- Let's put the red and white flag over there, Mario.

- Okay.

Canada's flag goes here.

- The Mexican flag can go there, Whitney.

(peaceful music)

- Put the blue one next to it.

- Good idea, Jackson.

This is Australia's flag.

- These flags are so pretty together.

- They'll really look cool out in the park,

waving in the wind.

- They sure will. - They will!

Here come the flags!

- Oh, boy. - These are gonna look

so good in the park.

- Pretty cool, huh, Barney?

(magical music) - Whoa!

- [Children] Barney!

- Oh, hi, everybody.

Whatcha doin'?

- We're hanging flags from all around the world.

- I see that,

and now they're all around me!

- [Kami] Oh, Barney.

We'll untangle you. - Okay.

(light music)

Got all of them?

Okay.

Why do you have all these flags?

- They're decorations for tonight's international fair.

- Oh, an international fair!

Do you mean we'll be seeing things

from different countries?

- Yep.

There'll be lots of booths all over the park.

- Each booth has clothes and toys

and music from a different country.

- And maybe food too?

(Jackson gasps)

Pizza, perhaps?

- [Children] Ooh, yeah!

- Oh, maybe pumpernickel bread.


Let's go! - Come on, let's go see.

- [Barney] Okay.

I can't wait.

(happy music)

Oh, I can't wait.

- [Jackson] What are all these signs for?

- They point to the different booths in the fair.

See, in this part of the park, there's Kenya,

Brazil, Germany,

Italy and South Korea.

- Today, it looks like a little bit

of each country is right here.

(magical music)

(children talking)

Oh, look at all the decorated booths.

Which one should we visit first?

- Hmm. - Let's go see

the Kenya booth.

(upbeat music)

- Okay, that's a great idea.

(children talking)

- Barney?

I thought you were behind us.

(speaking in foreign language)

- What did you just say?

- I said, "Hello, welcome to Kenya" in Swahili.

Like some of my friends in Kenya do.

- Where is Kenya, Barney?

- Kenya is a country in Africa,

and there are lots of things you'll like about it.

- Look at this drum!

(upbeat drum music)

- Oh, nothing beats a drum.

- What's this, Barney?

- Oh, that's a kalimba.

(plinking music)

(ball rattling)

- I like the sound of this.

What is it, Barney?

- Oh, that's a shakera.

It's made from a gourd,

and it's covered with tiny shells.

Oh, and that's a tic toc drum, Kami.

Twist your wrist back and forth.

(drum beats)

There you go.

- Cool!

- What's really cool are all the animals in Kenya.

Look!

Lions, giraffes and elephants.

- Hey neat! - Wow!

- And here are some clothes that people often wear

when they go on a safari in Kenya.

- Wouldn't it be fun to go on a safari?

- That would be so much fun! - That would be so good.

- Well, we could go on a camera safari

and take pictures of all the animals.

- Oh, yeah! - We could?

- Whoa.

(magical music)

- [Children] Wow!

- Oh, boy.

(lively music)

♪ We're going on a camera safari ♪

♪ To see what we can see

♪ There's a lion and a leopard

♪ And a great big monkey

♪ Swinging on the branch of a tree ♪

♪ It looks like a chimpanzee

♪ Oh here on safari, you can hear the lions roar ♪

♪ Rrr-rhinoceros and zebras and so much more ♪

♪ Hear the snakes hissing in the grass below ♪

♪ Sss-see the silly monkeys putting on a show ♪

♪ We're going on a camera safari to see what we can see ♪

♪ Getting clean as he can be

- I like Kenya.

They have elephants and drums,

and I guess they play soccer too.

- (chuckles) In some countries it's called

a soccer ball, Jackson,

but in Kenya and many other countries,

this is called a football.

(gentle music)

- Can I play with it for a while, Barney?

I'll bring it back.

- Well, sure.

- Thanks, Barney.

- Well, we've gone on safari in Kenya.

I wonder what we'll see in Brazil.

- Let's find out.

- Okay. - Let's go!

- Huh? - What?

- I thought you were.

- How did you get here so fast?

- Well, I couldn't wait to say,

"Hello, welcome to Brazil" in Portuguese.

That's the language people speak in Brazil.

Oh, come on in.

- [Children] Okay.

- I like your mask, Barney.

- Well, thank you.

In Brazil, people wear fancy costumes and masks

like this every year for a special holiday called Carnival.

They sing and dance in parades.

Oh, and there are more carnival masks

here in the booth.

Try one on.

- Okay. - Okay.

- I like this one. - Funny, funny.

Now, we're ready for Carnival.

Turn this on.

(upbeat dance music)

- I like this music, Barney.

- Oh, me too, and I always like to dance.

(Barney humming)

- That was great. - I like that.

- Oh, you're terrific Carnival dancers.

- [Mario] Whoa, look at this picture!

- [Barney] Brazil also has jungles

with lots of birds and animals.

- Oh, so cool! - Wow, that's awesome.

- [Mario] That's neat.

- Hey, Barney. - Hmm?

- Who's this guy?

- Oh, he's a gaucho.

That's what they call cowboys in Brazil.

Gauchos wear hats like these.

- Oh, wow! - Here, try one on.

- Okay. - Here you go, Whitney.

- For you Kami. - Thanks.

- [Barney] You're welcome.

- Here. - Thanks.

- [Kami] You're welcome.

- Yee ha!

We're gauchos from Brazil.

- Oh, yes you are.

♪ As I was out walking one morning for pleasure ♪

♪ I saw a young gaucho come riding along ♪

♪ His hat was thrown back

♪ And his spurs were a-jinglin' ♪

♪ And as he approached, he was singing this song ♪

- I like Brazil.

Carnivals, jungles and cowboys all in one country!

- [Barney] Right.

- Hi, guys.

- Oh, hi. - Hi, Jackson.

- Why are you wearing those hats?

- We're pretending to be cowboys from Brazil.

They wear hats like this.

- Cool.

Can I wear this for a while, Barney?

- Well, I think that would be all right.

- Hey, another soccer ball!

(light music)

I mean football.

- Yup, they play it in Brazil too.

- Can I borrow it?

- Sure, Jackson.

- Thanks again, Barney.

I promise I'll bring it back.

- [Barney] Okay.

- Bye, Jackson. - See ya later.

- Hey, where did Barney go?

- I don't know. - He was just here!

- I know.

(tuba music)

- Sounds like someone's playing the tuba.

- [Mario] Yeah.

- Let's go see!

- Okay. - Good idea!

- [Kami] I mean, I wonder who it could be.

(magical music)

(tuba oompah music)


- Barney! - Oh look, it's Barney!

- Good job! - Good job, Barney.

(speaking in foreign language)

- Did you just say hello and welcome again?

- Oh, yes, in German.

- Was that a German song you were playing

on the tuba, Barney?

- Uh huh.

I like the way a tuba sounds. - Oh, me too.

♪ Oompah oompah oompah

(Barney chuckles)

- Looks like the people in Germany like football too.

- Yep.

In Germany, it's called foosball, which means football.

(light music)

- Do people in Germany really dress like this, Barney?

- (chuckles) Not everyone.

Sometimes people dress that way

for a festival called Oktoberfest.

That is a dirndl dress.

And these leather shorts are called lederhosen.

Sometimes people wear these

in a part of Germany called Bavaria.

- Are these hot dogs?

- They are hot dogs.

But in Germany they're called frankfurters.

Oh, and there's another one

of my favorite snacks from Germany!

- [Children] Pretzels!

- Oh, and of course, here's my very,

very favorite bread, pumpernickel!

- [Children] Pumpernickel?

- My favorite is pita bread.

- I like bagels.

- I like tortillas.

- Oh, there are many delicious breads

from all over the world.

(cheerful music)

Are you used speaking Italian, Barney?

- That's right.

Welcome to Italy,

the home of some of our favorite foods.

- Like spaghetti?

- Uh huh.

- And ravioli?

- Oh, yes.

- And lasagna?

- Oh, yummy yum.

And, of course

(fanfare music)

- [Children] Pizza!

- That's right.

(lively music)

♪ Pour out the sauce

♪ Sprinkle the cheese

♪ Now cover the top with anything you please ♪

♪ It's my tummy's favorite

- Wow, here's a picture of a city in Italy!

It has lots of big buildings.

(light music)

- The buildings look old in this picture.

- Italy has new buildings

and some that were built long, long ago.

- This kind of looks like a guitar, Barney.

What is it?

- [Barney] It's a mandolin.

They were first played in Italy.

(simple string music)

- That's pretty.

- I know something else about Italy.

- [Barney] Mm?

- They like soccer.

I mean football.

- Oh, I think people everywhere like football,

or soccer, whatever you want to call it.

- This is a cool boat, Barney.

- It's called a gondola, Scott.

They're used in Venice,

a very special city in Italy.

- Why is Venice special, Barney?

- Instead of roads, it has lots of canals

filled with water.

And instead of cars, people use boats to go places.

Oh, Venice is a city where you really

have to row, row, row your boat to get around.

(cheerful music)

- [Barney] Oh, look at that. (chuckles)

- [Children] Wow!

- Wow! - Wow, Barney.

- Welcome to the South Korea booth.

You'll find lots of fun things here.

- Hey, everybody, look, a flute!

(flute music)

- Hey, another drum.

(drum music)

- And a gong.

(gong reverberates)

- These different sounds are all part

of South Korean music.

- This is a pretty tea set, Barney.

- Koreans like to drink tea, Kami.

And they also like to eat lots

of vegetables in something called pibimbap.

- Pibimbap? - Mm hmm.

It's a very tasty meal

made with rice, vegetables and meats.

Oh, and sometimes they use these to eat with.

- [Children] Chopsticks!

- Those are really big.

- Well, well, mine are a little bigger than most.

- I like to eat with chopsticks.

Pinch the food between them like this.

- See? - Oh.

- [Barney] You don't need a fork or spoon.

- Hey!

These kids are practicing tae kwan do.

I take tae kwon do lessons.

- So do I.

- Tae kwon do started in Korea,

and it's a fun way to exercise.

- These are pretty clothes.

- [Kami] Oh, they sure are.

- Korean children wear clothes

like those on special holidays, like Children's Day.

It's one of the biggest celebrations in Korea.

Children and their families play games together all day.

- Wow.

Look, how many soccer balls Jackson found

to play with!

(happy music)

- Oh, my!

Hi there. - Hi, Jackson!

- Hi, everybody.

- Hi. - Oh, hi there, Jackson.

Jackson, here's another soccer ball from South Korea.

- Hey, another football.

Looks like kids everywhere like to play with a ball.

- Yeah. - Yes, it sure does.

We all have to get dressed in the morning

before we go to school.

- And we sit together as a family

when it's dinner time.

- And play with other kids.

- Everybody likes to play pretend too.

- Yeah, I would like to dress up

in a German dirndl dress.

- Or a tae kwon do outfit.

- I'd be a great gaucho.

- Oh, yes, you would.

- (chuckles) Oh, I imagine you could be.
