Follow me down.

And here we are.

Welcome to the race course.

[ cheering] This is where the rubber meets

the dirt, and the final decision will be made

between Dewey and Leah for who gets the $, scholarship

from Intel.

[ cheering] Yeah, Leah!

This is when Dewey gets the Intel scholarship.

You wish!

This is where we find out.

Excuse me?

I honestly can't wait to see what happens.

You've got all the tools you need to do your final touchups,

all right?

Once you run over the machines and make sure everything's

working fine, you can use the grassy area here, and there's a

smaller course over there that goes around the pond for test

driving.

Green Team, you can use this opportunity to decide who's

actually going to be driving, because I know there's still

some dispute over that.

No dispute, just... we haven't decided yet between Kim

and Deysi.

Fair enough.

Any questions?

Nope.

No questions.

Go to it.

Okay.

Let's go.

Looks really good.

Deysi, you want to get in the passenger's seat?

No, I'm good.

It fits?

[ laughter] It's funny because your head

is big.

Are you ready to do a test?

Yeah.

You guys ready for danger?

Yes!

Do you have the seat belts all set?

Yeah.

Do you have them tight?

Yep.

In case you were wondering, we got this black box on here.

It's running the camera equipment so that we can look

directly into your frightened faces as you're racing.

[ laughter] So, ready to go?

Yeah.

Hey, Deysi, you want to drive?

Yeah, you bet.

All right.

Deysi, I'll time you, after you turn the car around, okay?

And the same with you, okay?

Sounds good.

[ engine revving]

It looks like Green's going for a test run.

This should be humorous.

Ready?

Yeah, go.

Deysi is a maniac.

Look how fast they're going.

Ah!

seconds.

We're going to be way faster than that.

Oh, she's faster.

seconds.

Ha, ha, ha!

Oh, my god.

Victory.

I'm going to have to make a decision.

And I think I'm going to go with Kim.

Are you okay with that?

Yeah, that's fine.

I don't care.

Passenger's seat is the b*mb too.

I know, I know.

It was a great run.

In the end, it just came down to the fact that in the trial

run, Kim got the faster time, and Deysi's a faster runner.

So we thought it would be good if she was running to get the

flags.

Are you ready to try this?

Come on.

Yeah, we're ready to try this-- been ready since I got

here.

I was born ready.

Go on in this thing, man.

Oh, god.

Oh, that was mad quick.

That was fast.

They're slow.

They're very slow.

Go, go, go.

Watch your foot.

That's good!

Whoo!

High five!

Okay, that was good.

So much fun.

Oh, I can't wait to get on the actual course.

I feel amazingly good about our chances.

Trejonda, I got to worry and make sure that my time's faster

than hers.

I got nothing to worry about with her driving.

Nick and Tomas aren't going to miss a flag.

Let's just pad it up.

Yeah.

Because we're going to get bruised up if we keep hitting

the stuff, so...

Come on.

Stop now.

We're going to want to get these too, because we're going

to be bashing up against those pretty good.

I am so exciting for race day.

It's going to be awesome.

Okay, I need some more tape to go around here.

What's that?

It's the "w*r Plow."

w*r Plow!

I didn't even know we named it.

But we're kind of missing a w,so it's just the "w*r Plo."

w*r Plo on the prowl.

Yeah, that'll do.

Does it hurt?

It works good.

The strategy for tomorrow, guys, we've got to make sure

that we get our transitions good.

Yeah.

We should keep practicing those.

For the most part, try to go as fast as you can, when you

can.

Yeah, yeah.

All right, guys.

Well, tomorrow's the big day.

We got the race coming up.

So we're just going to have to beast this.

We got to crank it, just go faster.

And more importantly, we got the purple w*r Plo behind us.

All right.

We got this.

Can't do any better than that.

Nice.

All right, well, I'm ready.

w*r Plo!

w*r Plo!

w*r Plo!

w*r Plo!

w*r Plo!

"Green Team" on three.

One, two, three.

Green Team!

[ laughter]

Design Squads, this is it.

We're moments before what you've all been waiting for, the final

challenge.

You guys have worked really hard this season, and now it's all

adding up to these moments between Dewey and Leah for the

Intel scholarship.

Go Leah.

Are you guys ready or what?

Oh, yeah-- oh, yeah.

Yeah, yeah.

Okay, so we have to pick who goes first.

We're going to do a coin toss.

Leah gets to call it because Dewey had it last time.

Now, the winner gets to pick who will go first.

If you choose to go second, that's your choice, all right?

Leah, call it in the air.

Heads.

Tails.

Tails never fails.

Uh, do we want to go second?

All right, you guys are going first.

Purple's going second, and Green is going first.

That's cool.

That's good.

It don't matter.

All right, let's go over the rules.

Remember, it's a timed race, not a head-to-head competition.

The course is a half-mile loop that each team will be doing

twice.

They're going to be facing all kinds of obstacles: a mud pit, a

hill, a rock wall, and a jump.

On top of that, the navigators need to keep their eyes open for

flags.

There are six flags positioned throughout the course.

They're numbered one through six, but they are not in

numerical order through the course.

Now, the first pair is going to be picking out numbers one, two,

and three.

The second pair picks up four, five, and six on their lap.

If you go and pick up a four, for instance, when you're not

supposed to pick up the four, you can either put it back, or

if you choose to take it instead or leave it on the ground,

that's a minute penalty.

Additional points-- it's a race, and you're driving fast, but we

want you to be safe, all right?

Put your seat belts on.

We've got cameras watching you the whole time, and for each

time you do not put your seat belt on after picking up a flag,

you'll be penalized an additional minute, all right?

Anything else?

Nope.

Let's race.

All right!

Good luck, Tomas.

For all the talk, I'm still so nervous.

Everything comes down to this.

The only disadvantage is I think, in general, our team is

going to weigh a little more, so that might slow us down a

little.

Going up the hill, I think it's be an advantage to us that

we're a lighter team.

I'm feeling pressure.

It's so intense.

But I really want this.

Well, the best of luck to you, Leah.

Good luck.

Whew.

All right, we're good.

Okay, stop.

So this is it.

I'm really proud of all of you guys, and I have a lot of

confidence in this team.

Just think about having fun, and I think we'll do good, so...

That was nice.

Group hug, come on.

[ laughter] Thank you.

All right, guys.

So I think we got this, okay?

All right.

Green Team, are you ready?

Yes.

Start your engine.

The Design Squadfinal race is about to begin.

Ready!

Set!

Go!

[ cheering] Let's give them another

cheer.

[ cheering]

Okay.

Okay, bump here.

Floor it!

[ cheering]

Stop!

Stop!

Stop!

Stop!

What?

The flag!

Oh.

No, it's four.

Sorry.

I apologize.

Now I know what that means.

Yeah, when I say, "Stop," Kim, we got to stop.

All right.

Okay.

One!

You good?

Go!

That's five.

I really shouldn't be looking at this.

Don't worry.

I got it.

Watch out for that.

I see another flag.

It's two.

Okay.

You got it?

Run, run, run, run!

Go faster.

This is the hill.

Floor it.

Come on, please.

Go, go, go!

That's six.

We just need three, right?

Six, six.

Okay, jump coming up.

Slow, go slow.

Yeah.

Just ease it down now.

Nice and easy.

Cool.

That's it right there.

Yeah.

All right, get out.

Here, I'm going to go...

So we have all three?

Yeah.

Sweet.

One, two, three-- yeah.

Go for it!

Owie, Mommy!

All right, they're coming.

They're coming.

They're coming.

Slow it down.

Stop, stop, stop, stop.

Go, go, go.

Go, go, go, go.

Wait, wait.

You got it?

It's on the chain.

Go, go, go, go.

Go, go, go, go.

Yeah, we got all three.

Could have run faster, but Kim's driving was stellar.

Why, thank you.

We flipped once, but...

We didn't even flip.

I saved us.

Go, go, go!

Go!

Go, go, go, go!

Freaking A!

Deysi, get out, push!

Come back in.

Come back, come back.

sh**t.

You're not buckled in.

Go!

Nice.

It's okay.

Where's the flags?

I'm flooring it.

Wait, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!

Oh.

Go, go!

Get in.

Go, go.

Tell me when to stop.

Okay.

Stop, stop, stop, stop!

Go, go, go.

Deysi, come on, get in!

Go!

Watch out for the last flag.

Right here's the jump.

Over there, over there, over there, over there!

Get in.

There it is.

Go!

Just go, just go, just go!

Here we go!

Ah!

All right, between the trees, between the trees.

Go, go, go, go, go.

Go.

Go, you got this, go!

All right, home stretch.

Go!

Here they come.

The brake isn't working!

Whoa.

Get out of there.

Let's go.

Got the flags!

The brake isn't working!

What?

No way.

Did you get all three?

Yeah, we did.

What do you think?

Nice job, guys.

Final time is and a half minutes.

and a half.

I'd rather have a time to beat than have to set something.

Good choice you made there, man.

Just have faith, guys.

This is a piece of pie.

Piece of pie.

Yes.

All right, good job, guys.

Aw, man.

All right, guys, bring it in.

We've done a whole lot of challenges, guys, and it all

comes down to this.

So, you know, race for yourselves, guys.

Think of something inspirational someone else has said and, like,

put my head on their body and, you know, go out there and take

them down.

We got this, guys.

Yeah!

Purple Team, are you ready?

Yeah.

I'm going to bring you three flags.

Start your engines.

[ engine revving] Stand back.

Ready!

Set!

Go easy.

Go!

Whoo!

Go fast.

Ah, come on, come on.

[ Tomas grunting] Whoa, whoa, whoa.

[ Tomas grunting]

Go, go.

Are you looking for flags?

Yeah.

Whoa!

There goes a flag!

Stop, stop, stop!

Right there, stop.

Hurry.

Go, come, come.

Come on.

Buckle up, buckle up.

Hold on to the flag.

Push it.

[ Tomas grunting]

I'm in, I'm in.

Go, go.

Ugh.

Okay, stop, over there.

Okay, go.

Gas, gas.

I'm going.

It's not...

Go, push gas.

I...

No flags?

No.

Good job, good job.

Go.

Oh, there.

Go, go, go, go, go.

I'm going to meet you.

We got all flags.

Okay, you can go.

Oh.

Here they come.

All right.

You guys got to get this.

Go, go, go, go.

:, just go.

I know.

I got the lean.

I got the lean.

No penalties.

How do you feel about the time?

Are you guys worried?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Especially in the mud.

I'm like, "Oh, nah, we're going to get there late."

Yeah.

Yee-ha!

Flag, there's a flag.

Flag, flag, flag, flag.

Go!

Flag right there.

Flag right there.

but... like, um, : faster, to be exact.

But yeah, around about there was good.

This is an awesome vehicle.

You should be very proud.

Yeah, you did great.

You know, we've come so close, but, you know, hey, I had

a lot of fun.

Awesome job, Dewey.

Guys, congratulations to everybody.

Thank you.

You've done an incredible job this season.

There's only one $, scholarship.

From the Intel Foundation.

And it's going to Leah.

[ cheering and applause] Yeah, Leah!

Congratulations.

How am I supposed to spend it like this?

Thank you.

Thank you to everyone.

This is unbelievably big for me.

You deserve it.

You deserve it.

[ applause] Nice job to everybody.

I'm serious.

I'm really impressed with your work this season.

Things started off.

Some of you knew how to use some tools.

Some of you knew how to do engineering.

You guys did some really dumb things.

[ laughter] But as a result, you guys

learned so much.

So nice job, everybody.

My applause to you.

[ cheering and applause] Congratulations, Leah.

Engineering is something that anyone can do, and I think it's

a lot of fun, and I think you should really try it.

When I come to think of engineering, I definitely don't

think of, you know, anything like this.

So it's... it was so much fun.

Being on Design Squad has been the best experience of my

life.

My stepdad, whenever he does things around the house, I

always want to help, and to really be able to, like, build

things on your own, it's like, "Forget you, stepdad.

I know how to do it.

Like, I don't need your help.

I'll do it myself."

You know, even if people tell you you're a history/English

person like they tell me, you can still do engineering, and

you can still be good at it.

I usually don't do this kind of stuff, and I didn't know I

really had it in me, and now I know that I'm able to do things

that usually women don't feel comfortable doing, and this

might just, like, encourage them to be like, "Hey, you know what?

I can be a welder.

Yeah, I'm a woman-- what?

I could go weld."

And I'm just, like, proud of, like, who I have become.

Hey, have you checked our Web site?

Yeah, it's pretty cool.

You can build projects on your own or with your friends, and

you can win cool stuff.

Oh, check it out.
