- Hello, mayor.

How come everyone
is acting like chickens?

- Because today is
spring chicken day.

It's the day
when the spring chicken comes

And announces
the arrival of spring.

How are the flowers
coming along, fellas?

- Almost done, mayor.

- Those don't look
like flowers.

- Oh, they're not flowers yet,

But they will be soon.

- Would you like one,
oona?

- Yes, please.

Thank you.

- You're welcome.

- Now, if you water that
and give it plenty of sunshine,

It will bloom
into a pretty spring flower.

- Really?

But if I water it and give it

a beautiful spring flower.

- Spring is
my favorite season.

- What's a season?

- Seasons are
different times of the year.

Spring is the time of year
that comes after winter.

Like summer, winter, and fall.

- When it starts
to get warm,

And I don't have to wear
my hat or my jacket,

that captures spring.

Now, stand back, child,
and I'll do my thing

- Hmm.

I think there's something wrong
with this picture of spring.

- Really?

- Mm-hmm.

It doesn't look
like the perfect spring day.

Let's help mother nature out.

What doesn't belong
in this picture of spring?

- The snowman.

- The snow.

- Right.

Snow belongs in winter,
not spring.

- Of course.

Let's try that again.

and I gave you snow.

I'll make it right.

I'm all dressed for spring.

- Gilly, that's not

Gil is all bundled up
for winter,

When there's snow outside.

And that's a frog.

- I'm a butterfly.

Do the spring chicken dance

I'm waiting
for my flower to bloom.

Go ahead, little plant.

You can bloom now.

- Is it broken?

- I don't know.

I gave it water, but it hasn't
bloomed into a flower.

- Maybe it needs more time.

Flowers need
a little time to grow,

And they need
some other things too.

- Like what?

- Let's think about
what flowers need to grow.

- Flowers need lots of water.

- Mm-hmm, when flowers
are outside,

They get their water from the...

- Rain.

- That's right.

Flowers drink rainwater
through their roots,

Which grow in the ground.

And they also needs lots of...

- Sun.

The sun gives the flower
energy to grow.

- Flowers love sunshine.

- Hey, all you chickens,

Bubble guppies!

- Once upon a time,

There were two happy bugs.

Both: we're happy bugs.

- They were happy because
they loved to fly their kite.

- Spring is great
for flying kites.

- Because it's really windy.

Both: whee!

- But there was one thing
the bugs had to watch out for:

Ms. Butterfly's
flower garden.

- Look out, bug!

- Whoa!

- That was a close one.

We'd better not mess up
miss butterfly's garden.

- Yeah, she gets really mad

If anyone steps
on her flowers.

- You got that right!

Both: hi, miss butterfly.

- Hello, bugs.

You better not mess up
my spring flower garden.

Both: yes, miss butterfly.

- Why don't you go fly that kite
somewhere else, now?

Both: bye, miss butterfly.

- So the two bugs went
to fly their kite

Over by the frog pond.

- I'm a frog, all right.

Both: whee!

- Hi.

Both: hi, frog.

- That sure looks like fun.

- Would you like to try it?

- Why, sure, I would.

- Here you go.

- Whee!

[Laughs]

- It's windy.

- Hold on tight,
so it doesn't get away.

- Whee.

[Laughs]

Oh, no!

I'll get it.

- Don't mess up miss butterfly's
flower garden!

- Oh, no!

[Loud bump]

I got it.

- You messed up
miss butterfly's flower garden.

- Oh, no.

She's gonna be so mad.

- We have to fix it before
miss butterfly gets back.

- So the bugs decided
to replant the flowers.

- We did it!

- But the flowerbeds
are missing some flowers.

We need to figure out
what flowers are missing...

- And then put the right flowers
where they belong.

- We need your help.

We need to choose the right
flower to plant in this hole.

- The pattern is:
red, yellow,

Red, yellow,

Red...

What comes next?

- Yellow.

- That's right,
the yellow flower.

Now we only have to plant
one more over here.

- Okay, we need a flower
to go here.

- We need your help.

The pattern is:
orange, orange, purple,

Orange, orange, purple.

But here,
one flower's missing.

Orange, orange, purple,

Orange...
What comes next?

- Orange.

- That's right.

Let's plant another
orange flower right there.

- We did it.

- Just in time.

- Hello, bugs.

Frog.

[Together]
hi, miss butterfly.

- Miss butterfly,

Our kite got away,

And we accidentally messed up
your garden a little.

- It was me.

- You what?

Looks fine to me.

- We fixed it.

- Thanks for putting
my flower garden back together.

Now let's fly that kite.

All: whee!

[Laughter]

Whee!

- And so the bugs
flew their kite

The rest
of the beautiful spring day,

And they lived happily
ever after.

Fish: hooray.
Yay!

- Spring is the best time
of year to fly a kite

Because it's so windy,

And it rains a lot too,

Which helps the flowers grow.

- Hi, molly.

- Hi.
What are you doing?

- I'm going to let oona's plant
get some rain,

So it will grow
into a flower.

- Flowers love rain.

- Stand back.

You don't want to get
rained on.

Help me make it rain.

When I count to three,
say "rain."

[Thunder booms]

[Laughter]

- [Giggles]

[Lively music playing]

- Hey, listen.

- That's the spring chicken
song.

- The spring chicken
is coming.

- Come on.



- Wow.
This is exciting.

- Come on, little plant.

You have to be a flower

Before the spring chicken
gets here.

- Where is
the spring chicken?



[Cheers and applause]

- Ladies and gentlemen,
boys and girls,

Welcome
to spring chicken day!

- Hooray!

- Yay!

- Is it a flower yet?

- Not yet.

- And now, to announce
the arrival of spring,

Here she comes:

The spring chicken!

[Trumpet fanfare]

- The spring chicken is here.

[Helicopter rotors whirring]

- Bawk!

[Crowd cheering]

- Come on, oona.

- Okay.

The spring chicken
has just informed me

That to make sure
it's spring,

She would like to see
a flower.

- If the spring chicken
doesn't see a flower,

It won't be spring.

[All gasp]

- Oh, no!

- Then it won't get warm
outside.

- We won't be able
to play in the grass...

- Or fly kites.

- We need a flower.

- Help us find a flower.
