And it's like usually people, you know, who you work with,
you end up being really close with.

Like, no one really knows what--what it all entails.

But to me, it's just a little foggy.

no anything with anybody that we work with.

- Fraternizing with a Soul employee is kind of stupid,
but then again, Landon does stupid things.
- Shavonda, right there. Ooh! She is a terror!
I think there's still some feeling there
between Shavonda and I.
And I think it just pisses her off
that I would dare bring a girl home
and, you know, in her house.
She is so mean.

- LAURA: Monday, our appearance
is going to be with the dance team.
And we're going to walk for Easterseals.
- That's awesome.
- KARAMO: Easterseals Walkathon is a yearly event that raises
money for children with developmental disabilities.
- LAURA: We're gonna point all of, like,
the actual walker and runners in the right direction
and help them register and things like that.
- Easterseals? - Awesome, awesome.
- ♪
- SHAVONDA: Since I was little, I've been uncomfortable around,
um, disabled people.
Laura was describing the jobs that we could take
at this Easterseals event.
And I'm like, man, I don't want to do that.
Problem with being able to work with,
like, special needs children.
When I was little, we'd be on the playground,
and...the special ed class would let the kids
come out and play on the playground too.
They would push us out of the way at the water fountain
and kick us off the swing. They were just mean.
And it scared the crap out of me.
I didn't think that I would carry the discomfort
and the fear with me as I got older.
I was gonna eat it up and do it because
I don't want to be disrespectful.
I don't want to tell Laura, no, I'm not going.
You know, that's my job.
But if she can be empathetic and realize
that I really don't want to do it--
- LAURA: If you feel like, let me just try it,
and then see if it goes okay.
And if you feel uncomfortable once you get there and you say,
Laura, I can't--I can't do it, then that's fine.
I'm not gonna pressure you to do anything you don't wanna do.
I want you to understand that.

- SARAH: People have phobias.
Like, they just do, of, like, strange things
that other people can't understand.
So I'm not gonna judge you on it, like, at all.
The thing about kids with cerebral palsy, though,
is that the thing that's wrong with them is their muscles.
Kids with cerebral palsy can be in the same grade
as somebody their own age. It's just--it's mainly physical.
And it's really sad, because people think that they are
mentally Ret*rded or, like, challenged, and they're not,
most of the time, at all.
- MELANIE: Who? - The challenged kids.
- Shavonda, you have such a fear.
You know what I think you should do?
I think you should face it and work with the kids.
- SHAVONDA: It's sad and it's scary.
I don't know if I'm one of those people
who's strong enough to deal with it.

- SARAH: She's not as... - Judgmental.
And then she's like, "Well, this what--"
And I'm like, "I don't know what you're talking about,
so please don't chime in." Whatever.
If I have to deal with it, I'll deal with it.

She's like, "You need to conquer your fear."

- GINA: Hello? - LANDON: Hey, Gina, what's up?
If you want to go out tonight, that'd be cool.
The way I feel about it is whatever happens,
if you can conduct yourself in a professional manner
in the office, then why is it a problem?

- GINA: [giggles] See ya. - Bye.
- [car horns honking]

- LANDON: Gina seems like a real sweet girl.
And, uh, I'm attracted to her.
And we're just, um, having some fun.

- We have to do something that I absolutely hate,
which waking up early to do the Easterseals walk.
It's a good cause, and I'm glad we're doing it.

I'm gonna have five of you stay at the tables with, um,
the soulmate and the child.
They're gonna have disposable cameras.

- LANDON: We talked about everything last night.

And I just hope things don't blow up in his face.

- SHAVONDA: Olivia has cerebral palsy.
And I'm going to be kind of with her family today.

- SHAVONDA: I'm definitely nervous.
And I have to basically take care of this ambassador family
all morning. And it's just me.
As an adult, working around the challenged kids still, like,
makes me nervous.
And the Easterseals walk is something that I am dealing
with, and I'm gonna try and, like, tackle while I'm out here.
- MAN: I'd like to start by introducing Oliva.
- CROWD: [cheers and applause]
- MAN: Since Olivia began attending Easterseals-approved
private school, her social skills have blossomed.
Olivia also serves as our child representative
for Easterseals.
- CROWD: [cheers and applause]
- She's all, "That's me!"
I'm looking at Olivia, and her family is treating her like
the normal five-year-old she is.
They're not babying her.
They're not treating her like she's broken.
And I'm just starting to realize, you know, yeah,
she has a disability, but she's nothing to be afraid of.
- Yeah!

- LANDON: Olivia's nowhere in sight.
They are keeping a pace that's unprecedented.

I'm just so elated right now, being here, seeing the kids.
And you can really tell that this is really helping them out.

an Intern Rules of Conduct.
You know, it says that the interns are strictly prohibited
from fraternizing in any way with the players,
with the dance team, with the promotions team,
with the front office, and it goes on and on.

- Landon's scared [bleep]less.
- MIMI: Fraternization is maybe a difficult thing to define.
- SHAVONDA: He's not making eye contact.
He's playing with his pen.

where you're doing community appearances
with players and with staff, and we want that interaction.
But there comes a point when you draw the line.

- And that line's been breached.
- Landon could get fired.

you choose to run for or walk for.
And, uh, I had Olivia, and she has cerebral palsy.
And, um, her family was there.
She was so cute.
