- MJ: Previously, on "The Real World."

- I guess you're wondering what you're gonna do

while you're with the Soul, right?

- SARAH: We're going to be working with kids

and do community service.

- One of the things that we're gonna be stressing is

that you can't fraternize with the staff.

- LANDON: Shavonda, if you're not gonna hook up with me,

then I'm just gonna bring other girls home,

and you're just gonna have to deal with it.

- This is the true story--

- --of seven strangers--

- MJ: Oh my god!

--picked to live in a house--

- --work together, and have their lives taped--

- --to find out what happens-- I'm over it.

- --when people stop being polite--

- WILLIE: Oh, shut up!

- --and start getting real.

- [whistle]

- I've never been in New York City,

so I'm having a really good time.

And just trying to live in the moment as much as I can.

- [whistle]

- ♪

- CROWD: [cheering]

- ♪

- [grunts]

- ♪

- MAN: Yeah!

- [whistle]

- CROWD: [cheers and applause]

- I'm way in the bizzack.

- I'll take the water. - Here you go.

- Here. Here, you guys, take it from me.

Everybody's thinking I'm, like, an alcoholic.

I'm like, I swear to god.

- ♪

- Bad news, man. [laughs]

- Gina's sexy.

She is sexier.

She's sexy.

- Oh yeah, she does.

Fraternizing rules like that?

They're meant to be broken.

Gina is, uh, in the accounting department

for the Philadelphia Soul.

You know, I'm pretty attracted to her.

MJ and I were talking about it

and just kind of like, oh yeah, she's cute.

And then I just kind of, like, took things, you know,

into my own hands.

- [indistinct chatter]

- LANDON: Fraternizing? What is fraternizing?

Hanging out?

You can't hang out with your coworkers?

And it's like usually people, you know, who you work with,

you end up being really close with.

- [indistinct chatter]

- LANDON: The no fraternization rule is...

composed of a lot of gray area.

Like, no one really knows what--what it all entails.

Will you come out tonight?

See, would you get in trouble after the [unintelligible]?

Because...

But to me, it's just a little foggy.

I'm not really sure what breaking the rules are.

See you tomorrow morning.

- GINA: [unintelligible] - LANDON: Yes.

No fraternizing means no sexual relations, no kissing,

no anything with anybody that we work with.

Fraternizing is, like, if Landon made out with you.

- MELANIE: No, we're fine. We're fine.

- Welcome to our palace. - Hey, Shavonda.

- ♪

- LANDON: These are our "feesh."

- GINA: Okay, what happened to Willie's fish?

- And Willie...

kind of got torn apart by Karamo.

Karamo's a little black guy. - Aw!

- Fraternizing with a Soul employee is kind of stupid,

but then again, Landon does stupid things.

- Shavonda, right there. Ooh! She is a terror!

I think there's still some feeling there

between Shavonda and I.

And I think it just pisses her off

that I would dare bring a girl home

and, you know, in her house.

She is so mean.

- ♪

- LAURA: Monday, our appearance

is going to be with the dance team.

And we're going to walk for Easterseals.

- That's awesome.

- KARAMO: Easterseals Walkathon is a yearly event that raises

money for children with developmental disabilities.

- LAURA: We're gonna point all of, like,

the actual walker and runners in the right direction

and help them register and things like that.

- Easterseals? - Awesome, awesome.

- ♪

- SHAVONDA: Since I was little, I've been uncomfortable around,

um, disabled people.

Laura was describing the jobs that we could take

at this Easterseals event.

And I'm like, man, I don't want to do that.

Problem with being able to work with,

like, special needs children.

When I was little, we'd be on the playground,

and...the special ed class would let the kids

come out and play on the playground too.

They would push us out of the way at the water fountain

and kick us off the swing. They were just mean.

And it scared the crap out of me.

I didn't think that I would carry the discomfort

and the fear with me as I got older.

I was gonna eat it up and do it because

I don't want to be disrespectful.

I don't want to tell Laura, no, I'm not going.

You know, that's my job.

But if she can be empathetic and realize

that I really don't want to do it--

- LAURA: If you feel like, let me just try it,

and then see if it goes okay.

And if you feel uncomfortable once you get there and you say,

Laura, I can't--I can't do it, then that's fine.

I'm not gonna pressure you to do anything you don't wanna do.

I want you to understand that.

- ♪

- SARAH: People have phobias.

Like, they just do, of, like, strange things

that other people can't understand.

So I'm not gonna judge you on it, like, at all.

The thing about kids with cerebral palsy, though,

is that the thing that's wrong with them is their muscles.

Kids with cerebral palsy can be in the same grade

as somebody their own age. It's just--it's mainly physical.

And it's really sad, because people think that they are

mentally Ret*rded or, like, challenged, and they're not,

most of the time, at all.

- MELANIE: Who? - The challenged kids.

- Shavonda, you have such a fear.

You know what I think you should do?

I think you should face it and work with the kids.

- SHAVONDA: It's sad and it's scary.

I don't know if I'm one of those people

who's strong enough to deal with it.

- ♪

- Oh, [bleep], have to deal with that.

- SARAH: She's not as... - Judgmental.

And then she's like, "Well, this what--"

And I'm like, "I don't know what you're talking about,

so please don't chime in." Whatever.

If I have to deal with it, I'll deal with it.

I don't wanna do it, I don't wanna do it.

She's like, "You need to conquer your fear."

Bite me.

- [phone rings]

- GINA: Hello? - LANDON: Hey, Gina, what's up?

If you want to go out tonight, that'd be cool.

The way I feel about it is whatever happens,

if you can conduct yourself in a professional manner

in the office, then why is it a problem?

Sounds good.

- GINA: [giggles] See ya. - Bye.

- [car horns honking]

- ♪

- LANDON: Gina seems like a real sweet girl.

And, uh, I'm attracted to her.

And we're just, um, having some fun.

- Here's the deal.

The conversation on the bus that we had was awesome.

But... - But...

oh, now, I gotta [unintelligible].

- I can't just hook up with somebody.

Like, I am so looking for somebody to go home to.

You get what I'm saying?

- That's good. That's okay. That's good.

I respect you for that.

I told you before, I'm looking for a sweet girl.

- [indistinct chatter]

- Yeah? I think you're adorable.

But I don't wanna be that [unintelligible] that girl.

You know what I'm saying? - I understand.

- I just don't know if I can handle,

like, you just picking up and leaving again.

- No, I mean, I never thought that...

we'd be going to the game together.

I never thought we'd sit on the bus together

and talk for two and a half hours.

You know, like, I...didn't know.

- Things happen, and you don't expect them.

- I know. Things happen, yeah.

Okay, well, I just have some, like, straight-up questions.

Like, I don't understand how...

Like, what does that mean? - Here's the thing.

Until everything is out in the open, nobody can know.

- LANDON: I don't want to make things uncomfortable

at the office.

I guess I just really wanted to, like, get to know Gina and, um,

have a fun time with her.

- LANDON: As Gina and I are dancing, kissing, and whatnot,

the fraternization thing is, like,

screaming in the back of my head.

that feels like I could get fired.

- LANDON: The policy is, is that if we get fired from our job

with the Philadelphia Soul, that we have to go home.

- GINA: Hello? - LANDON: Hey, what's up, Gina?

Did you make it home okay? - GINA: Yeah, I'm okay.

- LANDON: All right, you're sleeping.

Yeah. Are you sleeping?

- GINA: No, I'm not sleeping. I just got into bed, actually.

- I'm sorry.

I will talk to you tomorrow.

But I just wanted to make sure that you made it home okay.

- GINA: That was very sweet of you, yes.

- Okay. You get a good night's sleep,

and I'll see you tomorrow morning.

- GINA: I'll see you in about two hours.

- [laughs] Sounds great.

All right, see you tomorrow, sweetie.

- GINA: Bye. - LANDON: Bye.

- [hangs up]

- [alarm clock blares]

- We have to do something that I absolutely hate,

which waking up early to do the Easterseals walk.

It's a good cause, and I'm glad we're doing it.

But why so early?

- ♪

- --time! - : in the AM.

How are you doing? - Good mornin'.

- Hi, guys! You're on time.

You're good. Nice job.

I'm gonna have five of you stay at the tables with, um,

the soulmate and the child.

They're gonna have disposable cameras.

And then two of you will help out with registration.

- ♪

- Is anyone else ready to register?

- ♪

- LANDON: We talked about everything last night.

- Who did? - Gina and I.

- Okay.

- She's like, "I don't wanna be one of those girls."

I'm like, "I don't want one of those girls etiher."

She's a very nice woman.

- MJ: It seems like Landon just gets swept off his feet,

and then he goes for it.

And I just hope things don't blow up in his face.

- [indistinct chatter]

- I woke up.

I'm like, "Oh, are you kidding me?"

- [indistinct chatter]

- SHAVONDA: Olivia has cerebral palsy.

And I'm going to be kind of with her family today.

- [indistinct chatter]

- SHAVONDA: I'm definitely nervous.

And I have to basically take care of this ambassador family

all morning. And it's just me.

As an adult, working around the challenged kids still, like,

makes me nervous.

And the Easterseals walk is something that I am dealing

with, and I'm gonna try and, like, tackle while I'm out here.

- MAN: I'd like to start by introducing Oliva.

- CROWD: [cheers and applause]

- MAN: Since Olivia began attending Easterseals-approved

private school, her social skills have blossomed.

Olivia also serves as our child representative

for Easterseals.

- CROWD: [cheers and applause]

- She's all, "That's me!"

I'm looking at Olivia, and her family is treating her like

the normal five-year-old she is.

They're not babying her.

They're not treating her like she's broken.

And I'm just starting to realize, you know, yeah,

she has a disability, but she's nothing to be afraid of.

- Yeah!

- ♪

- LANDON: Olivia's nowhere in sight.

They are keeping a pace that's unprecedented.

- ♪

- Yeah!

- ♪

- Yay!

I'm just so elated right now, being here, seeing the kids.

And you can really tell that this is really helping them out.

Yeah!

Just an amazing feeling.

- Whoo!

- MJ: That was--that was very rewarding.

- That family just gave me a hug.

- Who?

- The grandma of that little girl.

She's like, "Thank you so much."

- Thank you! Good job, Olivia!

- Good job! Yay, girly!

- It was a good day, and I felt good about it.

- [chuckles] It's good.

- LANDON: I don't want to cause trouble.

I just--I don't wanna make things difficult.

So-- - GINA: What does that mean?

Seriously, like--

- LANDON: Like, I don't know whether to, like,

you know, give you a goodbye kiss--

- ♪

- GINA: So I think that last night, you were in

like, a drunken state. - LANDON: No, that's not it.

That's not it.

I just don't want to get you in trouble.

- Why are you looking at me like that?

Seriously, why?

- 'Cause I'm just, like, struggling.

- Struggling for what?

- Uh...I wanna kiss you, all sorts of things.

- GINA: All sorts of things? - Yeah.

Like, responsible and...you know...

- Okay, responsibility went right out the window.

It's just sitting there. There's our responsibility.

- LANDON: Gina knows about

the fraternization rule better than I do.

So I guess I'm, like, you know, if Gina thinks it's okay,

I think I'm safe.

Okay.

- ♪

- I'm thinking, you know, why this meeting?

It wasn't planned. Mimi walks in.

- Good morning. - I hear you did really well

at the Easterseal function yesterday.

- It was fun.

- And...she sits down.

- LAURA: Hi. We just wanted to talk to you really quick.

Um, just about, um, your conduct when you're with the Soul.

- LANDON: I know why Mimi's here.

And I see the sheet.

Laura's got it out, our contract.

- MIMI: You also had to all fill out what is called

an Intern Rules of Conduct.

You know, it says that the interns are strictly prohibited

from fraternizing in any way with the players,

with the dance team, with the promotions team,

with the front office, and it goes on and on.

- ♪

- Landon's scared [bleep]less.

- MIMI: Fraternization is maybe a difficult thing to define.

- SHAVONDA: He's not making eye contact.

He's playing with his pen.

- We put you in a position

where you're doing community appearances

with players and with staff, and we want that interaction.

But there comes a point when you draw the line.

- This can get bad.

- And that line's been breached.

- Landon could get fired.

- ♪

- ♪

- MIMI: You know, we put you in a position where you're doing

community appearances with players and with staff,

and we want that interaction.

In the community, you have proven to be everything

that we expected you would be.

But I think there's been a little lapse in, uh,

some of the relationships that have been forming or occurring

outside of the community work.

If there's any question as to who's a Soul employee

or who's not, please feel free to ask.

- LANDON: I'm taking, you know, very seriously the fact that

Mimi has come in to talk to us, meaning me,

about this fraternization rule.

- MIMI: As you all know, I've got kids that are your age.

When they would go out at night, you know,

it was never the "be good."

It was just "make good choices."

You know, make good choices.

It's up to you guys, okay?

- ♪

- MELANIE: They stressed that the first second.

- That was the first thing they said.

- The second we met 'em, yeah. - The first thing they said.

- I just don't get it.

- WILLIE: Scandal, right?

- MELANIE: Gina, Gina, Gina.

- WILLIE: Like, why take the chance?

- MELANIE: I just don't think it's fair that

nothing's happening, though, you know?

- WILLIE: Yeah, that's kind of whack.

- Like, yeah, finally have the group talk, but talk to him.

- [sizzling]

- MELANIE: The entire time in the meeting--

- ♪

- [phone rings]

- SHAUN: Hello? - SHAVONDA: Hi, babe.

- SHAUN: What's going on?

- Went to that... Easterseals walk.

- SHAUN: How did that go? - It was good.

It was just early and... [yawns] it was cold.

But they had lots of food for us and, like,

we were each assigned a-- this, like, ambassador.

So it was, like, five kids that

you choose to run for or walk for.

And, uh, I had Olivia, and she has cerebral palsy.

And, um, her family was there.

She was so cute.

Her dad was there, 'cause the mom--

I think I'm starting to

conquer my fear of working around kids with disabilities.

- ♪

- LANDON: Dude, Mimi wanted to come down on me today.

- Yeah, I wanted to talk about that.

I know you didn't want to tell anybody else.

That was...she was nervous as hell, too.

- I was--I was watching her shake.

I'm glad she was a little more nervous that I was.

- --going nuts.

- LANDON: Yeah, Gina was just, like,

"We've already crossed that line.

It's like there's no going back."

- MJ: Um, about what?

- About us kissing. - MJ: Oh, really?

- We might as well just keep going with it.

Like, "Girl, I don't want you to get fired."

She's like, "I'm not gonna get fired."

- Damn, she's persistent! - LANDON: Mm-hmm.

- She's not worried about anything.

- No, she knows what she wants. I don't blame her.

- MJ: [laughs]

You touched her boob? - A little bit.

- MJ: Have you seen her boob? - No.

Mimi said that basically, from today here forth that things

need to be straight, so that's good.

'Cause they will be.

- MJ: I think that Landon has kind of learned his lesson.

I don't--I don't see Landon

fraternizing again in the office.

- ♪

- [phone rings]

- GINA'S VOICEMAIL: Hey, I can't get to my phone.

But leave a message, and I'll be sure to get back to you.

- [beep]

- Hey, Gina, what's up? It's Landon.

Um, I'm just calling.

Um...we need to talk.

We can't continue.

She could get fired, which would, you know, be, like,

the worst thing.

Um, I could get fired.

Mimi came in today and talked to us about...

like, everything that's been going on.

And, um, yeah, so if you wanna give me a call,

I'd really appreciate it.

I think the best move is just to completely end things,

sever all ties.

- KARAMO: I forced feelings for Dorian.

He's not really what I like.
