long time for her to get the hang of it
let's see here we do okay
okay you just keep it there yeah I would
try to stay really
still uh it's hard because it's all

ah he has like a
square I got it did no your

had it I really had it for like 2
seconds you got to have patience to do
this you hold it up I just had it for
like 4 and 1/2 seconds put it on or 2
and 1/2 seconds you have to bring your
back your head really far so that it's
kind of resting on your forehead more
yeah I just I had it until I started
going
ah I got it 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 oh wow good

cheating if I
am what's the most embarrassing thing
that ever happened to you when my chair
was on the desktop and I thought it was
behind me but it wasn't behind behind me
so when I went to go sit down on the
chair I accidentally sat on the floor
and went
boom when I was playing on my little
baseball team it was my first season I
wasn't paying attention I was playing
left uh right field and uh a ball hit me
on the head zoops my most embarrassing
moment was in the petting zoo when I
thought I was petting a turtle and I was
actually petting a rock
[Music]
M welcome to Cafe Zoom today we're going

good everybody
home attention please go
hi my name is Breezy and I'm 12 years
old and I've been coming out to this
Lake for 2 years and I paddle almost
every day of the week and I even come
out here on days like this when it's so
cold what are you waiting for let's go
stretch come on I love being part of a
team my team is the Seattle caman kayak
club we all practice really hard in the
winter so you can be ready for the
racing season in the summer I enjoy
kaying because it's really different and
unique from other sports and I have so
many friends here and it's almost like
my second home it's so cold today I
think my feet are going to freeze off
now we're taking our boat out so we can
go
paddle the boat I'm pading today is a K2
and I'm pading with my best friend Lizzy
the K2 is a kayak that made for two
people and this is a very Tippy boat and
it's really hard to learn in because
it's really Tippy oh my gosh the water
in the boat's Frozen these boats are
called Flat Water Sprint boats and
they're called that because the whole
point is to go
fast to make the boats go fast and go
how you want them to and control them
you have to practice and you have to
have the right technique sometimes if
you don't have the right technique
you'll flip but that's just part of the
sport today I'm going to go out and do a
time tral I'm going to go try to beat my
best time which is 2 minutes and 20
seconds and it's going to be on 500 M
and if I don't then that's why I'm out
here in the winter I want to work hard
and I want to be able to beat it so I
can be one of the fastest during the
racing season
the command will be attention please
followed by go K2 Ley Brey up take for
back pay two hold Quincy back everybody
hold attention
please
go for a sport that seems so simple
there's so many things to learn and so
many different techniques and if you
don't learn those then you won't be as
[Music]
fast go really fast weing I practice
timing and staying together when we
paddle all right good job time was 2:40
keep up the good work still 20 seconds
off our best time but we have till next
summer so all that matters is that it's
fun
[Music]

here's a challenge that came in on email
from Alex M of Indianapolis Indiana
there are 12 marbles in a bag six are
yellow and six are blue how many marbles
do you need to take out to make sure
that you get two that are the same how
many do you need to pull out to get two
that are different stumped don't read
the answer until you thought about it 12
marbles in a bag six are yellow and six
are blue how many marbles do you need to
take out to make sure that you get two
that are the same how many do you need
to pull out to get two that are
different okay well what do you think I
don't know maybe six or four what do you
think I'm not sure yet but if you think
let's see if you had 12 if you had let's
see
one it doesn't matter how big they are 2
three four five is six blue
and okay we can pretend this pink is
yellow one 2 8 9 10
11 12 here we go now you need it you can
only pull out you have to pull out two
of one kind so how many do you think you
need to get the least to get the least
well to pull out the least number but to
pull out two of the same kind
hm what do you think though maybe four
I'm not sure this is a high I think I
know way you could find the
answer
try no if you
took two of one kind uhhm there's two
Marbles and
then you need but then you don't
wouldn't be sure that you'd always get
two yeah because you could get one blue
and one
yellow you want to try for yeah okay
should I just close my eyes close your
eyes and D to five and pull one
two three
four that works but it doesn't but then
if you are wait I I know three yeah that
the you only have to pull out two of
every color so that
means okay let's try C
one two one is that one yeah one two
three see you right yeah three you
always get two of one color and then one
of the other color let's see if we were
right you have to pull out three to make
sure that you get two that are the same
you have to pull out seven to make sure
that you get two that are
different
oh what if there was four different
color marbles how many do you think we'd
have to pill out to make a pair
four different oh I don't know oh I
think I know how this works now how well
if you took say you had okay I have two
of each color I have two clears two
blues and two
yellows then I need to pull up
three and then I'd always need to pull
out one more so it's the number of
marbles plus one extra one
equals equals the number that you'll
need to get a pair oh yes that's so cool
so if I had 49 I need to pull
out 50 yeah because then I I might pull
out 49 separate colors and then I'd
always need one extra one to be sure to
get a pair I get that rule oh cool
you're a
genius oh
yeah tree a poem by Andy B of Princeton
New Jersey I planted a seed down below
and now I want to help it grow it grows
from bottom to middle and top and now I
don't want to let it stop it's growing
and growing so now it's real big but now

like this then moving only three of the
toothpicks make the fish look in the
other direction like
this okay let me go first okay let's see
um
think oops
one that so
one
two and now I have to move one of
them I don't think you can make it
wait no
[Music]
what
happens remember we're only allowed to
move three I
know wait but what's I only have to move
one more this may be the way but only
one more which one is
it that's the
mysty wait let me just move it
back all right you try it um
one
[Music]
two so that's four now see you can go
like that like what
[Music]
wait oh I think I got it
wait wait I'm TR
okay go like this
one two
it last time no what
way look at a
cow how do you how do
you okay let me see only three those
four would me like
that let's just look at the other ones
so see what we can do
[Music]
keep what I just thought of something
[Music]
again that up there
box g box hold on hold on I'm seeing
something
oh three yes we got it we got it yes
finally
W jeez that was really hard yes only
because of a little box I know just one
little stick gave it away
hey Zo hi how do you catch a gorilla I
don't know climb up a tree and go
[Music]
bananas watch
this chop chop chop okay ready
look it's already
spiced Savannah be of Sugar Creek
Missouri sent us this trick to do it all
you need is a banana and a toothpick
before showing your friends this trick
poke some holes into the banana using
the
[Music]
toothpick the hole should be about an
inch
apart then using the
toothpick just work your way around
inside the ban B to pre- slice
it you want to get it at all different
angles and make sure you go all the way
through the
[Music]
banana do this for all the
[Music]
holes okay then gather some friends to
watch the
trick the Kent of karate chop the
banana and show them that there's no
holes or slices
anywhere
then open it
up to reveal your magically sliced
banana
[Music]
voila hey Ray hey s what do monkeys sing
before a football game I don't know the
Star Spangled banana oh Spangled gold

Tails how snowflakes got their shape
written and illustrated by Nicole s of
Oakton
Virginia there once was a village on a
stratus cloud it was the village of
snowflakes there were lots of snowflake
children Jack and Willie were best
friends they looked exactly alike Chloe
and Tommy were twins they also looked
exactly alike in fact all the snowflake
Children looked exactly
alike strange things started to happen
when they all went to school Miss Frost
their teacher could not tell the
snowflakes apart she would have to call
each of them by name just to see who was
who Jack and Willie had a great idea
they all went to see the winter King
Willie and Jack nervously asked excuse
me master sir we mean Mr winter King why
are we all the same Jack said can we be
different Mr winter King replied well
you see young snowflake kids should all
be the same look the same act the same
etc etc etc so you'll be equal Chloe
said please Mr winter King can we all
have our own individual pattern that we
can be proud of Mr winter King said but
you will be different they all said yes
please Mr winter King said okay but you
must promise to accept each other and
your differences they all promised that
they would Mr winter King said very well
you will all be different and he raised
his wand to this day the snowflake
children are still different getting
along is sometimes a little hard but
much more fun
the
end hey Kenny yeah what the doctor say
to the banana I don't know are you
peeling okay I'm not feeling
[Music]
okay we've been trying to find out if
more people are squares or rectangles to
do this kids from all around the country
have been measuring their height the
distance from their head to their toes
and their arm spin the distance from the
longest finger on their left hand to the
longest finger on the right hand if the
two measurements are the same then
they're squares but if the two
measurements are different then they're
rectangles this is a pie chart showing
all the data we've received so far as
you can see slightly more girls are
rectangles and slightly more guys are
squares maybe that's because girl girls
grow taller before the arms go longer
that would make them rectangled yeah but
the number of boys and girls who are
square and rectangles is still prettyy
close it'll be interesting to see
what'll happen when we get more data so
make sure you collect your data measure
the height and our span of you your
friends and your family write down if
they're a boy or a girl and how old they
are then send your results to zoom
[Music]
[Applause]
uh you've got two penguins in your car
