was formed.
Zach, you, me, and Nick.
To the end, this is it.

ANNOUNCER: Tempers flared when Jen got caught in a lie.
Uh, oh.
So when did I try and kiss you on the mouth?
I'm not-- don't.
I just hate people who lie.
Amber tried to turn the house against her.

America's Player had to turn on the waterworks

Eric, I know when something's bothering you.
Please, like, call one of these places and get better.
ANNOUNCER: After the hide and seek veto competition--
Congratulations, Danielle, you won the first power of veto.
ANNOUNCER: All eyes were on Danielle.
My decision not to use the power of veto.
ANNOUNCER: Who be the first house guest evicted
from the "Big Brother" house--
Carol or Amber?
And which of the nominees did you vote to evict?
Find out tonight, when Eric, America's Player,
casts your vote.
Plus, who will become the next Head of Household?
It all happens tonight, live, on "Big Brother ."
[theme music]
Good evening.
I'm Julie Chen.
Welcome to "Big Brother ."
It is day in the "Big Brother" house
and it's already been an emotional roller coaster ride.
On move in day, six of the house guests
discovered that they would be spending the summer
with a rival, enemy, or someone with whom
they have unfinished business.
d*ck has tried to reach out to his estranged
daughter, Danielle, but she is not ready to talk.
After a volatile week, ex-boyfriends, Dustin and Joe,
are trying to be civil, but will it last?
A while Jessica is being nice to Carol's face,
she couldn't be happier that her former best friend forever is
already on the chopping block.
Also nominated for eviction is Amber, the c*ck
waitress from Las Vegas, who's been turning
to her faith for support.
Tonight, one of these two will walk out the door empty handed.
Their dream of winning the $, grand prize
gone forever.
But first, as the first Head of Household,
Kail's choice of nominees was designed to make
the fewest waves in the house.
But nominations are never easy.
There's been a whirlwind of debate
these past few days as to who should stay and who should go.
This is our very first veto meeting.
Some of you might be surprised--
my decision not to use the power of veto
and to keep the nominations the same.
And this veto ceremony is adjourned.
I think I have a few supporters in the house.
Basically, all I can do, at this point,
is just try and pretend like I'm not bothered,
and try to keep the friends that I have,
and let them know that I want to say, and I need their help.
Are you OK?
Yeah.
I'm not here for myself, I'm here for my family.
That's why I will fight, as hard as I can,
to be here, because I love my family so much.
I love Amber and I know that I can trust Amber.
Out of anybody in the house, I know that I can trust Amber
more than anyone but Danielle.
[music playing]
I just need to tell you, I came into this game-- like,
I was like, I'm going to be that shut
down person that doesn't talk to anybody because I don't--
I have trust issues and I don't trust people.
And you're the only person that I had that with right away.
I didn't expect this to happen.
It's so nice to have someone to turn to.
I don't think it will be a problem.
I think I have more votes than Carol does.
Yea.
We'll have to see how these next two days go.
I really feel confident.
I think I'm safe.
I mean, I think I got more house votes than Carol.
I don't want to go home yet, you know?
Yeah.
I need to try and, like, start winning votes.
I don't know how, though.
I, like-- I don't know what to do.
Who do you think that you have right now?
I think I have Joe, I'm pretty sure I have Danielle,
I kind of think I have you.
You're the smartest choice to keep.
Like not to be rude to you, but, like,
Amber has a lot of alliances.
Like he's already, obviously, started,
so she can be that aggressive.
See, I haven't been aggressive at all.
I've just--
That's what I'm saying.
I've just been myself.
It makes it seem like that's a better person to have here.
Pretty much the only people I think I don't have
are Dustin, d*ck, and Jessica.
I'm really just trying to get out there, and let
people see who I am, and know that they
want to keep me around.
I gave up way too much at home to give up now.
It's not the right time for me to go home at all.
You know that the two of us can
tear through this competition.
I know.
That's what I have been thinking about.
Can we throw away all our past?
We just got into a fight, and never swallowed our prides,
and never apologized.
But I'm sorry now.
Such Yeah.
I'm sorry I was such a b*tch in middle school.
In the beginning, the thought did
cross my mind, one or two times, that we could
team up and run this house.
But then I just remembered, I don't trust her.
I don't trust her at all.
And then she got put up for eviction.
And I was like, problem solved.
OK.
Well, keep working your magic.
Like, I think I'm a strong competitor.
I really think that I have not had the chance to show
what I'm capable of doing.
And like I'm not trying to be mean, but none of the females
strike me as being intelligent, whatsoever.
[music playing]
I think-- I really think we're true to each other.
I know.
We are.
We very much are.
Clearly Amber and Dustin are extremely close.
They are inseparable.
I don't know why we don't want to just
go ahead, and nip this in the bud, and separate it now.
Down the line, two people can be extremely strong together.
I've given up way too much to not stay.
- Yeah. - Right.
I gave up school, I gave up my boyfriend, I have up my family.
Right.
Like, I can't go home yet.
I can't give up.
Yeah.
And I'm going to fight.
The next time you talk to Zach, bring me up.
OK.
And tell him the reasons why I want to stay, you know?
Like, I've giving up too much not to stay.
So if you talk to him, tell him that.
Can you do that?
Yeah, for sure.
Thank you.
No problem.
I love you.
See you later.
It really stinks this week.
And I could totally see it going either way.
But if there's a way that we can make it
so that Carol stays instead-- if Amber stays--
she expected to stay.
And she'll be just like that, yeah, I stayed, duh.
On with my own plane.
Whereas Carol's like, OK, well, I owe you all.
Well, if it seems pretty close, then--
then let's talk. - Yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
That breaks up one alliance that I know will,
eventually, come after me.
So for my best interest--
Oh.
Yeah.
You know, for my best interest, I want to keep Carol.
Well, then the thing would be is if it's close.
Yeah.
- Then I would say, sure. - Yeah.
Exactly.
Perfect.
Thank you, Zach.
For our alliance, for the four of us--
Nick, Mike, Kail, and myself--
we need to figure out the most that we
can gain from either side before we make a decision.
But we all have to make a decision on the same person.
We've got to make sure who has who, for sure.
Because I know Amber has Dustin, for sure.
She's got--
d*ck.
d*ck, for sure.
And then me, you, and Mike, we're
the ones who can flip this whichever way we want.
I know that.
The thing is, is if Carol goes, then that's the only chance I
had at having a lap dog.
[music playing]
I'm going over some--
Is it Carol?
Yeah.
I told you-- I'm down with whatever.
I don't care which way it goes.
Are you guys going with Carol or are guys going with Amber?
I'd rather have Amber here, but that's my-- that's what
I'd say.
What would you have?
I think I would benefit more with Carol.
[knocking]
Hey, girl.
Enjoy the party.
I'm going to go get one.
Boo, y'all.
It's very unusual they're even up here.
Does Mike and Nick say what they're doing?
They don't tell me anything.
And then Joe is voting for Carol to stay.
Jessica and Dustin want Amber to stay.
Wow.
The house really is split.
[music playing]
Let's check in with the house guests
and see how they're doing.
Hello, house guests.
Oh!
Hi, Julie!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Lively bunch tonight.
We can't hear you.
We can't hear you.
We can't hear you.
Testing, testing, one, two, three.
We can't hear you.
Oh, Julie!
Too much!
Do you read lips?
Now you can hear me?
[cheering]
Good evening, house guests.
- Good evening! - Good evening!
Let's start this off right.
You have your first two nominees of the season
sitting before you.
It is never as easy as it looks, deciding who to evict.
Jen, what was making that decision like for you?
What?
Why did I get asked the question?
Um-- it was fine.
I don't know.
I was not prepared to answer anything.
Sorry.
And that's how you're going to answer it now?
OK. I'm going to move on.
Eric? - Yes.
How about for you?
How hard was it deciding who you should evict tonight?
I think it was really hard.
Neither one of them deserved to be up there.
It's the luck of the draw.
And, you know, it's really disappointing for whoever
has to go home tonight.
OK.
Thanks, Eric.
Jessica, you and Carol seemed to have buried the hatchet
and are getting along pretty well.
How do you feel about her possibly being evicted tonight?
If Carol is evicted tonight, then it is just her time to go
and it wasn't anything that I had to campaign for.
So if she goes, it was the house guests--
everyone's decision.
And that's just the way it's going to go.
JULIE: Thanks, Jessica.
Well, Carol, what are your feelings
toward Jessica right now?
Honestly, it's almost as if she's
just another house guest that I've not talked to or seen.
Because I remember the Jessica from middle school
and high school.
And it's not the same.
And is just completely different.
So--
OK.
d*ck, you've had a chance to spend
some time with your daughter.
Ah.
How has that been for you?
Kind of interesting.
It's-- I've had-- at least we're talking,
even if it's just on a cordial, real surface kind of a deal.
It's baby steps.
Walking in, seeing her was so much fun.
Just kind of unexpected-- expected, unexpected.
Expect the unexpected.
Yeah.
And it was-- it's been, so far--
I don't know.
Hard.
JULIE: Well, let me turn to Danielle.
What's it been like for you, Danielle?
How is it for me?
JULIE: Yeah.
Awkward.
It's been, honestly, awkward and kind of uncomfortable.
It's just-- it's an odd situation
to have to deal with in front of a bunch of different people.
Luckily, everybody's been really nice and really caring
about it, so it's making it easier.
Good.
All right.
Joe?
Yes, Julie.
There has been some tension in the house between you
and your ex, Dustin.
I would say there was a little bit of tension
between my ex and myself--
Dustin.
JULIE: Well, what is the nicest thing you can say about Dustin?
The nicest thing I could say about Dustin
is he's got a beautiful smile.
And it's purely surface level, so--
JULIE: And it's purely what?
Surface level-- his smile.
JULIE: Dustin, what's the nicest thing you can say about Joe?
Joe's got a winning personality.
Thank you, house guests.
I'll be back, in a little while, to talk to all of you again.
Before he was a hard living, self-proclaimed fixture
on the LA music scene, d*ck was a single father, struggling
to raise two small children.
So why hasn't his daughter Danielle
spoken to him in two years?
When we come back, d*ck's mother and son tell all.
But first, the house guests are casting their votes to evict.
Nominees, Amber and Carol, are not allowed to vote.
Neither is Kail, the current Head of Household.
All votes are made in private, in the diary room.
Let's hear what Dustin, Joe, Jen, Nick, and Jameka
had to say about the nominees.
I would want to keep Amber in the house
because, right now, Amber is my alliance.
She's the closest person that I have in this house.
Carol would be great to have around because she's not
so closely aligned with Dustin.
I'd keep Carol in the house because she's not
aligned with everyone, so she'd be,
like, easier to-- to use later.
I want to keep Amber in the house,
just because I feel like I have a very strong bond with her.
The reason that Amber should go
is because she is a strong competitor in this game.
I'd want to get Carol out of here
because she seems to have some kind of inconsistencies
with her attitude.
And that makes me a little weary of keeping her.
The reason to evict Amber would be because of the fact
that she's getting really close with Dustin.
And I'm not sure where his head is at.
[music playing]
Welcome back to "Big Brother ."
Before entering the "Big Brother" house,
it had been nearly two years since Danielle
had spoken to her father, d*ck.
To get to the bottom of this family feud,
we asked d*ck's son, Vincent, and d*ck's mother,
Charlotte, just what kind of father is this man
who calls himself Evil d*ck.
[music playing]
Being a mom of three, with a white picket fence, a husband
for years, a minivan, coaching
basketball, what is your opinion of me, as a father?
You can tell me.
I'm not going to cry.
I'm a big boy.
I don't have an opinion.
I'm not buying it.
Well, Evil d*ck is my dad and Danielle is my sister.
My sister hasn't talked to my dad in the last two years
because, at one point, he let her borrow money for something
and she wasn't able to pay it back.
And the way he handled it wasn't the best way to handle it
and she didn't like that.
So, basically, she stopped talking to him for two years.
It's been going on for so long.
I don't know what my dad can do to change
the situation between us.
I like your dad, actually.
But he's not your dad.
No, I know. I know what you're saying.
I know-- from your perspective.
Well, I grew up with my grandparents,
too, so it's different, you know?
He's never like ever been there.
When Richard became a father, he was only .
I think it was confusing.
The whole fatherhood was not what he expected.
It's like most parents-- you don't realize your life
is over as you know it.
And it's a whole different life.
I do think Richard is trying to get closer to Danielle.
He's always wanted to be close to her.
How weird and sad is it that I convince my daughter
and she's here.
It's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.
It could be really good for our relationship,
but it can also destroy it.
And that's the-- that's--
that's the catch .
At least we're talking now.
I have the hardest game in this house.
I'm here to win $, and I'm here
to win the love of my daughter back, the relationship
with my daughter back.
It's important to me that my dad my sister
mend their relationship, because our family is small
and kind of broken up, as is.
We are all that we, essentially, have,
and that we can't lose that.
Since entering the "Big Brother" house,
Kail has proven herself to be a tough player,
winning the first Head of Household competition,
then, quickly and quietly, forming
an alliance with three strong, young men at her beck and call.
Let's talk to Kail, who is alone in the HOH bedroom.
Hi, Kail.
Hi.
Your housemates are downstairs in the living room
and they are not able to hear you.
So please, feel free to speak your mind.
OK.
Once you became Head of Household,
you quickly formed an alliance with three of the men.
Yes, I did.
Why all men?
Well, that wasn't my plan coming into the house,
but Zach approached me first.
And I looked around at the girls.
And there's such an age difference
that I ran with Zach's idea.
And that's how the alliance formed.
JULIE: Well, the men have been responding well to you
in the house.
I mean, Eric, for example, he had a very emotional
conversation with you.
Were you surprised that he would confide in you?
Yes.
At first, I was surprised.
But then, when I think about my age, and being older,
and someone who seems to be a little bit less talkative,
I think he felt he could trust me.
All right.
Well, Kail, thank you so much.
And you can go back downstairs and join everybody.
- OK. - All right.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Still ahead, find out how Eric's family and friends reacted
to the news that he would be making
"Big Brother" history as the first ever America's Player.
But first, let's listen in as Zach, Danielle, d*ck, Mike,
and Jessica prepare to cast their votes in the diary room.
I'd keep Carol in the house because she warmed up to me
when she decided that she wanted to really take
on and be a part of the game.
I'd want to keep Amber in the house
because Amber is a really, really nice person.
Carol's looking for a place to set her tiara at night.
She's one of the princess crew.
A reason for keeping Carol in the house
is her loyalty, to me, down the line would last
longer than it would Amber.
It would be a little bit risky to keep Amber here
because Amber has her whole heart into the game.
She's here to win.
She's here to play a game.
The only reason, at this point in time,
to evict Carol is she's a strong player-- at least
she's stronger than Amber.
I wouldn't want to keep Carol in the house at all.
I mean, I do like watching her try to save herself,
but she's not going to.
[music playing]
Welcome back to "Big Brother ."
Eric is facing a challenge that no "Big Brother"
house guest has ever faced--
he is playing the game for you, as the first ever
America's Player.
Only Eric knew that he would be coming into the house
as America's Player.
His family and friends didn't have a clue.
OK.
Before we get started, I want to make sure Eric
is here with us in spirit.
[cheering]
Eric has watched every single season of "Big Brother."
I can't imagine a person, more than Eric,
who really wants to be there.
I'm Eric and no one's ever played this game like me
before.
[cheering]
He's almost a historian on the show.
He could tell you every contestant from every year,
and what they did, and didn't do.
And he has plotted this out in his mind for eight years.
He belongs there.
I'm Eric.
I'm .
I think the girls in the house are really going to like Eric.
He's a charming, charismatic guy.
I'm in assistant in, like, an advertising
marketing sort of office.
Oh.
Is that really all that exciting?
[laughing]
We have a twist, just for you, because, for the first time
in "Big Brother" history, one of our house guests
is called America's Player.
If Eric were made America's Player,
it would definitely rattle any sort of preconceived plan.
And, quite honestly, literally, being Eric's big brother,
I'm hopeful that there's no revelation that Eric
is America's Player tonight.
JULIE: It's time to meet America's Player.
[music playing]
No!
No!
No!
Boo!
That sucks!
So it looks like I'm going to be America's Player.
Welcome to reality TV's first alliance of million.
My reaction is a little mix.
He's such a fan and he has the strategy,
you know, all laid out.
And now we're a little concerned that, you know,
he's not necessarily going to get to do everything he wants.
We're going to win this thing and I'm going to do this.
Come on, do it with America.
But I think that he's going to roll with America's Player.
And I think that he's going to have the advantage
of having America behind him.
I think he knows the game well enough that I don't
think it's going to throw him.
I actually think it's going to excite him.
I hope America supports Eric and let's
hope that, come this September, he's got $,.
[cheering]
To Eric!
To America's Player!
To America's Player!
[cheering]
With Amber and Carol nominated for eviction,
you got to choose who America's Player should vote to evict.
Let's listen in as Eric finds out who you chose
and carries out your wishes.
I've been laying low until I kind of find out the direction
America wants to take it.
I really wasn't committing my vote either way.
You know, there's only really one pro
to keeping Carol in this house.
And that is that she's a weak player.
There's sharks in this house, and then there's one Carol.
The reasons I'd want to keep Amber--
she's a really down to earth girl.
I think that Amber would certainly
be someone I could forge a genuine relationship
and bond with, moving forward in this game.
Nice choice, America.
America, we vote to evict Carol.
Welcome back to "Big Brother ."
It's time to find out, live, who will be walking
out of the house tonight.
Will it be Amber, the c*ck waitress from Las Vegas?
Or Carol, the student from Hayesville, Kansas?
Let's return to the living room and talk with the nominees.
Amber, Carol, before I reveal the results,
I'll give you each one last chance
to address your housemates.
And Amber, you're up first.
OK.
Oh, god.
I just want to say that I've had a really
good time with all of you guys.
And regardless of how the votes go,
I had a lot of fun getting to know all you guys.
And I wish you guys all the best of luck
in being the last two standing.
Thanks, Amber.
Carol, it's your turn.
All right.
I guess I got to stand.
This has definitely been an experience
that I will never forget.
And I feel really honored and privileged to have
met all of you through this.
I really just want to take the time to wish
you all the best of luck and--
inside the house, in the game, and out in the real world.
So yeah.
Thanks, Carol.
Thank you both.
House guests, it is time to find out
who will be the first person evicted
from the "Big Brother " house.
Just a reminder, when I reveal the vote,
the evicted house guest will have one minute
to say goodbye, gather their belongings,
and walk out the front door.
[music playing]
By a vote of to one, Carol, you have been evicted
from the "Big Brother" house.
Fabulous.
I saw that one coming.
Oh, hugs.
Oh, I love you guys.
- Take care. - I will.
Bye.
Oh, my Joe!
Bye, guys.
See you in New York.
See you in New York.
Bye, Carol.
Bye, Carol.
Let me just put my hand out.
What did I tell you?
All right.
Well, you guys, enjoy.
Bye, Carol.
Bye, Carol.
The first thing I'm doing is picking up my cell phone.
- Good luck! - Bye, Carol.
Bye, guys.
[clapping]
Bye.
Oh, I really hope I grabbed the right bag.
Awkward.
- You can drop the bag. - OK.
It looks heavy.
Yeah, it is.
Hi. - Welcome.
- Thanks. - Hi, Carol.
I'm Julie. - Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Please, have a seat.
Man, I thought Amber was leaving.
Tense moments, tense moments.
[interposing voices]
I would like to point out to everyone
that didn't already notice where the [inaudible] were.
I know.
Wow.
Jessica, that must have been--
Eric, are you OK?
What?
It's all good, baby.
No.
Sorry.
No.
I think I won the rude award.
I think I did.
I think Jessica did.
Oh, this is so weird.
Carol.
Hi.
Hello.
Earlier tonight, you said that your former best friend,
Jessica, is not the same girl you knew way back when,
when you guys were best friends forever.
How is she different?
Honestly, I just kind of said that.
I really don't know if I really meant that.
She-- she's very much the same person she
was in high school and very--
Which is?
I really don't want to go there.
I don't know.
I mean, things are still awkward between us
and we haven't buried the hatchet.
And we did talk, but it was more like a forced kind of,
we have to talk sort of situation.
What was the hatchet?
What was the big falling out between the--
Honestly, I don't even remember.
I don't know what the fight was about.
It was just the fact that we were
both just too stubborn to ever forgive one another, so--
Well, she does.
And here's what she had to say.
Aw.
She owed me $. one time.
$.?
Well, you know--
No wonder!
When you're .
Carol and I were BFF.
She had been talking smack on me to a lot of people.
You can't stand her?
I cannot stand her.
We're from the same, small town.
She has the exact same face, she has the exact same hair.
Personally, I don't like girls hair curled with a curling
iron, but it works for her.
Is that a-- is that a ring?
Is she engaged?
That's her right hand.
Because-- I was going say, because she is not loyal.
I want Carol evicted before me.
I'll absolutely die if she's not evicted before me.
Bye, Carol!
Oh!
Now what do you want to say?
That's exactly what I said--
she's the exact same person she was in high school--
very, very conceited, very stuck up.
And now I can honestly say that and not feel bad about it, so--
Are you going to pay her back her $. or not?
No, absolutely not.
It's not worth it.
Well, Carol, in the event that you were
the one voted out tonight, your house mates
taped some goodbye messages.
Let's listen.
OK.
Carol, we didn't get enough time together.
I really enjoyed meeting you and I think
you're an exceptional person.
I'm really going to miss you in this game.
Carol, you have a big heart.
And unfortunately, in a game like this,
that's probably something that you don't need,
right away, off the bat.
You're the one house guest that I want to definitely
keep in contact with.
I know there's bright and huge things in your future
that you will accomplish.
I think a lot of you as a person.
I'm really sorry we got put in the position
we were in this week.
I'm really glad I got to meet you and I wish you all the best
of luck in your future with your boyfriend,
your family, and school.
And that's about it, so I wish you the best.
Bye!
It's weird that we never made up, when we were younger,
and that it took a reality show to bring us
to have to talk to each other.
Good luck with everything.
You're an extremely talented girl.
I hope life goes well.
Maybe we'll see each other at a high school reunion.
Hm.
What is that look for?
Hm. No.
What are your thoughts?
My thoughts are I tried really, really, really
hard to be nice and not to--
I don't know.
It's just Jessica.
But she'll never change, so I'm not even going to go there.
Carol, thank you.
No problem.
And I'll talk more with Carol tomorrow morning

Coming up, the Head of Household competition--
who has what it takes to be the next HOH?
Stay with us.
[music playing]
Welcome back.
The most important position in the "Big Brother" house
is Head of Household.
It comes with power, perks, and a crucial responsibility--
free from the threat of eviction,
the HOH must put two house guests on the chopping block.
Who will be the new Head of Household?
Let's find out.
House guests, the power is up for grabs.
Kail, as outgoing Head of Household,
you are not eligible to compete.
Tonight's competition is called Majority Rules.
I'll be asking you a series of questions
about your housemates.
When you answer, don't give your personal opinion,
but, instead, answer how you think the majority of the group
will respond.
You'll answer by setting your dial to A or B.
If you answer with the majority, you will advance.
If you respond in the minority, you will be eliminated
from the competition.
If the answers are split down the middle,
no one will be eliminated in that round.
The last player remaining will be the new Head of Household.
Does everyone understand the rules?
- Yes. - Yes.
Yes, Julie!
Let's begin.
In the Butter Me Up food competition,
who does the majority of the house
say they would rather rub the butter off of?

All right.
Split down the middle.
Moving on.
Reset to our tie breaker question.
So please, pick up your boards and your markers.
Now the answer will be a number.

will win.
How many gallons of water does the spinning teacup
in the backyard hold?
How many gallons of water does the spinning teacup

Joe, I hope you wrote something down,
because I need your answer.
Because-- Eric?
Joe, what is-- I can't read your answer.
Can you tell me what it says?
, Julie.
JULIE: OK.
Well, because of the entrance, the "Big Brother" teacup
holds gallons of water, which means, congratulations, Jen,

All possible.
The iron fist.
I don't know why, but it's so--
All it said was like, sorry, I didn't
really get to talk to you at all,
so I couldn't vote for you.
So just to let you know.
Yeah.
Like it was like I was mean.
Because I had nothing against you.
I just-- I talked to you like-- if I went through
like the whole house, I was like,
