfall after pitfall

around the town's
perimeter.

We will enlist every single
Diglett in this village

and create an impenetrable
pitfall defense.

- Wow, for a group
of old duffers,

they've really got
lots of energy.

- Ah, those young'uns
are in their prime.

I'm .

- No!
That's times my age.

- Now where did you learn
that math?

- Oh, get back in the hole.

- The twerpy troops.

Gee, I wonder how they are.

- Pika.

[together] Ah!

- Hmm?

- That guy must be
their ringleader.

- Yeah, and I bet you
he's standing guard

over the Dodrio pen.

- Pika? Pika!

- Hey, what is it, Pikachu?

Huh?

Hey, it's Sue.

- Where?

- Wow, what's she doing
with these guys?

- Beats me.
- Weird.

- Hey, you guys.
- Huh?

- What are you doing?

- It's Rita.

- Who goes there?

- Pika.

- Hold it!

- Huh?

- Oh, Mr. Mayor,

these are the helpers,
from before.

- Oh, I see.

Sorry.

It's so hard to see with that
darn helmet on my head.

- You're the mayor?

- Togepi.

- Diglett.
- Diglett.

- Diglett.

- [laughs]

- Oh, yes, I see.

Terribly sorry
to have startled you.

Okay, guys,
this time we'll do it

without the Dodrio,
all right?

[together] All right!

- This is really weird.

- Let me see
if I have this straight:

all of you are actually the
children of those old people?

- And grandkids.

- Then why would you steal
their Diglett?

- It's simple.

- Well, tell us.
- There was a time

when all of this land
was nothing but a wasteland

inhabited by a great
many Diglett.

Because of the difficult lives
our parents were forced to lead,

they befriended the Diglett

in order to get help
cultivating their fields.

And in time,
their labors were rewarded.

Their fields overflowed
with a bountiful harvest,

and stories of their success
were told all over

the Whirl Islands.

Once Diglett
evolve into Dugtrio,

they can even change the desert
from brown to green.

It's thanks to their work
that this has become

such a beautiful place.

Now to show gratitude
to our mothers and fathers,

we built them
a retirement home

where they could live
in comfort and peace.

It has every possible luxury
and amenity

that they could ever want
or need.

It compares with any
four-star hotel in the world.

- Wow.
I'd love to stay there.

- Oh, well.

Those old men and women
wouldn't have any of it.

- Huh?
I wonder why.

- They said they would rather
live the rest of their lives

continuing to work together
with those Diglett,

as they plowed the land
and protected their village.

- Amazing.

- It seems long ago,
there were many Diglett thieves

who had caused them
all sorts of problems.

They were constantly on guard

and working to keep
those thieves away.

They think that defense
is the key to their longevity.

- So now you're the thieves?

- Yes, the Diglett thieves
disappeared

quite a long time ago,

so we just decided to take over
invading the village

every once in a while
to help keep those old folks

in tip-top shape.

We're very careful, of course,
that no one is ever hurt.

- I wish you would have told us
about this a little sooner.

- But think of how our
grandparents would feel

if they knew.

- This has become
a way of life for them:

protecting their homes
and defending their land.

- I think I get it.
- Pika.

- But it will only work
if they believe it.

Your Pikachu should give it
everything it's got.

We have made very sure
that no one will get hurt.

- But you know Pikachu's
Thunderbolt attack

is really strong.

- Let's try.

- Are you sure?

- Give me your best shot.

- Uh...
- Pika?

- Do it.

- Okay then.
Pikachu, Thunderbolt!

- Pikachu!

- Ah, you see?

Shockproof.

And it's blast-proof, so don't
you worry about a thing.

- Great.
- We'll do our best.

- Pikachu.

- Hmm.

Ooh.

They're not riding
on Dodrio.

Our battle plan worked.

- Those twerps pulled it off.

- All right.
Prepare for battle.

[all scream]

- Whoa!

- Yes, the traps
are working like a charm.

- All right, Arbok,
let's go.

- Wobbu!

- Huh?

- Look.
The twerpy troops.

- Awesome, it's working.

- This is great.

Let's get in the act too.

Cyndaquil, I choose you.

- Cyndaquil.

Quil.

- Poliwhirl, Water g*n.

[all cheering]

- Go, Crobat!
Supersonic.

- Ah, hear that?

- I always loved
that sound.

- I feel great.

- Yahoo-ey!

[together] Now that's a sound
we love!

- What?
Old bats?

- Huh.

A white flag?

- Though it grieves me
to say it, we surrender.

But make no mistake,
we will be back.

And next time, we will capture
all your village's Diglett.

Mark my words!

- Ah.

Give a hug to Gramps
and Grandma, would you?

- Farewell.

- Hold your horsey.
- Huh?

- You're not going anywhere.

- We got to make sure
you creeps

never bother those nice
old folks again.

both: Let's go.

- Aah!

- Hey, wait a minute!
Stop!

- Cool it, Ash.

Be careful,
or you'll ruin the whole thing.

- I know you're right, Misty,
but I got to do something.

- Don't worry, Ash.
We can take care of ourselves.

- Yeah, but...

- What about the Diglett?

- They're in trouble.

- Well, here goes nothing.

Hey, Team Rocket.

- Huh?
- Who said that?

- The twerp?

- What's he staring at?

- [laughs nervously]

Uh, sorry.

Pikachu, Thunderbolt!

- Pikachu!

- What?

[all screaming]

- Even when we're good,
it turns out bad.

[together] Looks like Team
Rocket's blasting off again!

ting!

- I feel sorry for those
three Cream Pockets.

- I'm sure they'd appreciate
the nickname.

- Guess they dug a hole...

- They couldn't climb out of.

- In this world,
all sorts of crazy things happen

all of the time.

We never would have dreamed
that those three

could have actually shown
some real compassion

for our situation,
but they did,

and we're forever grateful

and, of course,
to you three as well.

On behalf of our village,

we thank you from the bottom
of our hearts.

- So please accept this small
token of our appreciation

for all that you have done.

- Oh!

- A Silver Wing.

- It looks as though we were
able to give you something

that you truly like.

This badge is actually made
on Silver Rock Isle,

one of the Whirl Islands.

You should go there
and see for yourselves.

- How do we get there?

- There's a ferry
in Transit Town

that can take you there
directly.

- What do you say, guys?

It might be a clue to finding
that mysterious Pokémon.

- Mm-hmm.

male narrator:
And now our heroes

are just one boat ride away from
the secrets of the Silver Wing,

but will this also lead them
to the mysterious Pokémon

they've long sought after?

Time will surely tell.

[singing]
- There's no time

To question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

'Cause all I've got to do
